Really good hotel had which a bad day.
Pros:

Having stayed and dined several times at The Grosvenor I was pleased to find the place looking as good as ever and looked forwards to a quality Sunday lunch and overnight before departing to The Ritz by train London the following morning as part of our new year celebrations.

Cons:

Our Sunday lunch experience was not the best as we felt ignored by a member of staff tapping away on a tablet while waiting to be seated, we also struggled to attract attention in the restaurant with the maitre d making only a brief appearance before disappearing, trying to replace missing cutlery and ask for basic condiments such as horseradish sauce was not easy. We discovered a faulty thermostat in our room made for a cold start the following morning. On checking out the main door to the hotel blew open exposing us to an icy chill which the receptionist acknowledged but still allowed my wife to struggle over on crutches to close it. I have written to the duty manager at the hotel who agreed our experience was not up to 5* standard and promised to make sure she would oversee our arrangements our next visit. I feel this was a poor show from restaurant and a poor response from the manager as we are unlikely to afford them an opportunity to restore our confidence in them, a disingenuous response from a 5 star hotel.

We had two lovely nights at the Grosvenor. It is a quiet, well situated hotel with friendly staff. Would go again.
Pros:

All the staff were polite and efficient. The room was lovely. Breakfast and lunch were great.

Cons:

Paying extra for a hot breakfast . Would rather that was included in a higher price

Pros:

Comfy bed and friendly helpful staff.

Cons:

The room was dusty. The table hadn't been cleaned properly and the window frames were dirty. Would have liked more variety of food on the room service menu

A special anniversary treat made very disappointing by the poor service.
Pros:

A beautiful hotel in a great spot. The room was fine and the valet parking was exceptional.

Cons:

Service at breakfast was truly awful. After being seated and getting our beverages it took 40 minutes, despite asking several times to get our food order. We were never asked how things were, whether we wanted more drinks or further food. This was despite there being numerous staff. The bar service was poor despite the prices being astronomical.
Food in the Brasserie was very nice, but again the service was very poor. My wife asked for horse radish sauce to accompany her meal. It arrived when she had almost finished her meal, along with a side dish of cauliflower cheese that should have accompanied the meal. There was also a long delay before our desserts arrived. When we complained we were given an apology but no explanation. The restaurant was by no means full and there seemed to be ample staff. On checkout our bill was totally wrong and took several calls to sort out - we were charged twice for the room and the hundred pounds that we paid on check in had not been refunded. Also a lot had been charged in gratuities for the totally inadequate service, which we did manage to get removed. These are not issues you would expect from any hotel and particularly from a famous five star hotel like the Grosvenor.

Great location, staff impeccable
Pros:

Staff were fantastic and very helpful, the room was a great size

Cons:

Rooms were a bit tired which wasn’t expected at such a renowned hotel (though granted it is due a refurb) room didn’t match the images and was very dated decor. Breakfast included was only continental which we weren’t aware of when we booked, we paid to upgrade but cooked breakfasts have been standard in other hotels we have stayed at.
