A great experience
Pros:

We had a great stay at the Okura! The hospitality was truly exceptional. Nico (Nicolas)at the Camelia really made us feel at home and had great suggestions for our trip.Nigel and Caroline et al at the the concierge desk were very helpful. Please tell Nigel that we did make it to the restaurant near the museum. Just perfect! We really enjoyed Captain Mikes canal tour. All of the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The staff goes above and beyond to make for a great trip.
And….the amenities at the hotel were really appreciated- sauna, large pool and gym were so nice to have after a day of sightseeing!
And…yes, the food at the hotel - especially the breakfasts and the treats in the panorama lounge.
Thanks !

Pros:

The service provided to us was extra ordinary. Started with warm welcome from Ashraf at the door to lovely check in by Aicha and Ezra. Were very attentive. Same for check out with Rochanie.
Big thanks also to Roxana who prepared the room perfectly.
If you seek feeling cared for and at home - this is the place to stay!

Luxury service at the highest level
Pros:

Great care is given to all guests. When I arrived the front desk checked me in immediately and when I requested help with a dinner reservation pre-arrival they arranged a spot for me at the Yamazato Restaurant, a Michelin 1 star. While it was listed as full they double checked the waitlist and found a cancellation that evening. Amazing service, the 23rd floor bar staff was fabulous. The restaurant was top marks. Wine, food and service was on par with what I expected. The manager who I remember from 8 years ago checked w/me halfway through service, he noticed I loved the sashimi and brought me another piece of Chutoro, tasted fabulous , the dinner was delicious. Sommelier was amazing w/wine selection for the evening. They upgraded my room as I was a leaders club member to a beautiful corner room. I also needed to find a pharmacy last minute and Rochelle at the front deck was very helpful in locating one for me. Just wonderful service all around. Great job team!
Im really looking forward to coming again.

A++++ for food, staff, design.
Pros:

We stayed at Hotel Okura Amsterdam from Tuesday to Saturday and had the most beautifully relaxed experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless and welcoming.

The food was excellent throughout our stay. We dined at both restaurants and were truly impressed by the quality, presentation, and flavour. Every meal felt special. We also spent time at the top-floor bar, where the views are absolutely stunning. The scenery alone is worth the visit, but the cocktails made it even better — perfectly crafted and thoughtfully chosen by the incredibly talented bar staff.

What truly sets this hotel apart is the service. Every single member of staff was exceptional — from the doormen and receptionists to the breakfast team, bar staff, cleaners, porters, and restaurant staff. Everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. It’s rare to experience such consistently high standards across the board.

The spa was another highlight. The atmosphere was calm and luxurious, and the team there were wonderful. I had a facial with Sarah, who was fantastic — professional, skilled, and so relaxing. Mya at the spa reception was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the whole experience seamless from start to finish.

It’s definitely a place we would return to without hesitation. It’s perfect for a relaxing getaway, and it’s lovely to see that children are also welcome, making it suitable for families too.

A truly exceptional stay from beginning to end.

Our first stay at Hotel Okura
Pros:

We recently stayed for two nights at Hotel Okura and had a very pleasant experience.
One detail we especially appreciated was how quiet the elevators were — it made a noticeable difference in the overall calm atmosphere of the hotel. Our junior suite was comfortable and well-appointed, with a very good bed and pillows that ensured restful nights.

The housekeeping team was attentive and thorough, and we consistently found the room in excellent condition. Overall, the personnel were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay.

We also enjoyed spending time at the bar.

Thank you for a comfortable and relaxing stay — we would be happy to return.

A very special thank you goes to Concierge Nigel Winklaar, whose exceptional attention and professionalism made our stay effortless and memorable. From our room and overall service to the spa, dinner, and breakfast — every detail was perfectly coordinated.

Pros:

I used to stay here. When I checked in today I ask the receptionist when the last time it was that I stayed here and she told me 2020. It hasn't changed. Thank God. This is an amazing hotel that is one of the best in the world without knowing it. It has amazingly comfy beds and a fantastic spa and michelin star restaurants. Amazing staff. Stunning roof top bar with legendary barmen who have been there for years. I travel a lot and stay in good places but Okura Amsterdam is hard to beat. There's just nothing wrong.

Another phenomenal stay at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam!
Pros:

Another phenomenal stay at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam for our family! Every part of our experience: the most hospitable and gracious staff, the beautiful serene decor, the wellness amenities and room comforts, we now have a hard time staying anywhere else. We live in Amsterdam and have stayed at the Okura a few times when we need a winter staycation. The whole experience makes it such a special and restorative treat for our family! The staff is so sweet to our kids as well. As a bonus, it was by far the best breakfast buffet we've enjoyed! Thank you Okura! We will be back!

Nice hotel in quieter part of Amsterdam
Pros:

Stayed at the Okura Hotel for 4 days after leaving the very ordinary city of Brussels a day early to get to Amsterdam.
The hotel is in the "Pipe" district of Amsterdam with bus and metro transport nearby, tram 12 stops near the hotel and the art musuems are less than 10mins away.
Hotel is fairly old ( built in 1971) but the public areas are nicely furnished with a choice of 4 restaurants and a top floor bar. We had a junior suite which was spacious and had veiws of the business district and towards the central area of Amsterdam.
Room could be probably do with a bit of an update but it was fine.
There's plenty of options to eat along the main street from the hotel including an excellent Italian restaurant called Insieme and a great ramen place.
Service was excellent throught the hotel especially the front desk and female concierge.
Pool was very good, breakfasts were fine typical hotel offerings nothing out of the ordinary.
All up a great hotel out of the craziness of central Amsterdam, also close to the airport for 50 euros good value in a taxi.

Devisive behaviour by reception
Pros:

Stayed here for 2 nights because our flights had been cancelled due to heavy snow and our tour operator arranged a 2 night stay on a B & B basis. The room was excellent, large, comfy, great bathroom , windows on 2 aspects . Breakfast was ok - the a la carte items looked well cooked however I did not order any myself . On day 2 of our stay there was no organise juice and despite asking it took an age for it to be refilled, choice was good but then I’d expect it to be gold plated for €38pp
Unfortunately what has driven this 2* review was the despicable devisive behaviour of reception when they invited some of our 80 strong party to a free dinner in t(e restaurant and told the this was being paid for by the tour operator. We enquired at reception whether we could partake in the free meal to be told no as all sittings were full. Why were some of our party invited ( if like you say the tour operator was paying ) and not all ? As this didn’t ring true I rang the tour operator who confirmed this meal was NOT being paid for by them . Yet when I raised this with Reception on checkout they were still adamant the tour operator was paying .
Quite frankly it was appalling to ask some of the group and leave others to fend for themselves . The weather was bad and in the end we did not venture out as the pavements were treacherous so we missed out on eating that evening when others in the group enjoyed a 3 course meal - how is that just and fair ???
Despite the hotel being warm and comfortable this issue has left a nasty taste and I would be reluctant to visit again

An unforgettable experience
Pros:

Our stay at this exceptional 5-star hotel was nothing short of magical, thanks to the impeccable service from every member of the staff—whether at breakfast, with thoughtful personalized touches in our room, or throughout our stay. A special applause to the pastry team for their stunning and original chocolate creations, and to the joyful Christmas brunch that made the holiday sparkle. The serene and luxurious spa added the perfect touch of relaxation to our experience. Dining at the Michelin-starred Yamazato was a highlight, with flawless service and a menu of extraordinary quality. This is the perfect place to celebrate Christmas or any special occasion in style and elegance—highly recommended for an unforgettable experience!

3回目での残念
Pros:

I do not know, it's probably very busy.

"Omotenashi" is a lie: Hygiene failures, lost orders, and management that clocks out.
Pros:

Rating: 1/5
"Omotenashi" is a lie: Hygiene failures, lost orders, and management that clocks out.
I have been a loyal guest, treating the Okura as a "home away from home." But after three recent grave incidents, it is clear that the legendary Japanese hospitality they claim is nothing but a marketing gimmick. The reality is declining standards, gross negligence, and arrogance.
1. The "Omotenashi" Illusion
True Omotenashi is about anticipating needs. At Okura Amsterdam, they cannot even fulfill basic requests.
• The Lost Order: On Saturday afternoon, I placed a breakfast card for the next morning with specific instructions and a €10 tip attached to ensure smooth service. I even made personal arrangements with a staff member regarding the order.
• The Reality: The next morning, I called the Front Desk to expedite the delivery. They called me back to inform me that Room Service had no outstanding order for me. My card—and the instructions—were lost. Had I not called proactively, I would have received nothing.
• The "Panic" Recovery: I gave the order again to the Front Desk, who assured me it would arrive ASAP. When the rushed order finally arrived, it was insulting. No toast. No sugar. No napkin. And when I tried to eat my eggs, the salt shaker was completely empty.
• This proves absolutely no quality control took place. They just threw a tray together and sent it up.
2. Hygiene & Safety Risks
This is not just about bad service; it is about food safety.
• November Stay: I found a black hair embedded in the Nutella jar at breakfast. (Photo attached).
• October Stay: A privacy breach where room service presented me a bill with another guest's signature, coupled with unkempt, unprofessional staff.
3. The Ultimate Disrespect: The Silence
High prices might buy you a nice room, but the true test of 5-star luxury isn't the thread count of bedsheets—it's how they handle a crisis. The Okura Amsterdam failed this test miserably.
• I filed a formal verbal complaint with the Front Desk on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM regarding the breakfast disaster.
• I waited in my room for the rest of the day. Silence.
• I was ignored for over 30 hours. One of the managers only reached out on Monday evening. In the email I received, he admitted that he only received my complaint on Monday afternoon.
It was painfully obvious that management was too busy enjoying their weekend off to be disturbed by a paying guest. They prioritized their personal time over resolving a guest crisis. That isn't "Omotenashi"—that is 9-to-5 clock-watching.

Amazing Hotel Okura
Pros:

This hotel made my travel. If we didn't have this hotel we would have not that good trave experience in December 2025. I booked this hotel because I wanted to enjoy the Japanese food during my trip. It was started by warm welcome by taking care of my suitcases by front door hotel employees. That was a nice and gentle starting of this hotel. I wanted to have the hot soup before head out for daily trips. The breakfast in La Camelia (not sure if correct spelling) was excellent. I had a breakfast here 3 times while my 5 days staying. The menu wasn't changed daily but still it was so good. The hot miso soup with noodle soothed my family before confronted the cold weather in Amsterdam. I was colder than expected since we were from California. The room was spacious. The hotel receptionist gave us the nice room with a amazing view. Just seating in a bed and enjoying the view was a great pleasure. I am Asian. I love to start a day with a hot water. Most of hotels doesn't provide it. Hotel Okura provides 3 big bottles of water every day for free and there is a Nespresso machine in a room which makes possible enjoy every hot water for me. There is an umbrella ready too. The bed sheet quality was great, and the bathroom amenities were great, nice and neat marble floor and Occidental products of soap, shampoos and conditioner. The shower booth was clean and nice too. The temperature was working so well, and we could enjoy a warm room temperature during the cold winter weather in Amsterdam. The distance from most city's attractions is near. All employees are so kind and nice. They always smile and tried to help for what I needed. The room cleaning ladies did a good job too. The most amazing thing of this hotel is definitely a food. All restaurants' food were amazing. You need to book in advance. I think wherever I travel in future, I will check if the city has the hotel Okura now. Thank you for your greatness.

Wonderful Birthday Stay
Pros:

We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel for my birthday from start till finish. We were greeted at the door by Amit who was very friendly and helpful he also helped to bring our luggage to our room.
At front desk We were checked in by Aicha. She was so lovely and made us feel very welcome. You definitely get a homely feeling at this hotel.
We stayed on the 22nd floor and the view was spectacular there were even binoculars. Our room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. There was a pillow menu too which was a nice touch. They definitely pay attention to detail in this hotel. Kie from front desk made me a beautiful handwritten card wishing me a happy birthday with some tasty chocolates. You get use of the lounge too in some room categories which was a really nice extra again with beautiful views. Definitely recommend this option. Nice snacks and drinks. Again very friendly helpful staff.
We didn't get to use the pool etc but did take a look. Will definitely use next time.

We were feeling so comfortable at the hotel we decided to cancel our reservation at a restaurant outside and dine in the hotel at the Serre restaurant.
On our way we were greeted by Mazen the door man who was very friendly. We chose the set meal option. Which was a vegetarian option or meat option. It tasted very good and we were happy we had decided to eat there.

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Breakfast was very nice. A great selection of options . I really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast too. Service was again perfect and I really enjoyed talking with Nico, a really nice guy.
Aicha and Mile checked us out . We had a nice conversation with them before leaving. We didn’t want to leave but we will definitely stay again and would highly recommended this hotel.
Service is excellent they definitely know how to make their guests feel at home.

Good overall but disappointing treatment of Leaders Club members
Pros:

I already stayed at the Okura Hotel (a Leading Hotel of the World) 4 times in the past 6 months.

It is definitely a nice and comfortable hotel with a great wellness center (gym, swimming pool, sauna). Restaurants are very good but overpriced.

Issue is mainly at the front desk, especially on how Leaders Club members are treated. In every single reservation so far, I had a problem: mistake in the room category, no upgrade in most cases (even though in one of the instances it was guaranteed and paid for through my membership), and when they upgrade they just put you in the same room category but in a higher floor, no late check-out (today’s reservation) while all these are among the Benefits of Leaders Club members. Service is ok but not at the standard of this type of hotel (for example, cleaning crew forgetting the night service, restaurant team forgetting that breakfast was included in the rate, etc).

Fortunately, the hotel over all quality somewhat compensates for the issues with the treatment of Club members. But if you are a Leaders Club Member, don’t expect the level of attention that you often get in other affiliated hotels. The Okura applies the benefits its own way…. Such a pity!
