The Culloden Estate and Spa is just outstanding the hotel staff are so helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and spotless. The personal touch for my son’s birthday with his favourite red velvet cupcakes and card made such a special day even more spectacular, in our bedroom on arrival. It’s wee touches like that make you come back. We enjoyed the spa so much very relaxing. The breakfast the next morning was out of this world. So much to choose from. We were all well fed for the day ahead. The Culloden over all is very special it’s our up and coming Wedding Venue in a few years time. We look forward to getting married here.
In the Spa they lack loungers and seating area for people using the pool. When it’s busy there is no where to sit while maybe waiting for the jacuzzi. This is a small detail I picked up on.
Also unfortunately in the Cultra Inn which was meant to be a special 1st engagement anniversary meal for my partner and I alongside my son’s 17 birthday, my sons starter was wrong it took the new chef 3 times to get it right! We had asked for a Chicken Caesar salad not to come with olives and tomato’s as per the menu due to allergies. We thought this was a simple request and could be followed as we stated at time of order to the waiter. The salad came out containing both of these items which could’ve been fatal. It was sent back and the 2nd one came out this time missing the croutons! Again it was sent back. It took 3 times to get a simple chicken Caesar salad correct. The waiter himself apologised as he was so embarrassed himself and explained it was a new chef on tonight. The restaurant manager did come over to speak to us about and it removed the service 10% charge discount of the bill. But this experience at the start of our night set the mood for the rest of our meal and ruined what was meant to be a special night. We know the Cultra Inn is separate from the hotel but just felt it was important to mention. Thankfully when we got back to the main hotel we had a better evening in the lough Bar.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was lovely.
The heating in the room turned on and off. It was a bit uncomfortable as the temperature kept changing.
1. Super staff.
2. Clean room, beds, tea and coffee choices.
3. Beautiful location.
4. Close to train, but no noise in the room.
1. Strange noise like working engine in bathroom and outside the window even during night.
It’s in a good location.
The spa facility isn’t good at all.
The hotel is like an old people’s home.
Food was top notch! Spa treatments best about!
Shower in the room wasn’t great pressure but not much to complain about giving how well we enjoyed the stay!!
We are getting married on 29/4/26 and our reception is at the Culloden. Ailie is our Events Coordinator and has been amazing from our first visit. So professional and equally friendly and approachable. Today we had our menu tasting and Se and his staff were equally fabulous. The food was amazing. The Thai fish cake was so tasty. Daube of beef also excellent and the lemon tart worthy of Dame Mary Berry! Thank you sooo much. Roll on the wedding meal 🤓
Everything, it’s perfect!! Loved it, will be back.
Gorgeous hotel & decor. Warm, cozy and beautifully kept.
The spa had work going on and the drilling really took away from the ambience. It was noisy & cold as the workmen were coming and going. We weren’t pre-warned as would have come on a different date had we known.
My meal in the bar was also poor. I ordered steak and it was over-cooked and poor quality. The staff did order me a new one, but by the time it arrived my husband had already finished his meal. Overall, disappointing.
My husband & I enjoyed a beautiful Sunday lunch in Vespers restaurant. Every bite was delicious. We’ve been a few times this past year because it has been so good. We will definitely be back. Pricey?….not at all because the food is worth it.
The many staff are friendly and helpful and remember you from previous visits. The reception areas and lounge are always warm , peaceful and relaxing. We stayed on after for a drink and enjoyed the views across Belfast Lough.
I spent two nights here for the new year. Lovely atmosphere, great location for coastal walks. Breakfast was 1st class. Loved the spa. Enjoyed dinner in the gate lodge and a nice pint in front of the fire. Booked the stay using Hilton Honour points part of the SLH deal, was disappointed to find the hotel also charged my credit card for the full stay. They did refund this but it was luck on my behalf that I saw this 3 weeks later.
Fabulous hotel with amazing customer service
Not much to not like
The staff everywhere were amazing.
Having to leave
Location is approximately 9km outside Belfast. The plethora of armchairs lend an "old-folks homish" atmosphere, especially in the main bar ( which closes on Saturday night, with no resident bar concession). Rooms were a shock....After travelling the world, I had never seen a waste bin full from previous occupants. One of the bath robes was dirty. After raising with a nonchalent reception, the bin was eventually changed, but not the bath robe. Meals were, sorry to say, quite awful...no in-house baked bread, breakfast meats- omlettes- eggs / dinner steaks seemed prepared with the same oil, which deemed the food inedible ( as witnessed by the food remnants left on plates- do the kitchen check returns?) Service on Sunday morning breakfast was limited, it seemed like severe staff shortages. Best staff were doorman Jonathan, and wait staff Shay and Leah, who were exceptionally nice under testing circumstances. This family weekend cost way too much for such an experience, which we expected would be top notch for a special occasion. No Culloden return is planned. The floor 3 clean staff capped all ...when asked was checkout time 11am, she replied snarkily " yes 11....and it's 10 minutes past 11 now".
We enjoyed every second of this experience, the food was superb the service was professional and the spa was great
The hotel was excellent
Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food was amazing. First class experience from start to finish.
Nothing
It is quite a few years since we have stayed in the Culloden, instead choosing the convenience of the city centre. The improvements and redecoration are beautiful. The switching around of the bar and restaurant are a very good move. The hotel definitely screams opulence. The spa and pool areas have improved immensely with the addition of a beautiful sauna and jacuzzi with Belfast lough views, and lounger chairs to relax on.
We were however disappointed with the service during our stay. We stopped for a drink in the bar after coming back from a concert. There were only ourselves and one other table, and 3 young people serving. Not one of them came over to us! After waiting 15 minutes I went up myself and asked if I could order some drinks. The following morning we ordered breakfast from the menu. We waited a good 20 minutes, still no food. We eventually found a waiter and asked if they could check on our order. It obviously hadn't been put through and it was another 15 minutes before it arrived. No apology! By then we were the only diners left in the restaurant. There seemed to be a real shortage of staff at breakfast. Would expect more for a 5 star hotel.
