Pros:

An outdated facility, room was not very clean and the decor was dated. The beds were comfortable. The location to the University, Ulster Museum, and Botanical Gardens were exceptional. A healthy walk to city centre. The staff was kind and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage for the day after we checked out.

Exceeded expectations. Excellent people
Pros:

Having read some reviews I was a little concerned. Those concerns proved to be unfounded and we had a great stay. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful or nicer.

We stayed as party of a coach tour on a Dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The food was generally good and varied. Our 2nd floor room was a good size and near the lift. While some carpets are beginning to show their age the decor was pleasent and everywhere was clean and tidy.

Very good location a mile from Central Belfast and very close to the excellent Ulster museum and botanical gardens.

The owners of this family run hotel admitted that the government occasionally take over the hotel completely to house people.

They star is the staff and owners who worked tirelessly to make our stay smooth and enjoyable.

Weekend away
Pros:

Very expensive hotel for the room we had. Then they charged us for parking which I thought was a bit of a joke. We paid €500 for 2 nights. The girl in reception was lovely.

Stay away filthy
Pros:

This hotel was extremely filthy. Room smelled as soon as you open the door. Figured out window opened to the trash dump under the window. The cause of the smell. One bed was dirty and needed changed also had tears in the sheets. Bathroom was filthy hair on counter sink and floor. Shower head was moldy and no place to put toiletries. Very hot upon entering. Asked for fan which they didn't provide. I think it was a heater was broken and leaning against the wall. Room was very dark even with lights on. Toilet ran constantly. Even had someone look at it and still ran loudly all night. Fire alarm went off about midnight due to a drunk person pulling it. Party down in the parking lot. Loud for hours which kept us up.
Just disgusting. Would never stay there again or recommend to anyone. Will be asking for our money back as that was not even a 1 star hotel let along a 4 as it should have been. I was afraid to touch anything let alone stay there for one night. Everyone had issues. Additionally this is a very old hotel. Carpets old in rooms and lobby. Pulling up in many places and stains. Skip it and stay somewhere else.

Unsatisfactory experience
Pros:

Upon arrival i was told there was no food available in the hotel so after a long tiring day, I had to go in search of dinner.
The room facilities left much to be desired with faulty media equipment and no air conditioning and the towels in the bathroom didnt look fresh and the soaps were part used.
All in all not a place I'd return to or recommend.

Disappointed
Pros:

My family and I stayed here in June, the location was great but the facilities were poor, on arrival in the car park the plantings were in dire need of attention, the flooring at the entrance was threadbare, they do not provide meals, not even breakfast, so we will not be returning,

Disappointment
Pros:

Friendly but not well groomed staff, hotel had no restaurant for evening meals or breakfast! This made it very inconvenient for my stay and had to make other arrangements to eat. Overall very poor and wouldn't recommend anyone to stay.

Mini getaway
Pros:

The best part of our stay in this hotel was that it was very accessible for us as we attended an event in the pub right beside the hotel.

When we walked into the hotel first we felt like it was dark, dingy & had an eerie atmosphere. The check-in was ok not much information was given to us. Then when we entered the room it looked dirty, old fashioned & had a weird smell. We felt that everything that was in the room was dirty - the kettle had limescale inside, carpet was worn, walls were dirty, water pressure in the taps in the bathroom were low.

The worst part of our stay was the price we payed for the car park. We payed £7 which converts to €10. Plus the check-out experience was not pleasant, there was no one at the reception desk when we approached it & the guy just asked for our room number & then asked for the money for the carpark - not a hi/hello how was your stay. He just looked unbothered & uninterested.

Very pleasant surprise in a beautiful part of Belfast
Pros:

I visited Belfast last week for an Iron Maiden concert, and found that the the hotels I usually stay at in Belfast were all full, so I booked the Wellington Park, even though it wasn't as "Central" as I'd have liked. Well that was a blessing in disguise, as it introduced me to the absolutely beautiful Queens Quarter, with the Botanical Gardens and Queens University literally a one minute walk from the hotel. I wouldn't be the biggest fan of Central Belfast, so this was a real breath of fresh air. The hotel itself is nice and welcoming, staff very friendly, the man at the reception desk was a real character and made me feel so welcome in Belfast, and who can argue with a pint bottle of Magners for £4.80 in a hotel bar! All in all somewhere I'll stay again, because I want to have a proper look around the Queens Quarter. Highly recommended!

A bizarre journey back to the 1980s
Pros:

Staying at the Wellington Park is a bizarre experience, it is literally a journey back to the 1980s as it's clear that no investment has been made in this hotel for decades. Room size was good, and it was generally clean. Unfortunately had some quite noisy neighbours who were banging their doors until the early hours (think it was a group of young people). Well located for the university district. Overall rating is somewhere between average and mediocre, I'll be generous and give it average.

Cheap and cheerfull
Pros:

Wasn't sure what this hotel would be like after seen some of the reviews but was slightly surprised.
It's a basic hotel and definitely could do with upgrading.
Our room had a double bed and a small sofa with couple of chairs and was spacious enough which surprised me,the bathroom was small with a small bath but room was clean and bed wasn't to uncomfortable.
Kettle and iron in room.
The staff were pleasant and had no issue with them.
Their is no food in this hotel apart from breakfast and the breakfast isn't great if I am honest, had a choice of 2 cereals and a small fry,the breakfast was included in our deal but if it's not then you hav to pay £12 and its not worth that to be honest.
Their is a cafe called Maggie mays just a couple of minutes down the road and that does all day breakfast with pancakes, omelette and hot food that's a much better option, their is also a restaurant called villa italia just down the road which does nice dinners but that needs to be booked before you go.
The location isn't bad just up the road from queen's University and the botanic Gardens, its about 20mins walk into the centre which isn't to bad.
I would stay here again if on a budget

Pros:

Was so disappointed by how much this property has declined as we used to go to Christmas partys in it regularly and always has a great time but when we arrived on Saturday it was instantly noticeable how neglected it has become. Phone in room covered in some sticky debris with blonde hair adhered to it. View from room was the back of a busy portaloo for the adjacent bar so had to keep curtains closed for privacy. Shower door did not contain the water when showering so had to use towels to dry the floor. No mention at any point of paid parking (even on check-in when registering vehicle details then the next day had the rudest male receptionist refuse to lift barrier as we “need to pay” and when I remarked there was a sign advising “Free Guest Parking” was told that that was for “OUR guests” and i had to pay “because i booked with someone else (Expedia) and it was up to them to tell about the paid parking”.

The Good The Bad and the Lovely - Room 138
Pros:

The Lovley

The Staff - I came in contact with several of them over the 2 nights I was staying and every single one of them were spot.

The Good
The bedroom very clean on the whole, although there were clear snot marks on the net curtain. Sheets, surfaces and floors very clean.

The bad

The bed was rather uncomfortable as were the pillows were far too soft, put this down to personal choice.

Tea and coffee station - Only one coffee sachet (i could have asked for more I suppose but I didnt brew up until shortly before check out.

Telephone in room - both sockets broken (a little attention to detail when checkout cleaning)

The very bad -

The bathroom is up there with the worst i've used in a hotel where do I start.

The sink just trickles water at an extremely slow drip which makes it very difficult when shaving and brushing teeth.

There is no hot water, its luke warm at being kind.

The bath was absolutley fithy, on the face it looked clean until I ran the bath and it was full of hairs.

I only paid £110 for two nights so wasnt expecting the world but basic clenliness, the lack of hot water and two poor nights sleep were the reason for the two star.

That being said the guy who was on reception when we checked in and out was lovely.

Pros:

Great location, within walking distance of pretty much the whole city. Staff were very helpful and efficient, breakfast was good, room of decent size and nice bar/lounge area. Shower was not good, very little pressure and the bathroom seemed very old and probably in need of being done up. Overall, we had a good experience and would stay again for convenience

Disappointed no food available at all
Pros:

I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel if you want to eat there . There was absolutely no option to eat in the hotel for breakfast, lunch or dinner couldn’t even get a lite snack. Parking is tricky as a large part of the car park is now a beer garden and it’s noisy too. Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful though. Room was clean but very basic and dated hotel needs a lot of work done to it.

Avoid
Pros:

Booked with Wellington Park , a no prepayment and free cancellation option.
I cancelled 5 days before the expected date of check in, policy states must cancel by 24 hours before check in to avoid charges.
Having given plenty of notice I was shocked to find they still helped themselves to the fee from my bank account 5 days later , which was unauthorised.
The receptionist was abrupt and rude when I called to enquire about this and advised me I was a no show at first.
Having actually checked their system properly upon my request then she admitted in fact I should not have been charged and they had made the error.
I wished to make a complaint to which I was given the general manager details (another waste of time as he told me it was anyone’s fault but Wellington park and made me go and get emails etc confirming the cancellation to forward to him in the hope he could prove they where not in the wrong)
After having emailed the evidence through I got a generic email back saying we will look into why you have been charged .
I’m glad I cancelled the booking now (although I might not have bothered since they’ll charge you anyway due to mismanagement of bookings) as I’d hate to think what the service would have been like had we have stayed if how they handle their errors is anything to go by.
