Excellent stay.
Pros:

This is a great hotel. Perfectly located, buses run past the hotel and just a short walk to the Sliema ferry terminal. Efficient check-in, got both our phones connected to the wi-fi before we went to our room. Opened in 1969. Not part of a chain, but seems to retain a "family" atmosphere. Very helpful, with taxis etc.
We had a room at the back. No view, but this was not important for this trip and it was very quiet, despite the hotel being full.
Nice bar, for before and after dinner drinks.
A really excellent restaurant, although the tables were very close to one another and it was very busy. The hotel should consider staggering times to spread out the load. Having said that, the food was always very good. The seafood starter selection was the best I've seen. Several "national" nights varied what was on offer. Very good dessert choice, with things on offer we'd not come across before.
Good, friendly staff, well-managed and we liked the limited wine selection (menu left on table) which included good, not expensive Maltese wines. Also brought quickly. Our particular compliments to these staff, who made our stay enjoyable.
Recommended.

A fantastic experience
Pros:

Fantastic hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever a bother to them. Rooms were recently refurbished and were beautiful. The rooftop bar was stunning too and had an amazing view of the city. Food was a different theme each night from Maltese to Mexican and it was always great with plenty of variety. Hotel was in a very good location in Sliema , close to Valetta and ferry terminal. Will definitely return to this hotel in the future..

Pros and Cons of our All inclusive stay at the PreLuna Hotel.
Pros:

Pros of Preluna:
* Helpful staff
* Good location
* Received 3 vouchers upon arrival
* Cleaning staff very attentive and will clean room every day
* Free use of Mini Fridge and safe in the room
* Meals have a theme each night, so do provide different tastes
* lounge bar staff very good - shout out the Gorgio
* Sky bar NOT ALL INCLUSIVE but Absolutely amazing!
* Massage and spa treatments were good and well priced. Bianca made me feel comfortable and relaxed the whole way though.
* WiFi is provided through the entire hotel
* Rooms were spacious, and had a balcony. Bath & Shower provided. Bed was comfortable.
* Upon checkout, Hotel will keep luggage and continue on with the All Inclusive until Transfer arrives. Also provide access to pool, showers etc

Cons of Preluna
* Voucher which you receive upon arrival offer very little choice ( especially for those with dietary requirements)
* Outdoor pool is seasonal only ( May to Oct) was not made aware of this until arrived
* Snacks which are advertised at the lounge bar, do not exist ( we asked Multiple times and were met with clueless faces and shakes of heads)
* Buffet for Meals is extremely limited, there is a theme every night ( Mexican, Oriental, Maltese, Mediterranean, Arabian, Italian) and Allergen labels are not reliable.
* Lunch is even more limited. Almost no one is there (guests or staff) and food options consisted of a pasta, Pizza and chips.
*Lounge bar has limited options for all inclusive if you do not want to pay. E.g €5 for a Guinness or €10 for a sparkling French martini
*On going Major construction on the building ( or close by ) started at 7am with drilling noises and cranes. - We were advised of this but were told it was minor.
* Downstairs pool is very small, underground, and very cholrine-y. Couldn’t fit more than 10 people there comfortably.
* Evening entertainment only on Fri, Sat & Sun (or a specific holiday)
* Seating by the lounge bar is limited but seats are comfortable.
* Though bed was comfortable, was 2 singles pushed together with a Double mattress on top.
* Towels could have been Bigger, possibly need to bring your own Bath sheet if you are slighter larger as the towels provided are slightly small.
* Would have been nice for a Robe or Slippers in the room too
* Hotel Tv was dismal. Barely any channels and no way to connect your own phone/ tablet.

Nice hotel, shame about building work next door
Pros:

We arrived at midnight so missed out on a welcome drink and dinner but were able to have lunch on another day as part of the half board package. The food choices were very good with a different theme every day but the dining room was very cramped and felt a bit like a school dining room. There is a small outside eating area adjoining the main dining room overlooking the bay but as it was very windy it was only possible to eat there one morning. We had a room at the back with a balcony overlooking buildings and a building site. The room was very hot and even with the heating turned off and the fan on it was quite uncomfortable. We were told it was still winter (daytime temperature was around 16c!) and therefore the air conditioning was not in use. We ended up having to sleep with the balcony door open. We stayed for a week and had 5 days of pretty relentless building noise, mainly a very loud jackhammer and in the evenings there appeared to be a generator going until about 9.45pm. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was clean but very basic toiletries and small towels; we were told bathrobes weren't available for use in the spa. The spa consisted of a gym which we didn't use, a small indoor pool which was cool,a small jacuzzi,a sauna and a steam room. It felt quite cramped, there weren't many loungers and the changing facilities were disappointing.

Honest review
Pros:

Just returned from a week at the Preluna Hotel. The hotel is in a very good position overlooking the sea. A nice promenade to walk along, it is well lit in an evening. The hotel is kept clean, there's a good working lift. The bedroom was spacious, worth paying for seaview room with a small balcony. Daily maid service.
We stayed half board, there is no water provided. There is a Lidl just around the corner.
The dining room isn't big enough for the number of guests, the tables are crammed very tightly together. The food was varied but not hot.
The lounge bar is small and enclosed with no windows, seating for 50 people. There's further seating for 50 people in alcoves. Again this area isn't big enough for the number of guests.

Superb hotel and staff
Pros:

What an absolute wonderful hotel and staff. On check in, received a complimentary drink. Check in was relatively easy. On arrival to our room, was pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of water and some biscuit/cake things which were lovely, both complimentary. The room itself was very spacious with plenty of storage and sockets. It even had a mini fridge so we could store anything that needed a fridge, i.e. bottles of wine/chocolate. Not very big inside so limited to what we could put in but we managed to use it. There is a safe for you to use in the wardrobe. The balcony has a couple of seats and a little table. Unfortunately due to the weather these weren't used very much. There is also a ceiling fan in case it gets hot as well as air conditioning. The bathroom is adequate although it could do with a shelf of some sort to store your toiletries. Wifi is available for free in the hotel but you have to pay if you want the premium service. All of the staff are very pleasant, friendly and nothing is a bother to them. You need something, ask and you'll probably get it. The rooms are cleaned daily and they even have a turn down service after the room has been cleaned so they can turn down the duvet ready for sleeping! A first as far as we are concerned, pleasantly surprised again. Yet another surprise, the turn down service leave 2 little chocolates on the bed with a "with compliments" card. All these little touches are very, very nice and welcome.

Breakfast is served in the Triton Restaurant on the 1st floor. It's a spacious, pleasant and clean restaurant with a huge variety of choices for breakfast which are all replenished as quickly as the volume goes down. The staff are excellent, polite and friendly. If there is an empty plate/bowl/cup, it's gone before you blink without even asking for it to be removed. The staff always ask you though if you're finished and can take it away.

There is building work going on next door (as there is all over Malta) which we were warned about but to be honest there was very little noise and what noise there was, it was tolerable. We went out every day anyhow and any noise had stopped by the time we got back.

All in all, a very pleasant stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again even if just for the little chocolates as they are delicious!

Perfect location for seeing all of Malta.
Pros:

Lovely hotel, great views and facilities. Beds very comfortable, room clean. Staff very responsive and friendly. The breakfast was not always that hot, regardless of the time you arrived to eat and the food was a little bland.

The location was excellent with bus stops right outside to take you pretty much everywhere. 3 euro bus from the airport to right outside the hotel (TD3) was such a plus.

Malta is very pretty but there is construction going on everywhere, if we went back I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

It was also smoke free, no second hand smoke when we was there wafting through the balcony which is always a plus!

Wasn’t disappointed
Pros:

We booked this hotel because it was cheaper than staying in Valletta and we weren’t disappointed.
The room was fine but like most hotel rooms, badly laid out. Reasonable amount of storage space but bathroom storage space limited. Excellent shower and toilet.
Multiple electrical sockets in the room that accommodated UK & European plugs and separate USB sockets. Air con not switched on but that’s pretty standard in most hotels in the winter months but there was a ceiling fan. There was three express lifts and we never had to wait more than a minute for one. The outside pool area over the road wasn’t in use but they planning a new pool area next to the hotel.
We were all inclusive so water was included and alcoholic drinks were premium. Food was excellent in the buffet restaurant with a different theme every evening. Breakfast and lunch had plenty of choice. There was a small outside seating area. We got a complimentary meal in the Japanese Burger bar, Japanese Sushi restaurant and a complimentary cocktail up the rooftop restaurant. We never tried this restaurant as it wasn’t all inclusive.
There was entertainment in the lounge / bar area on Friday / Saturday evenings.
Only complaint, the tables in lounge were low, as we like to play cards, but we managed 😁
Plenty of buses stopped outside the hotel and only cost two Euros per person for three hours unlimited travel. 20 minute ride to Valletta. 20 minutes from the airport.

Not up to four star hotel
Pros:

Checked in on 26 February 2026. No bottle water or snacks in the room, asked the reception for water was told I have to pay for it and get it at the bar. You have to pay for hotel Wi-Fi in a four stay hotel. Wall plugs not working to charge my laptop and phones. Reported to the reception desk and no one to fix it.

Preluna won't be back
Pros:

This hotel is in a great location close to shops and restaurants. Good amenities are there as well. The hotel is close to bus stops. The staff is friendly and accommodating. HOWEVER, the rooms have NO air conditioning during "cold" seasons. This may sound reasonable except that I found my room uncomfortably HOT. I really think that if they are truly concerned with the guests comfort as they state in their welcome letter, then guests should be able to choose their own level of heating and cooling. I that regard, I will never stay there again or recommend to anyone else. And please don't give me environmental reasons, that's a bunch of BS.

Pros:

Located on.Sliema promenade within a 10 minute walk of the ferry terminal. Bus stops within 100 metres for regular services to Valetta, Mosta, Mdina (Rabat) and Bugibba. Family owned. Excellent food with themed evenings ( Mexican, Oriental, Maltese, Mediterranean and Italian). Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Such a friendly atmosphere.
Pros:

This is a lovely hotel. We were given a welcome drink as soon as we arrived. We were too early for our room but checked our bags in and went for a walk around. The hotel is right opposite the sea and there is a small cafe oppisite selling snacks, cakes and meals. We found a Spar close by too.
The room was warm and cosy with a walk in shower. It was cleaned every day and we had new bedding and towels. It also had a small fridge. We didn't have any robes for the pool and spa in the room but when I requested them they appeared in our room very quickly.
The next day we went for breakfast and there was so much to chose from including a cooked breakfast with 3 types of eggs, fruit, pancakes, meats, cheeses, yoghurt cakes and fruit. There was a poster to tell us what the evening meal was. It was a Mediterranean night. We decided to try it and it was great. Again there was lots to choose from, buffet style, just like breakfast. We liked it so much we had dinner in there nearly every night and every night it was a different theme. The hotel also had a roof top restaurant and cocktail bar where we ate one night. The food was excellent and so was the service.
The hotel staff were all so friendly. I would definitely go back.

Great location, worth the stay
Pros:

We arrived 22nd January. Put in a room on the fourth floor in the new building. Reception staff were welcoming and very friendly. Couldn't checkin until 14:00

Rooms are nice, modern. Some have balconies, some dont. We got allocated one. We got free WiFi that worked brilliant. You get a fridge and kettle in the room. The only down side for us was the bulding work at the back. We kept door shut. Some of the plugs in the room are European and not 3 pin UK adaptor.

The shower in the bathroom was crap but it worked. The power was terrible.

If I did visit Malta yes I'd stay here again.

Fabulous hotel!!
Pros:

A return Christmas holiday....having been Christmas 2019
Things have changed in some aspects.....certainly for the better.
Stayed half board.....certainly wasn't disappointed with the food. Amazing! Entertainment...chilled! Cleanliness...spot on!
Stayed on the 7th floor, spacious room with balcony overlooking the sea and promenade.
Chanapha looks after the 7th floor. She is amazing....polite, cheery, hard working.
Looked forward to seeing her along the corridor.
Please give her a deserved pat on the back. Preluna are lucky to have staff like her.

★★★★★ Thoughtful Hospitality, VIP Touches, and a Memorable Dining Experience
Pros:

★★★★★ Thoughtful Hospitality, VIP Touches, and a Memorable Dining Experience
My stay at The Preluna Hotel was defined by genuine hospitality and attention to detail — the kind that makes you feel welcomed rather than simply checked in.
The staff were consistently warm, attentive, and proactive. From the very beginning, there was a clear sense that they cared about the quality of the experience, not just the logistics. Requests were handled smoothly, communication was easy, and the overall tone was friendly, professional, and relaxed.
I stayed in a VIP room, and it truly elevated the experience. The space was comfortable, well-appointed, and thoughtfully prepared — but what made it special was the wine upgrade. That small yet elegant gesture immediately set the tone and made the stay feel personal and considered, not generic. It’s exactly the kind of detail that stays with you.
A highlight of the stay was dinner at Sakura. The atmosphere is refined and calm, and the food is beautifully prepared. It’s not just convenient hotel dining — it’s a destination in itself. The quality, presentation, and overall experience made it a standout moment of the trip.
Overall, The Preluna Hotel combines strong service, well-designed rooms, and thoughtful VIP-level details with an excellent on-site restaurant. The staff are the true backbone of the experience, turning a comfortable stay into a genuinely pleasant and memorable one. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for warmth, quality, and a touch of elegance in Sliema.

30th December to the 6th of January 26. Absolutely fabulous hotel. Wonderful staff, great breakfast, our seaview room was amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough so helpful, professional and friendly. The Best Hotel!
Pros:

I read nearly every review of every hotel in Sliema and Valetta, I am so glad we selected Preluna! This hotel was exceptional from start to finish. We were welcomed at reception with a local drink, which was such a nice touch. Our room was incredibly comfortable and spotless—huge credit to the cleaning staff, who did an amazing job and were super friendly.

The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the door, making it easy to get around. The pool was fantastic too. We traveled in October so it wasn’t crowded at all, though I’m not sure what it’s like during peak summer. We paid to include breakfast and it was absolutely worth it—tons of options, and they changed things up each day. We didn’t end up doing lunch or dinner since we weren’t sure how often we’d be at the hotel, but the themed menus sounded fun and the cuisine varied throughout the week.

I’ve seen complaints about construction nearby, and I honestly don’t get it. Yes, there was construction next door, but we never heard it. And frankly, most of Malta is under construction—this wasn’t an issue at all.

One tip: pay the few extra dollars for a room with a balcony. It was absolutely perfect and made the stay feel even more special.

We’re already talking about going back to Malta this spring just to stay here again.
