Located on.Sliema promenade within a 10 minute walk of the ferry terminal. Bus stops within 100 metres for regular services to Valetta, Mosta, Mdina (Rabat) and Bugibba. Family owned. Excellent food with themed evenings ( Mexican, Oriental, Maltese, Mediterranean and Italian). Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
This is a lovely hotel. We were given a welcome drink as soon as we arrived. We were too early for our room but checked our bags in and went for a walk around. The hotel is right opposite the sea and there is a small cafe oppisite selling snacks, cakes and meals. We found a Spar close by too.
The room was warm and cosy with a walk in shower. It was cleaned every day and we had new bedding and towels. It also had a small fridge. We didn't have any robes for the pool and spa in the room but when I requested them they appeared in our room very quickly.
The next day we went for breakfast and there was so much to chose from including a cooked breakfast with 3 types of eggs, fruit, pancakes, meats, cheeses, yoghurt cakes and fruit. There was a poster to tell us what the evening meal was. It was a Mediterranean night. We decided to try it and it was great. Again there was lots to choose from, buffet style, just like breakfast. We liked it so much we had dinner in there nearly every night and every night it was a different theme. The hotel also had a roof top restaurant and cocktail bar where we ate one night. The food was excellent and so was the service.
The hotel staff were all so friendly. I would definitely go back.
We arrived 22nd January. Put in a room on the fourth floor in the new building. Reception staff were welcoming and very friendly. Couldn't checkin until 14:00
Rooms are nice, modern. Some have balconies, some dont. We got allocated one. We got free WiFi that worked brilliant. You get a fridge and kettle in the room. The only down side for us was the bulding work at the back. We kept door shut. Some of the plugs in the room are European and not 3 pin UK adaptor.
The shower in the bathroom was crap but it worked. The power was terrible.
If I did visit Malta yes I'd stay here again.
Excellent stay! The hotel is in a prime location, making it easy to explore the city. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Also, the food was absolutely delicious—I highly recommend the breakfast!
A return Christmas holiday....having been Christmas 2019
Things have changed in some aspects.....certainly for the better.
Stayed half board.....certainly wasn't disappointed with the food. Amazing! Entertainment...chilled! Cleanliness...spot on!
Stayed on the 7th floor, spacious room with balcony overlooking the sea and promenade.
Chanapha looks after the 7th floor. She is amazing....polite, cheery, hard working.
Looked forward to seeing her along the corridor.
Please give her a deserved pat on the back. Preluna are lucky to have staff like her.
★★★★★ Thoughtful Hospitality, VIP Touches, and a Memorable Dining Experience
My stay at The Preluna Hotel was defined by genuine hospitality and attention to detail — the kind that makes you feel welcomed rather than simply checked in.
The staff were consistently warm, attentive, and proactive. From the very beginning, there was a clear sense that they cared about the quality of the experience, not just the logistics. Requests were handled smoothly, communication was easy, and the overall tone was friendly, professional, and relaxed.
I stayed in a VIP room, and it truly elevated the experience. The space was comfortable, well-appointed, and thoughtfully prepared — but what made it special was the wine upgrade. That small yet elegant gesture immediately set the tone and made the stay feel personal and considered, not generic. It’s exactly the kind of detail that stays with you.
A highlight of the stay was dinner at Sakura. The atmosphere is refined and calm, and the food is beautifully prepared. It’s not just convenient hotel dining — it’s a destination in itself. The quality, presentation, and overall experience made it a standout moment of the trip.
Overall, The Preluna Hotel combines strong service, well-designed rooms, and thoughtful VIP-level details with an excellent on-site restaurant. The staff are the true backbone of the experience, turning a comfortable stay into a genuinely pleasant and memorable one. I would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for warmth, quality, and a touch of elegance in Sliema.
30th December to the 6th of January 26. Absolutely fabulous hotel. Wonderful staff, great breakfast, our seaview room was amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough so helpful, professional and friendly. Would highly recommend. Nearby everything from bus routes to lovely restaurants and shops. Watching the fireworks from the stunning sky bar on New Year’s Eve was lovely too. Top marks to all @ The Preluna! Would love to return x
I read nearly every review of every hotel in Sliema and Valetta, I am so glad we selected Preluna! This hotel was exceptional from start to finish. We were welcomed at reception with a local drink, which was such a nice touch. Our room was incredibly comfortable and spotless—huge credit to the cleaning staff, who did an amazing job and were super friendly.
The location is perfect, with a bus stop right outside the door, making it easy to get around. The pool was fantastic too. We traveled in October so it wasn’t crowded at all, though I’m not sure what it’s like during peak summer. We paid to include breakfast and it was absolutely worth it—tons of options, and they changed things up each day. We didn’t end up doing lunch or dinner since we weren’t sure how often we’d be at the hotel, but the themed menus sounded fun and the cuisine varied throughout the week.
I’ve seen complaints about construction nearby, and I honestly don’t get it. Yes, there was construction next door, but we never heard it. And frankly, most of Malta is under construction—this wasn’t an issue at all.
One tip: pay the few extra dollars for a room with a balcony. It was absolutely perfect and made the stay feel even more special.
We’re already talking about going back to Malta this spring just to stay here again.
This was our first stay at this amazing & well equipped hotel where we stayed for 4 days for my 60th birthday.
Our seaview bedroom was amazing & very comfortable bed with great facilities.
The hotel management & the housekeeper for our bedroom were fantastic giving birthday surprises.
Breakfast & dinner were so wonderful with friendly & attentive waiting staff plus the reception staff as well.
We will come back soon for our next trip.
Highly recommended to stay at this hotel with superb facilities overlooking the sea in Sliema. Easy reach to other restaurants & shops including The Point shopping centre.
We had a fantastic stay at the Preluna Hotel in Sliema and would happily return. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and honestly couldn’t be faulted — a great place to relax after busy days exploring Malta.
The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we checked in, which made a great first impression. The hotel is brilliantly located right on the promenade, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and public transport links just outside the door.
Next time we visit, we would definitely book a sea-view room, although the room we had was still excellent in every way. The only minor issue was some noise from other guests late at night, but this wasn’t the hotel’s fault and didn’t detract from an otherwise great stay.
Overall, a really enjoyable experience and a hotel we’d confidently recommend to anyone staying in Sliema.
Visited Sliema on a short trip and the service at the Preluna was great no matter the time of day.
The food and drink served was of the highest quality and the staff always friendly and professional. The cleaning staff deserve a mention for keeping the place spotless.
There are a wide variety of amenities on site and places to as soon as you exit the hotel.
I would highly recommend for solo travelers or families looking for a stay on of the many wonderful locations in Malta. *****
Myself and a friend came here for a short break from 13th-16th December.
We were checked in very quickly and given the keycard for our room.
The reception staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, they explained to us where the bus stops were, and where to get the boat to Valletta.
We had booked a basic room, but we were pleasantly surprise to find our room was very spacious with a balcony. The beds were very comfortable, and we only briefly heard construction noise once while we were in our room.
The breakfast was at the hotel was excellent, there was plenty of choice for everyone. Cereal, fruit, bread, meat, cheese, yogurt and hot food.
The bar area had a good choice of drinks when we called for a nightcap and the prices were reasonable for a hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff are very friendly and smiley and always said hello. The hotel is also convenient for bars, restaurants, shops and is close enough to Valletta, which is well worth a visit.
We would definitely stay here again. When we return.
Great last minute Winter break at this hotel. We’ve stayed here before and have to say that the welcome is so warm and friendly.
We enjoyed a balcony room with tea/coffee making facilities.
The breakfast choice was lovely and very well presented.
We used the pool, sauna, steam room and gym during our stay. I had a wonderful massage from Hazel at the Wisteria Spa.
A great relaxing stay!
This was my third stay at The Preluna. Obviously I like the hotel. The location is terrific, being directly across the street from the Mediterranean Sea and only a very short walk into the center of Sliema. Also, the airport bus stops right across the street as do the frequent buses to the walled city of Valletta, Malta's capital.
The staff at The Preluna are all outstanding, from the young people who cleaned my room on a daily basis, to the people at Reception and all the waiters in the bars and restaurants. I ate two meals daily in the Triton Restaurant and I must say that the wait staff went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of the hotel guests. The food at this buffet restaurant was varied and plentiful. There were several theme nights - Mediterranean Evening, Arabian Evening, Italian Evening, Mexican Evening, Malta Evening - with each offering foods of those ethnicities.
There is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool that is built into the rocks right on the Mediterranean. The hotel has many other amenities.
I hope to return to The Preluna for a fourth visit.
I visit malta oftern and i have stayed in other hotels that are no where near as spot on as this one. Everthing was amazing. The location is amazing everything is on ya doorstep the rooms are so clean and modern the staff are so friendly i loved it cannot wait to come back i will only be booking this hotel in future .
Really enjoyed stay at Prenula hotel. Room spotless amazing view from sea view room. Food great plenty of choice to suit any taste. Staff fantastic no dishes left on table. Staff went above to make sure enjoyable experience. Reception staff wonderful met on arrival with drinks checked us in and was escorted to room. A little noise from building work next door but when closed door heard nothing. Was compensated with free drinks with evening meal. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Have already booked next trip. Thank you to all staff for making our stay wonderful.
Enjoyed our stay in the Preluna hotel. Breakfast was excellent lots of choice. Personally found mattress a bit too soft but managed for the week. Only downside is outdoor pool isn't in the hotel it's down the road about 50yds away. Not at all convenient and area much smaller then pics. In a week, we never managed to get a lounger, so never sat round pool or swam. A huge disappointment for me.
Very nice clean and comfortable hotel in a great location for seafront bars and restaurants and buses. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great buffet breakfast and themed evening meals. Thoroughly recommend.
Nice hotel, very clean. Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great choice of food for breakfast. Nice room with bath and shower, lots of little extras - dressing gown, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, shower hat, sewing kit and shoe polisher in room. Small fridge in room. Parking available for €10 per day if you have a car I would recommend using this as very limited street parking.
I had a very pleasent stay this time no construction noises at all it was nice and quiet … room where nice … the cleaning staff where kind and very friendly … amazing views on the ocean … only the aircondition was bit to weak … and the shower situation not realy work out for tall people …
The poolbar is ok … drinks sometimes a bit weak (maybe of the guests that have all inclusive) … the Poolstaff seams a little bit unsecure , i remember a lot of people having problems with snacks or drinks. The plastic glasses dont work for me when it came to cocktails ,vine or some other drinks in a certain price range.
in my opinion the early closing time from the rooftop bar is sad and a missing highlight for your clients … because this stunning view is outstanding and the cocktails where amazing! … in normal ways i take cocktails after my dinnertime 22:00/22:30 and last order was 23:00 or 23:15 ! and u have to hurry up because u must leave before midnight. When i stay in the exelsior hotel the bar stay open all night long.
