We loved our time at Park Shore. To start your day off right, take the beach yoga class with Paige. It was gentle and relaxing.
Great location along the seafront at Waikiki. Beside the zoo and bus stops. Easy walking distance to main shopping and restaurants.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly reception staff.
Rooms are a little tight for space. Two queen beds leave it tight for luggage. Small closet. A bit dated in decor but good air con. Good toiletries and tv. Our kettle was temperamental but worked. Fridge and safe useful.
We paid taxes etc when booking but on arrival also had to pay $50 per day resort fee which was expensive.
Pool was adequate but on a busy day not many seats- beach is close by though.
This was our third stay at the Park Shore in the last 3 years - this in itself speaks heaps about how happy we are to stay there! The rooms, facilities and location are exceptional and the staff are friendly, super helpful and efficient. Would highly recommend the Park Shore!
I am going to try to give a detailed review of this property because I think it deserves it. I gave it 5 stars because of the overall value. It is NOT a 5 star hotel. It is a simple hotel with great amenities and a super friendly staff. Summary: Stay here if you want good value and a good nights sleep and you value clean rooms and friendly staff and the best snorkeling on Waikiki. Don’t stay here if you want a high class amenities and want to stay in the high end district with the more expensive shops.
The Goods:
1. The beds are excellent. We had a family reunion, and everyone was surprised how well they slept. I’ve included a picture of the mattress brand and model because we may actually buy one. We slept better on this bed than we do at home. Very rare! The pillows were ok, not bad not great. We likes the fact that the bathroom sink had a larger counter next to it to put our things. The bathtub/shower was clean and easy to use.
2. The staff, very friendly and helpful. They give you a text when you first get there saying if you need anything, just ask. I asked for several things and Olivia, Kana’I, Jules, or Kai always got back to me within a few minutes. They also only do valet parking, which I thought would be a pain, but it was much easier than self parking. They got my car within a few minutes every time and were also very friendly while doing it.
3. The location. At the far end of Waikiki, it’s more convenient to get onto the H1 highway. If you stay in the middle of Waikiki it takes 5 to 10 more minutes to get out of Waikiki. Also, it’s still close enough to the center that we walked there several times during our stay. No safety issues that we could see. It’s next to the zoo and park, but we didn’t visit there so we can’t comment on either one. Not being inside the breakwater areas in the center of Waikiki it offers more chances to see fish and turtles. We saw 2 turtles during our stay and lots of fish. Not as many as Hanauma Bay, and nowhere near as good as black rock in Maui, but not bad for out your front door. Wear water shoes, the sea urchins will hurt if you step on them!
4. Little Perks. They had lots of free perks we didn’t know about. Washers and dryers for the guests. Free reef safe sunscreen and aloe for when you get burned. Free beach towels. Free chairs, inner tubes and other items from the shop next door. ABC store on the first floor with basics and decent food. I liked their salads and sandwiches. Lulu’s on the second floor of the hotel had very good food, but like all over Honolulu, it was pricey. Another simple perk is that there is an end table on both sides of the bed. I don’t know how many fancy hotels I’ve been to which only have an end table on one side. Very frustrating.
5. The views. When we walked down Waikiki, I noticed some higher end hotels that looks to be partially blocked ocean views. We had the best views by far! I can’t understand why people would pay more for a lesser view. Our ocean view rooms (not ocean front, those are better and more expensive), had a view of both the beach and Diamond Head
The Bads:
1. The rooms are very simple, and dated. But they were clean. You only get the basics, a microwave, small refrigerator with no freezer section. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash are in pump dispensers which work fine. But they weren’t any fancy brand but they worked just fine.
2. The valet parking circle is difficult to get into. But once you’ve done it a few times, it becomes easier. I have pictures showing the circle for anyone thinking of coming here.
3. They have ice machines on only 4 of the 12 floors. Not a big deal, but I though I should mention it.
4. TVs, they may work, they may not. I never turned mine on, and I watch a lot of TV. With there being so much to do in Waikiki, we never had a chance to turn them on.
Not recommended, please choose Hyatt or Marriott, which is same price , room.smells, old carpet, if you have dust issues. Do not even think to stay there.
This is a great location right on the corner overlooking Kapiolani Park. And the banyon tree picnic beach access. Hotel is welcoming and has friendly available staff. Daily pool or beach towel exchange and a complimentary sunscreen and water station. I was very happy to upgrade to a junior suite with view a small wet bar with microwave and fridge. Keurig coffee. Sure it’s a little noisy on the street by day. But SO accessible to all restaurants and amenities. Complimentary beach yoga twice a week? Yes please! Mahalo
Just joined a Yogd class at the
beach via ParkShore hotel. The yoga at the beach was really great. Felt really nice. The instructor, Paige, was very friendly and good at providing us nice and secure environment. Loved it!!!
Experience and views were amazing! Definitely do the yoga class with Paige on the beach!
Did sunrise yoga on the beach with Paige and it was great. She was bubbly and fun while offering various levels of challenge in a gorgeous setting.
Yoga on the beach with Paige was amazing!
I did the morning beach yoga class with Paige and it was so much fun and so beautiful! Definitely recommend doing the yoga class in the morning if you have time!
Phenomenal experience. Great staff, wonderful rooms and fantastic food plus amenities. 10/10 will come back here!
The staff was welcoming, specially the valley parking staff. The room on the other hand was not ok. There too many things not working. They were addressed right away but they really should have been checked before placing guess in the room. If you need to use their laundry facility be ready to pay alot. $4.50 to use a drier. Not only its alot but the machines only take quarters, that's 18 quarters. I called the desk to ask on what floor the laundry was and they told me the machine uses quarters only but neglected to tell me how much or that they dont have a place to obtain them. I placed 8 and wasn't sure what the machine required since there are no signs on the price. I ended up leaving my money in the machine since I didn't have enough and taking my wet clothes back to my room. Very disappointed
Yoga with Paige was excellent!
Very friendly and accommodating staff! We departed from a cruise and even though we couldn’t check in early ”Kai” at the front desk took excellent care of us - Allan took our bags and held them so we did not waste the day waiting around for a room. The location is top notch. You are literally right across the street from the zoo and right across from Waikiki Beach, the park, restaurants and shops you name it! I would definitely recommend and stay in this place again! We had an excellent view of Diamondhead and the ocean and could hear the waves as they rocked us to sleep! I also loved the Olu products in each room.
Perfect location and very comfortable accommodations. Everything was clean, quiet, and well organized. I had a relaxing stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
This was our first trip to Hawaii. We were traveling with young children. Although the rooms felt a bit dated compared to newer hotels it was clean and well maintained. We stayed in a poolside room I I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a budget friendly hotel with great staff. Location is great for any planned activities.
Be a regular and love the ataff and feel like hrs home away from home
We were excited for our trip to Waikiki and our stay at the Park Shore Hotel. Online the hotel looks great, good reviews, nice views, nice rooms. Our experience was very different and very disappointing. The room we booked online was a corner suite (according to the pictures) and looked spacious. The room we received was tiny with a partial view. This room was in desperate need of repair/updates, there was mold on the ceiling, water dripping from the ceiling onto us, the bottom of the bathroom door was rotten, the carpet was torn, the curtains were ripped along with the bottom of the chairs. This is not a 4 star hotel, maybe a 2. We were going to check out however they offered us an upgrade to a bigger room at a cost to us, which we agreed to because our friends were arriving the next day, staying in the same hotel. The new room was bigger, same view and also in need of updates.
I noticed there was no glassware in the room so I called down for wineglasses and water glasses. They said they don't have any glassware to offer, only the Styrofoam cups that they give you for coffee. I have never experienced this at a 4 star hotel.
The pool is small with no ocean views. When our friends arrived, they also had a terrible room and had to upgrade at a cost. The hotel is in a quiet location, across the street from the beach, not beachfront.
Upon exploring other hotels on our trip, there are many many nicer hotels that are beachfront with nice pools and bar/food service, in the same price range. The website and photos are deceiving and I would not recommend or stay here again.
Zen fitness- Today was my first time meeting Paige and I was truly impressed. She is a wonderful person, a true professional, and has such a warm and caring approach
