My wife and I stayed here for our Honeymoon. Absolutely fantastic in every way. The ambiance, the location, the amenities, the service, the turn-down, the cleanliness, the amenities, the room, the concierge, everything was absolutely amazing. There really is no downside whatsoever to The Dylan--it is an incredible location to stay at and served as the perfect landing point for our romantic getaway. We were repeatedly blown away by the quality of service and the old-school charm of the hotel. I cannot recommend it enough and we can't wait to go back for anniversaries in the future.
I’ve stayed in many hotels and The Dylan is now officially my favourite. I only had the pleasure of staying for one night, but it was a memorable one for all the right reasons. The room was wonderful, luxurious and extremely comfortable with a great mini bar!
We ate at the Micheline star restaurant in the hotel and whilst obviously pricey, it was worth every penny; food , wine and service were impeccable. I also really appreciated that the restaurant only has one sitting, so the table is yours for the whole night; nothing worse than spending hundreds on a meal to feel rushed, this certainly was not the case here.
My favourite aspect of the hotel though, was the staff; they really make you feel very special and welcome; starting from check in , where I was offered a complimentary drink and sweet treat and then given a tour of the hotel while waiting for my room to be ready ( I was early.) Nothing was too much trouble. I embarrassingly had to call them to my room to show me how to work the lights, but they were completely charming about it. Room service/ breakfast was also wonderful. I hope to return and for longer next time! If you are looking for a perfect romantic stay or just want to go somewhere solo and experience unpretentious luxury and top class service, where you’ll be made to feel very special, this is the place!
An absolutely stunning 5-Star hotel, with impeccable service and excellent character. Nestled in busy streets of Amsterdam, the charm and hospitality of The Dylan was an amazing slice of “home”, making you feel welcome with each return back to the property. Food and beverage selection is top notch, with carefully curated dishes and details to add to the experience. Ron, and the whole concierge team is outstanding, with extensive understanding of the city. Would absolutely stay again, and looking forward to our next stay.
Front desk staff were helpful except for when I first checked in. Asked for a foam pillow and extra key but never received either one.
Hotel Room was definitely not worth the extra $$ that I had to pay above the upgrade from AMEX. View of canal wasn’t anything special or worth it. The floor in several spots were buckling, the heater didn’t work the great.
Housekeeping - took my treats and water before they were consumed. I mean??
Both restaurants I got to enjoy. The staff were very attentive at Vinklies but on the slower side at Occo
The location was great. Everything wasn’t that far away
Overall hotel was OK.
We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel in Amsterdam, and I can truly say it was a remarkable experience. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and the service is second to none.
What really sets this hotel apart, though, is their incredible kindness and flexibility. During our first planned visit back in October, my partner fell ill on the day we were supposed to fly. I emailed the hotel at the last minute, explaining the situation, and they were unbelievably accommodating. Without any hesitation or extra charge, they allowed us to reschedule our stay to December. I’ve never encountered such thoughtful and gracious service from any hotel, big or small.
This place is a true gem in the heart of Amsterdam. It’s beautiful, exquisite, and utterly unique. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning. Thanks again to the amazing team for making our stay so special!
Our stay at The Dylan was fantastic. From René’s warm welcome to the entire staff’s friendliness, we felt right at home. The room was stunning, with high ceilings, a beautiful bathtub, and top-notch finishes. The breakfast was delicious, made with the finest ingredients, and the bar’s cocktails were superb. We can’t recommend it enough!
The location is good, walking distance to everything in Amsterdam. The shared spaces are pretty and the hotel is clean. That's it, but you can also get that for much cheaper at other hotels nearby.
The biggest issue we had was that even though our room was nice, the bathroom arrangement was not functional. I would expect to be able to take a decent shower at a hotel like this and it was impossible. Our shower was basically unusable, no pressure, the water temperature kept changing, the shower head was tiny, the bathtub was clogged. We were paying over 600 euros per night, that's unacceptable.
The other issue we had was with the service, it was very inconsistent. Twice they completely forgot about what we ordered at the restaurant and the people at the lobby were not helpful when we needed some help. Overall I would expect that for the price and size of the hotel that the experience would be great but it was definitely not what I expected.
The Dylan Amsterdam is a true gem. I would describe is as a luxury boutique hotel with so much character. The hotel itself was beautiful, set back from the street by a charming entry courtyard and offering a welcome respite from the busy streets. It is incredibly well located with plenty of cafes, restaurants, markets and stores in the area, but still felt calm.
As soon as we arrived, it was clear that the level of service at The Dylan Amsterdam is exceptional. Everyone was warm and friendly, and was very helpful in offering some recommendations during our stay. We were always greeted with smiles and lovely conversations which made our stay special.
We chose to stay in one of the rooms with a canal view and the room was very well designed - modern and clean but still warm and cozy. I looked forward to the very thoughtful gifts that the management team left us every night, from famous cookies to tasty stroopwafels to Dutch cheese. The views of the canal from the room was quintessential and gorgeous. Even though our room was facing the canal, we were not bothered by any noises from outside.
Finally, the food options at the hotel were amazing. The hotel breakfast was great and offered a simple but perfect selection for any palate. We also made reservations at Vinkeles which was an experience in itself. The food was incredible and service was excellent.
My only suggestion would be to improve the gym facilities which was quite small and bare.
During my stay at The Dylan, I experienced a theft from my room — something completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be “luxury.” When I reported it, the Duty Manager, Edwin, handled it with what I would say was reactive best, if I'm being polite. ( a proactive attitude might not be a strong point at The Dylan)
Their “investigation” consisted of a quick look at the cameras (as if phones and small items can’t be concealed — common sense, really) and a reassuring statement that the person who cleaned my room is “one of their most trustworthy employees.” That means absolutely nothing to me as a guest who had something stolen.
No accountability, no meaningful action, and no follow-up other than an email that meant nothing. Housekeeping needs serious reform — particularly the manager, who seems to lack even the basics of team management, supervision, and discretion.
For a property that trades on reputation, this experience exposed carelessness, misplaced trust, and a complete lack of professional handling.
The Dylan sets the standard for a boutique luxury hotel. My wife and I chose to stay at the Dylan for a 3 day Amsterdam visit after a 10 day river cruise on the Rhine. I labored over choosing a hotel, but opted for a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, knowing the standards the group sets. The most outstanding part of our stay was the high quality of professional staff and superior service standards. Every member of the staff (reception, restaurants, housekeeping and concierge) we interacted with, were cordial, accommodating, knowledgeable, helpful and went above and beyond with a few unique requests we needed. My wife has food sensitivities to gluten and dairy and the restaurant /bar staff were very knowledgeable about food ingredients, going out of their way to provide delicious and safe food options. Our room (main building luxury double) was spacious, clean and quiet, with only 3 other rooms on the floor. There was plenty of bathroom sink counter space, separate toilet and shower and high quality adjustable lighting. The Dylan's location is perfect, being centrally located within waking distant to Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House, in addition to numerous restaurants, canals and shopping. My wife and I are seasoned travelers and have truly been spoiled by The Dylan.
What an amazing journey ! I don't know many hotels that start off with a guided tour including a history of its storied past. Wilhelmina and her staff went above and beyond expectations. We happened to be there on Kings Day and the staff diligently protected the hotel grounds. Water and a soft chair always ready. The bar with specialty drinks was a welcome respite and a place for great conversation. The room was impeccable and such attention to detail. We ate at Bar Brasserie and I never before had chicken so tender. Plan to go back when it is not so crowded. Although that was part of the fun.
We only stayed for a night due to bad weather and flight cancellation however it was an amazing stay with amazing staff, should we return to Amsterdam we will be visiting again
Great location in old 9 streets historic part of Amsterdam. Easy walkability to most sites of interest, shopping, and restaurants. The service is top notch and the facilities were great. The room was very comfortable and quiet at the time of our stay. Food was very good. The breakfast had great selection and really good service.
We loved our stay at the Dylan. It's hard to find a quiet hotel in such a busy city, but the Dylan completely delivered. Our room was beautiful, the staff was super friendly, and the location can't be beat. Located in the very cool 9 Streets neighborhood, it was easy for us to walk or tram anywhere in town. And there were lots of great restaurants all around us (including in the hotel!)
We got lots of insider tips from the hotel staff, and really loved the pre-stay email that listed all kinds of favorite things to do & places to eat. It made our planning easy and more locally focused too.
It's a splurge, but totally worth it. Stay here if you can!
Quick tip: Join the loyalty club, called Leaders Club, and book on the hotel's site, to get free breakfast - even if it's your first stay. Loved this perk!
Simply one of the best with a great team. We will be back again. N&S
The Dylan has been my favorite hotel on the planet for over a decade. When in Amsterdam, stay and be pampered.
The room is nice yet its very noisy as there’s a restaurant in the courtyard, the loud noise last till close to midnight after the restaurant is closed.
One of the great experiences of my life. Hidden. Superb staff. Best location. A place you walk to and from with a sense of the wonder of life. Perfection.
Amazing hotel
My girlfriend and I had an amazing 2 night stay at the Dylan Hotel. It was absolutely one of the best hotel experiences we've had. From the moment we arrive, the hospitality was exceptional - staff greeted us every time we entered the lobby. We felt welcomed.
The concierge team also worked their magic and secured us tickets for the Anne Frank House Museum despite it being already sold out. This gesture made our trip even more memorable.
Lastly, we had dinner at Vinkeles, the Michelin star restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The food was exquisite and each dish showcased incredible flavor. Overall, the hotel combines luxury, attention to detail, and genuine care for its guests in a way that's rare to find. I will definitely be coming back here again.
