Great hotel, second time staying here!
Good hotel
Everything was very good, thanks a lot 👌🙏
It was a short stay decent experience
Best location , welcoming staff
We had a bad experience the photos on the internet are deceiving
We checked out the next day we had booked for 3 days and left after one day
We asked for refund and hotel.com didn’t want to give us a refund
I won’t use them anymore
Solid location to the beach. For what I paid for two nights, was not worth listening to the couple walk around and talking above me all night.
The place needs some serious updating from the shower to the room door.
You can see quite a bit of dust and dirt on the hardwood floors under the beds where the maids don’t clean.
The thermostat was not adjustable in the room for those who have a preference on temp.
Housekeeping did a great job, pool restaurant & bar added the fun and resort atmosphere, convenient gym, swimsuit pop-up shop, welcoming and inclusive for all guests
The colors the vibe the acceptance of everyone
The Axel has a great location and a good price for the location. It’s also nice to stay in an LGBT centered place. Overall, I would stay there again due to location and price, but there are some things that may be helpful to know in making your decision to book:
-the hotel is more run down than it appears in pictures on the site.
-the hotel advertises 3 bars, but at least during our stay, only one was open, and that closes at 8pm. I got a Corona and a coke in a plastic cup at that bar and it cost $16.77.
-the pool area also closes at 8pm. The pool itself is frigid. There was no one in it, despite it being hot out, because it was just too cold to use.
-the hot tub does not actually bubble. It’s literally just a tub of hot water.
-the continental breakfast is not worth paying for, and there is a sign saying that if you go up more than once, you’ll be charged a second time!
-the pillows, at least in our room, were minuscule, like the size of throw pillows.
-the elevator was not working when we first got there, and for some reason, the up button on the first floor is taped over with duct tape.
-everything just kind of seems to be falling apart a bit.
Go into it with a good sense of humor and reasonable expectations and you should be okay. The room itself and housekeeping were fine, location is great, price is good, so if those are the main things you are looking for, it’s not a bad choice. If you are traveling with someone who you know is a bit fussy or considers themselves bougie, this may not be the place.
AC was set to 75 the entire time. Asked to lower it and they never did.
Good place
The staff at the hotel was absolutely amazing. Had a flight delay and the front desk staff was so kind and accommodating.
Horrid, walls are paper thin, the floor gives and feel like they will collapse. Very loud, elevator doesnt work, tv doesnt work. Carpets are stained and smells bad.
Our stay was good overall. The staff was very friendly and stored our luggage after check-out. However, we were disappointed that the steam room was out of service and that the hotel needs some maintenance—dusty artwork, dirty windows, and worn walls.
Avoid at all costs - this was worse than student accommodation. Cleanliness and general up keep were v v poor especially compared to the Axel properties in Europe. My bed had a sheet with no mattress protector or topper between that and the mattress. The fridge stank musty and the light started flashing randomly in the middle of the night. Generally the room and bathroom were in very poor state
Everything amazing
Property is well located but needs updating. Furniture was old and warn. Old building with poor very poor soundproofing. Could easily hear conversations in room next door and had the unfortunate experience of upstairs guest pacing the floor day and night. Floor coverings might help. Unlikely to stay here again.
