Location could not be better
For the price, everything quite basic
Worst dining service ever. Had to get up over and over to get a waiter. .no menu. No return asking if we want anything not once. Cleared table myself I've never seen anything like it

This hotel is impressive for striking views of the pyramids and beautiful grounds. I appreciated the experience for this alone. The woman at the concierge was exceptional in providing help in obtaining tickets to an event in Cairo.
In many other ways, it did not live up to expectations and I would make a few recommendations.
-We chose the twin beds room. Not quite 5 star quality but it was basic and clean, and there was weak air conditioning.
-The internet frequently did not work and having an internationa. data plan is essential if you need to remain connected.
-Prices for any private transportation is 10x what you would otherwise pay. For example, we requested private transportation from the hotel for a 2km trip and the Marriott charged $30 USD. I live in New York City and found this quite a lot! We used Uber instead and it was $2. We were two women traveling, and Uber was entirely safe, efficient, and professional. I would not rely on the Marriott, including the overpriced airport transportation.
-I organized a tour with the Marriott and it did not include a tour guide. Although the listing was called "tour", you had to specially check a box to request a guide since it was not included. I used viator otherwise and always had knowledgeable English speaking guides included without issue. I would have expected the same from the Marriott.
Overall, I am glad I stayed here for the once in a lifetime experience of seeing the pyramids. I had a very interesting and positive stay in Cairo and really the only experiences where I felt the money was not quite worth it was the Marriott Mena.
Posizione fantastica a pochi passi dalle piramidi
Arredamenti datati , colazione molto basica con prodotti scadenti . Non in linea con il prezzo del soggiorno
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Hospitality at Marriott Mena House, Giza
We had a truly wonderful stay at the Marriott Mena House, Giza, and are deeply grateful for the outstanding hospitality and service throughout our visit. The facilities were excellent, and we sincerely appreciate the room upgrade, which made our stay even more special.
The daily breakfast spread was absolutely amazing, made even more memorable by the breathtaking view of the Pyramids in the morning, an experience that is truly one of a kind. A special thank-you to Amal and Wageh, who went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were taken care of with warmth and attention.
We were especially touched by the extra effort they made to have masala tea ready for our group every morning, making us feel right at home. Thank you to the entire team for your exceptional hospitality, professionalism, and genuine care. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning again.
Worth every second of your time. Having stayed in downtown Cairo and this location, I would select the Mena everytime. Go visit the GEM, absolutely worth your time.
The food and staff is exceptional.
This is a nice upscale hotel. The rooms are large and well kept and the beds are comfortable. The view of the pyramids from the main restaurant is fantastic and the golf cart ride to the back entrance is handy (departure is available 8-10:40 am with pickup until 2pm FYI). Be aware that to book a spot on the golf cart requires you to send a copy of your passport and you need to book your ticket to the pyramids in advance online. We had good and reasonable spa treatments, and the spa area has a jacuzzi and sauna that guests can use with a reservation. When you arrive at the hotel there is a lot of security and you have to scan your bags, which surprised us but maybe that is normal at fancier hotels in Cairo.
This is a very good hotel. It has a perfect location for the pyramids and GEM. The staff are friendly and the beds are extremely comfortable. The rooms have excellent noise insulation and everything is very clean and tidy.
But, just a few things let it down and in my opinion, leave it outside of a proper 5 star experience….
- check-in was slow. The desk was busy and we had quite a wait to see one of the two people on the front desk
- bathrooms are small and fairly outdated
- the hotel lacks a proper bar area in the evening
- the onsite gift shops sell similar items to those found at the local market stalls near to the pyramids and other tourist sites. It really could do with a luxury boutique
- the food in the main buffet restaurant is average. (Albeit a great selection at breakfast).
Would I stay here again? Probably, but with expectations lowered. Here’s my short summary - if it was a 4 star hotel I would have given it a 5 star review. But as a 5 star hotel, it’s only really deserving of a 4 star review.
It's absolutely lovely, Historic and very safe
It's very expense, especially the car ride from the airport that doesn't even meet you in the airport. Instead you have to run a gauntlet of opportuning cab drivers and cross several lanes of traffic. Then, after locating the driver, you walk a very long way with him to the car. This costs $120 one way.
Al lado de las pirámides / las vistas / el desayuno
Le falta una renovación a las hbitaciones
Lage, Anlage, Sicherheit, freundliches Personal, gute Essensqualität
Loved this hotel!! Location unbelievable! Service superb! Food absolutely delicious!! Staff super friendly! Also the best part is that you are able to arrange a golf cart ride to the old entrance of the Giza pyramids and avoid the main entrance!! It’s not even a 5 minute ride! Awesome hotel! Worth every penny!
The location is the best part of the property. It’s almost on the pyramid grounds and if you pay for the room with pyramid views, it’s quite spectacular. I think you need to pay for a full pyramid view to really see the essence of this hotel. We had a side pyramid view, which was also nice. Food at the buffet was nice. Garden is beautiful. Complimentary late check out.
It was my wife’s birthday and considering the amount we paid for the room, some acknowledgement would have been nice. We stayed in 3 hotels during our time in Egypt, this one being the most costly and the only one not to make her feel special on this big day. I think the room had just been varnished too so had the strong varnish smell.
