We have just enjoyed the best multi generational Christmas stay at your hotel. We were 4 generations aged from 1 to 86 yrs old and staying in 3 rooms. We had wonderful service, great food, excellent staff, superb walks, fantastic sea views and an amazing Christmas. Thank you all for working so hard over the Christmas period so we could enjoy our time away. We just had the best time. Our sea views were breathtaking. An ever changing view. The beds were so comfy with lovely linen. The pool was great and the sauna and hot tub were relaxing. The bars were great and the Christmas activities and entertainment were fun. 🤩 Any issues that did arise were handled and resolved professionally and quickly. Thank you
I stayed here with my family for Christmas (9 of us in total including 4 young children) and couldn’t recommend this hotel enough for a family break! The staff are all incredibly friendly, the food was incredible and the children’s play area fantastic and being right next to the restaurant removes that boredom for younger children between courses! The hotel offered lots of kids activities during each day which were so helpful in keeping little ones entertained, and the visit from Santa was magical. We were fortunate enough to stay in a family room with sea view, and the view over Fistral Bay is fantastic & is worth requesting.
Our room was excellent but the Quicksilver room used by son was cold even after maintenance visit.
Sea view great, cleanliness excellent, bar enjoyable, Christmas lunch very good.
Several families left children unsupervised which rather lessened our overall enjoyment.
Prices are reasonable but glad I booked reserved parking. Non residents used free spaces to access Fistral beach
Breakfast ok but expensive at £25 per head.
My partner and I visited to celebrate the end of a rough few months. We had a lovely room with the most fantastic sea view. Very clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, water and shortbread.
Spa area is small with a nice pool, hot tub and sauna. Unfortunately the sauna was not hot when my partner used it, seemed not to be working properly which was a shame.
Breakfast was lovely. Sausages on the first morning were delicious and great quality. The second morning they were cheap and nasty which was disappointing. The rest of breakfast was really good. There were Christmas parties both nights so we didn’t have dinner in the restaurant. Cocktail bar is nice, they do a great margarita!
All in all, a really nice trip and we would return. The views and location really made the trip for us, would thoroughly recommend!
Based on value for money (winter deal 3 nights for 2) this was an excellent stay. We very warmly welcomed by Claudia and Scarlett. The room was clean and comfortable but a little small for a family. Loved the Gaia toiletries and the children’s Gruffalo toiletries were thoughtful. There were lots of nice touches like shortbread in a jar and a kids hot chocolate tray in the room plus milk and cookies on reception at bedtime. Parking is limited but there is plenty on the road and free of charge. Everywhere is well presented and looks recently refreshed. We didn’t eat but had some nice drinks in the bar; staff were friendly and you can sit in the cosy bar or out in the conservatory type area overlooking the sea. Each morning we walked on Fistral beach and there are shops and eateries. We used the pool; lovely additional but as only small it does get busy. There are lots of thoughtful additions for children; soft play, book corner, cinema etc I would definitely stay here again if the price point was similar.
Front of house lacked warmth. Service slow. Food poor - had half board and regretted it. Took two hours for evening meal and hardly anyone else in restaurant. Left two main meals as they were the worse meals out we’ve ever tasted. Room was fine. Cocktail bar closed to residents as private function despite being advertised as a feature of the hotel. No notice of this.
Great 3 night stay! . Amazing location, staff were all very friendly and helpful. We only did the basic room but had a lovely comfy bed, fridge, tv etc and all very clean, loved the pool and sauna. Lounge area and restaurant beautiful spot to watch the waves and relax.
We don’t have children but if you do they are very accommodating..book corner, play areas, free cinema , kids area in pool and they’d had a silent disco for the kids when we were there. Also dog friendly.
Didn’t opt for breakfast as that would have doubled the cost for our stay and as only eat a small brekkie seemed a lot to spend. Nice walk to town and cabs around if feeling lazy. We found parking round the corner (not much out front).
What a wonderful three nights stay we have just had. Was as good as in March, lovely Christmas decorations and trees up. Quicksilver Room was excellent and spotless.Restaurant manager James is a super star at his job making sure everyone is happy. Food was excellent and breakfasts each morning plenty to choose from. Only quibble the windows in our room didn’t shut well thus each night the wind was whistling through. But it didn’t detract from our lovely hotel stay again .
We stayed at The Esplanade Hotel in August 2025 with our two-year-old son. The hotel itself was pleasant and family-friendly, but unfortunately the experience has been completely overshadowed by a £60 parking charge issued by Smart Parking Ltd shortly after our visit.
When we arrived around 9pm, the car park was full. I parked briefly by the entrance, for about 15 minutes to check in and safely unload luggage and a toddler before moving the car off-site. The receptionist knew the car was there and didn’t mention any issue or registration process. Weeks later, I received a parking fine for that short unloading stop.
I’ve contacted the hotel several times to ask for help resolving this, but despite polite follow-ups, they’ve stopped replying altogether. It’s deeply disappointing to see a complete lack of customer care, especially when the issue stems from a genuine guest simply checking in with a young child late at night.
A shame, as the hotel itself was nice — but guests should be aware that you risk a £60 fine for taking more than 10 minutes to unload at the door.
A pleasure from start to finish. Attentive staff. Special shout out to the cleaning staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast was great and all staff in general made it a very pleasant stay. Facilities are great and views of Fistral are unbeatable.
Came here for a solo mini break, it was fabulous. Gorgeous sea view room, great facilities and amazing food. All of the staff are so nice!! Especially Sarah and Josh who work in the restaurant, they made me feel so welcome! Thankyou for a fabulous time here. Will definitely be back
Ok
Really lovely hotel very welcoming with a smile which makes you feel comfortable. It is a family hotel but also suitable for couples. Great good size rooms with either excellent views of Fistral beach or a back view which I am not sure about. Breakfast a good choice of hot and cold loved the fried eggs I must say. Evening meal was a good choice too and just enough to choice from I believe all Cornish food. Facilities very good swimming pool Sauna and a hot tube all very clean. The hotel was very clean and all staff seem to be enjoying working for the hotel. Had a school group in and were very good with them I noticed. Thank you for a good stay will back. Oh should say high up rooms a good choice.
Great place, lovely staff, amazing views, very clean, free parking on site or on the road, nice pool & sauna, nice biscuits in the room
We emailed hotel and requested an accessible bathroom with shower due to husbands spinal surgery and was given an inaccessible bathroom. He could not get in the bathroom at all due to its small size. WE had to use communal shower in pool area.
Room was cleaned daily.
Reception staff and restaurant/bar staff were all fantastic.
Hotel location is great for beach views.
Clean room.Staff great,wonderful place and
Everything around the hotel was great.Definitely will stay again.
I would like to compliment the Bar Steward Shay, absolutely brilliant always smiling, helping every customer and nothing is too much trouble, asset to the Hotel, looking forward to bringing more passengers too the Hotel
I honestly expected more for the price – it felt like we were mostly paying for the location. While the staff were friendly and some facilities were decent, the overall experience was underwhelming. Breakfast was particularly disappointing, especially as the coffee machine wasn’t working
Just coming to the end of a 5 night stay at The Esplanade on a coach holiday . First impressions from the outside - hotel looked rather drab and uncared for , however inside things were far better . Staff helpful , nothing too much trouble . Comfortable seating in the reception area with fabulous views over Fistral Beach . We had an adapted room (125) on the first floor . Comfortable large bed , good linen and adequate lighting/sockets . Good hairdryer in dressing table drawer . Excellent tea tray which was replenished daily . There was a small fridge . Plenty of coat hangars in the wardrobe , together with a fan and heater . There was also two towelling dressing gowns with slippers and towels for use in the spa . The bathroom was very large as expected with a bath and walk in shower , excellent range of Gaia toiletries and good towels . However there was nowhere except for the side of the bath to put the towels - no rails - which we found strange .
The breakfast and dinner were both good , a choice of three options for each of the three courses in the evening , which you pick the night before . Breakfast - plenty of choice of cold selections , pastries cereals yoghurts fruit and juices . There’s tea and coffee also available and the obligatory hotel toaster. There is also a hot food selection which is replenished quickly . Service in the dining room is by a band of youngsters who cope admirably . There was a problem one evening as they were short staffed and we all had to wait for a long time .
The position of the hotel is on Fistral Bay, lots of places to walk and a 30 minute hike into Newquay . However as everywhere is in a steep incline it’s not advisable for people with mobility issues - I was unable to take my husband out in the locality in his wheelchair because of this .
However for people without mobility problems there’s some great challenging walks
Lovely location overlooking the beach. Always clean, great food. Staff are welcoming. Not far from Newquay town. Returning in October
