It is a Grand America
Pros:

i was looking forward to bringing my wife here after I had been here many years ago.
It was perfect after having an active several days in Park City.

The Spa experience is wonderful, my wife and I each had nice massages, they have a nice lounge with drinks and snacks, sauna, steambath, sveral shower head rooms to choose from.
I had left my chain in the pocket of my robe in the locker. The next day it was found in the laundry and security met me to return it.
They also have a separate indoor pool which is huge on the 4th Floor and has a jacuzzi there. Private elevator entrance for those coming from the spa area. Walk in entrance for anyone else at the hotel.

The Executive Suite is very spacious, had an outstanding west facing view on the 15th floor. Gold accented bathroom, tub, shower, 2 safes, 2 robes, finely appointed.
Such a treat.

Beautiful lighting outside in their courtyard. ( Picture -Video taking )
So many children and families enjoying the Gingerbread house inside and Chirstmas window motifs. Wonderful to see afternoon tea time with a Harpist playing.

Spent time in the business center, it was nice to have a somewhat private spot in there getting some business done on my laptop. And of course I was eventually offered coffee or tea. No thanks but a nice gesture.!

The New Years Eve Brunch in Laurel was superb.
Such a quality display and quality of variety and taste.
Love the 3 man band, they were so good unique instrumentals, what is their name ?

Great way to end the year, Im just surpised they dont have a New Years Eve Bash inside to end the evening (Year )

Thsi is a rare find.

Outdated and bad housekeeping
Pros:

Stayed over the holidays and was incredibly disappointed. The Grand America isn't what it used to be. The holiday decorations in the lobby were great, but housekeeping was shockingly bad.

We specifically requested NO housekeeping service, but they entered the room anyway to allegedly tidy up and literally took our holiday decorations, unopened food, and an unopened bottle of expensive wine. There was absolutely no way these items could be confused as trash. The front desk said there was "some miscommunication" and only offered a credit, which hardly covered the cost of the wine. We spent a few hours going through the rest of our belongings to make sure nothing else was missing. This is not how you want to spend a holiday vacation.

The hotel used to be well-run and maintained. It just isn't the case anymore. The chair and sofa in the room even had stains on it and the carpet needed to be replaced. This place just isn't worth your money.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Pros:

We stayed with family (extended) and we had a grouping of three executive suites. All of our rooms were spotless, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable. There were robes for all adults - I loved the robe so much I purchased one from the gift shop to take home! The staff is extremely well-trained in hospitality (something that seems to be a forgotten art these days). We were here during the holiday season and the grounds were absolutely GORGEOUS. Just a lovely stay enjoyed by us all: parents, teens, and young children - a true Christmas miracle! The only thing I am sad about is not being able to make a reservation for the afternoon tea. I do wish hotel guests would receive an option to book as they reserve rooms but other than that, a wonderful stay. Next time we are in SLC, we will be at the Grand America. Five Stars all around.

4 Star Experience
Pros:

We stayed over the holidays and underestimated how busy the hotel would be.
Ambience: the lobby was very crowded and having to wade through people blocking access to the guest elevators and children running up and down for the window viewing was overwhelming at times. The building, however, is beautiful and we enjoyed walking through the quieter areas.
Accommodation: we liked the spacious executive Queen suite, and the bathroom was luxurious. We were disappointed that a 5-star hotel only provides paper cups in the rooms - this was remedied when proper cups were delivered to our room on request.
Dining: the Christmas Day buffet was a disappointment, and we did not feel it justified the price. The service was attentive, but the music was too loud, the food was lukewarm and there were not enough healthy options. The afternoon tea, however, was wonderful with nice service and a better ambience. The only negative was that a gratuity was automatically added to our bill, with an option to add yet another gratuity. For two people, the gratuity amount should be at our discretion, and we would probably have tipped more had this been the case.
In general, we enjoyed our stay, but we consider this to be a 4-star hotel charging 5-star prices.

Very nice hotel at a reasonable price
Pros:

This is a very nice hotel esp. for the price. The public areas and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are well appointed. The gym and indoor swimming pool are also very nice. There is a sauna and steam room but only available if you book a spa service. The staff can be very friendly. That said, I am a bit confused that some sites rate the hotel as "5 stars". It is clean and comfortable but do not expect that this will be the Four Seasons or similar. It isn't nor does it try to be (nor is it priced to be). If you're looking for that level of luxury and service, there are several choices in Deer Valley. Still, if you're just looking for a comfortable place in downtown SLC for a few nights with nice facilities and more charm than a chain business hotel, this is a good choice.

Elegant, Beautiful, and Functional
Pros:

I was only able to stay one night but wish I could have extended my trip. This hotel is gorgeous - the sleeping rooms are elegantly decorated with lots of crown molding and marble bathrooms - it was so over the top but I loved it! Meeting/conference space was equally nice, with good acoustics and ample signage for rooms. I'd like to come back and spend more than one night there in the future!

Not enough time to pamper myself
Pros:

The last time I visited Salt Lake City, Utah, the Grand America Hotel was an architect's blueprint on a draft board. It was built in 2001. Located at 555 Main Street, four blocks from Temple Square, it is a luxury hotel from top to bottom. Unfortunately, after an exhausting 800-mile trip from Grand Island, Nebraska, I wasn't in a mood to pamper myself. The Grand America features a spa, indoor swimming pool, spa tub, sauna, fitness center, concierge, restaurant, bar, room service, 24-hour front desk, lounge, cafe, shops, wireless internet access, even afternoon tea. I booked a Premier 1 King Room with 700 square feet of luxury, French Richelieu furnishings, floor to ceiling windows, separate seating area, complimentary wi-fi, marble bathroom with separate glass shower and soaking tub, air conditioning, desk, free newspapers, in-room safe, flat screen HDTV and iron/ironing board. A wonderful place to stay. But not enough time to visit Temple Square, the Mormon Tabernacle, the Beehive House or Brigham Young's gravesite.

Incredible stay to celebrate wedding and an anniversary!
Pros:

We treated ourselves to a stay at the Grand America this past summer to celebrate our son’s wedding and our upcoming 10th anniversary. We had a truly wonderful experience and would definitely stay again! The staff are incredible, the rooms and property expansive and elegant, food excellent, and views amazing!

We each stayed in the executive view 1 king suites - and these rooms are lavish! They have a separate living room, giant marble jetted tub with separate shower and toilet rooms, French doors, and TWO balconies with gorgeous views of Salt Lake City.

My DIL and I came the day before for an afternoon tea in the lounge and afterwards the concierge was gracious enough to give us a tour of the rooms and the spa pool and facilities. PRO TIP - be sure to ask for the west facing rooms for incredible sunset views! You won’t regret it!

I handled all the bookings online myself (very easy) and surprised the kids with some cakes and macarons as well as their “Grand Celebration Cake” since the poor kids didn’t even get themselves a wedding cake lol!! The cake was absolutely gorgeous and so delicious - the kids loved it and told me they had a great time cutting it together later that night - it made their day so thank you Grand America!!

I also surprised the hubby with a “confection collection sampler” for our anniversary which comes with four small slices of a variety of their cakes. There was a blueberry cheesecake, a chocolate moose cake, chocolate tart, and tiramisu. Omg their cakes are FANTASTIC!! Every single one of them. Highly recommend!

Before dinner we all had fun swimming in their indoor spa pool and then relaxing in the hot tub. It’s such a beautiful indoor pool area with incredible views, tons of lounges to relax on, and chic spa vibes. After we cleaned up, we all had dinner in the on site restaurant, The Laurel, and ommggg that food was off the charts amazing. We will definitely be coming back here again.

The hotel is extensive with several food options and shops. Everything about it is grand opulence - giant chandeliers everywhere surrounded by marble, rich colors, and historic furniture pieces. It really is like staying in a French chateau.

We saw so many guests wandering around in their robes which was so funny - and after our morning swim we did it too haha! We wandered down to the little French cafe in our robes and had breakfast LOL! Our stay was such a treat - nothing but fun, relaxation, opulence and extravagance!

Tysm to all the staff for making our celebrations that much more special! We’ll definitely be back!

Wonderful Hotel!
Pros:

We only got to spend one night at the Grand America because we were connecting with a tour group the next day, but this hotel is gorgeous. Very European and beautiful. Our room was huge with an equally huge bath and dressing room. The food in the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed dinner there plus breakfast the following day. Staff was very nice. Hotel was spotless as was our room. We would stay there again! Highly recommended.

Overhyped but okay
Pros:

Location was beautiful and staff was kind. But beds were too firm and pillows too soft. We could not sleep at all. Also, I was really hoping they would do something special for our anniversary and didn’t. We ordered room service 2x. The food was great but very overpriced for such small portions. We also got sick from something we ate.

I’ve been staying at this hotel for over 20 years and it is one of my all-time favorites.
A gorgeous experience, whether you go in the winter or the summer. It is an older, beautiful historical hotel that they keep up-to-date and clean and you feel so special! I will never stop going to The Grand Americs!
