Independence 47 Hotel

When we got to our room, there was a cockroach on the bed. I called and requested a different room, which also had dead cockroaches in it. The room had not been cleaned thoroughly - there were dirty socks, trash and a hospital wrist band left in the room. There was also an odor in the room that smelled like a mixture of cleaning solution and urine. There was no bedding/pillows for the sofa bed in the room and the front desk did not have any pillows. The sofa bed was also extremely uncomfortable. We were highly disappointed with our stay - I definitely would not recommend this hotel.

Was extremely disappointed after looking at reviews and booking this hotel. Room was dated, thin sheet, super thing blanket. Room had a funny odor and there was a guy outside smoking a room over and the smell just sucked into the room stinking it up more. Heating unit was very load when being ran, then on night it sounded like it was going to explode and had to be shut off, was very cold that night. When it was told to the front desk at check out the girl seemed like she didn’t even care or offer an apology. She just wrote it on a small piece of paper. Definitely not the friendliest or best customer service at check in or check out. Over priced for what you got as a room.

I booked this hotel for friends visiting Scottsdale. Room was for 3 nights. My friends were so disgusted by the quality of this room they left after 1 night. Room had blood stains on floor, blinds were missing, hallway reeked of smoke. Think twice about this place. In fact don’t even think about booking it.

The furniture in the "suites" was old, worn out, and nasty. It seemed like it had been there since 1975. I went to Target and bought throw blankets for the chair and sofa, because it was so gross that you would never sit on it.

You could hear the sound of RATS crawling and scratching around in the ceiling and walls the entire time. The walls were very thin, and the other guests were often very loud. There were BUGS all around outside, around the doors, laying dead in the hallways, etc. The whole place SMELLED NASTY, like mold. The laundry room was GROSS, and never cleaned. They gave me TOWELS WITH HOLES in them.

And then they had the nerve to keep my entire $200 cash deposit, taking advantage of the fact that I had to leave the night before my check-out date, because I had to work the next day. They said I could come back for the deposit later, which I tried to do, but they decided to just keep it, completely fabricating an excuse for keeping it.

Check in was good, hotel room was very basic, and needed some updates, doors scratched up needing repainted, stains on the bedskirt, curtains and lounge chair..stayed 3 nights, did not have housekeeping come in the room but when we went to ask for extra towels were told that they have a towel shortage...swimming area was nice but trees surrounding area were loosing leaves into the pools and hot tub....no continental breakfast, had small items to individually purchase.

They advertise the kids full does not work they advertise breakfast they do not have anything available only coffee the rooms are dirty the air conditioner in the gym does not work the front desk people are very polite

Stayed here 4 nights. Room was good size but dated. I might have given a higher rating if not for the bites on my arms and legs. I called the hotel to alert them to bed bugs in Room 308 and was told it was spiders or other insects. She said they were aware of it and on top of it. From pictures found on Internet, they sure look like bed bug bites.

Clean and well maintained.
Staff are very accomodating.

Everything was wonderful but the pool area needed more cleaning just due to all the leaves from the trees in the pools, the shower needed attended to in the room the shower head was clogged not have steady stream and hard to get plug pulled for the shower to work

This was the first time I ever booked a hotel through Price breaker on Priceline. I was looking for something reasonably priced in the Scottsdale area, which is usually hard to find, especially this time of year. This is the one Priceline chose for me, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

The gentleman at the front desk who checked us in was very nice and sociable. It is an older building so things may be a little bit more worn looking, but everything was clean and well-maintained. It was a very quiet location as well. Nice pool. They don’t offer breakfast but have a little snack area with reasonably priced snacks and sodas as well. I would definitely stay here again.

If you’re looking for a high end hotel in Scottsdale this will not be your pick. But if you just want a nice quiet, clean location this will work for you.

The lady at the front desk was nice and very helpful. Can definitely tell the hotel is not maintained well. The rooms were clean but dirty. The bathroom was gross and the shower took forever to drain. There was hair on the bed and floors. The fridge did not work. The pool was nice besides the leaves in the pool and hot tub. The hot tub wasn’t very hot.

I’ve spent many months in hotels for work. It was nice to have a clean, quiet convenient room with decent parking. Also, my car was never stolen !! Bonus !

Staff was pleasant but our room was disgusting. Smelt awful-unclean, musty, just bad. Stains all over the carpet. Furniture was damaged and peeling, sliding door was broken, trash around the deck area, etc. I cancelled our reservation as soon as I got to our room. I could not spend 3 nights in that dirty hotel.

It’s hard to say but the people were friendly , fast check in, the pool needs a little clean but the parking is very accessible and the green area is well maintained, but the room oh no, the carpet smelled and was dirty, the beds hard as rocks and for the covers , I have never been in a hotel that gives you curtains as covers, the bathroom was dirty by that I mean it need to be scrubbed. The size of the rooms were big but I felt for those prices I was disappointed in the rooms , the ice machine filthy and the towels were pieces of strings. It would be a nice hotel to stay in because it’s so close to so much places, but the owners should invest more on keeping the rooms up and updating and cleanliness. Would I recommend, if your on a tight budget yes, but if you can afford it , go somewhere else , I would not stay there anymore.

The hotel is pretty conveniently placed for activities near Scottsdale. It wasn't too far of a drive to get to hiking trails nor to go shopping in Old Town. I also thought the pool area was pleasant. The amenities were pretty standard for the price of the stay.

The suites were not updated but were huge. Bed was kind of hard. Front desk girl, Mayci, was great. No breakfast. Clean property.

Grounds were nice, you could not tell that you were in the city.

Biggest complaint was that the hot tube was dirty (tree litter and dirt) and was barely warm enough to be called a hot tub. There was never any towels at the pool.

Also, the bed sheets were paper thin and I could not stay warm. I had to jack the heat up.

Lovely property; comfy beds; quiet location, close to everything we wanted to do!

It was satisfactory. Room was clean and it's in a good location. No breakfast.
