Perfect and quiet location away from the chaos of the city further north
The property had very steep stairs, which we were told about before booking but still a challenge
It’s the extra little things that make this a lovely hotel to stay in. The welcome drink, complimentary tea or coffee and cake in the afternoon and the lovely staff. We stayed in room 14.
A big thank you to the guy (sorry forgot his name) who ran to the tram stop to give me my bag I had left - we were going to the airport! Thank you again for a lovely stay in the best location x
The hotel is created within a traditional canal house overlooking the Prinsengracht canals. My room was number 14 on the top floor at the front side of the hotel. There were a few flights of steep carpeted stairs leading to the room. From the landing there was a door which led to rooms 14 and 15 - the extra door helps to keep the noise to a minimum from the landing area. The room was finished to a high standard, beautifully decorated and with high quality furnishings. Tea/coffee and water was complimentary, the mini-bar not included. The windows were single glazed so it is possible to hear the comings and goings outside, including trams etc. This didn't disturb me overnight. The staff were polite and professional. Check in and check out was without any issue.
The hotel was a high standard, however if I had to pick something the bathroom walls would benefit from some paint touch ups around the sink area. The throw on the bed looked a bit tired and bobbled and would benefit from a new one. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and the hair dryer was a typical standard hotel hairdryer so not that powerful. I wouldn't let these things put you off though, it really is a lovely hotel in a beautiful old building.

This is possibly the best hotel in all of Amsterdam!!! The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and very comfortable. The staff is outstanding and made our family feel so incredibly welcome. The kitchen area is lovely and pleasant to sit in. We will 100% stay here again when we return to Amsterdam.

Room was very well appointed, bed was super comfortable.
It is an old and historic building thus soundproofing was rather bad. You can hear everything that takes place on the street, even people talking.
