The Betsy Hotel, South Beach

Perfect location for anyone interested in the South Beach scene and Art Deco architecture. Across from the beach with a rooftop pool and a deck overlooking the ocean.
Food was very good in the lobby restaurant, as were the drinks.
Juan the bellman at the front desk puts hospitality first and is always doing his best to take care of guests.

We stayed at The Betsy for our recent trip to South Beach and it was wonderful. The staff was so welcoming from the moment we walked in. Every front desk staffer we interacted with was so helpful during our stay. In particular, our housekeepers - Terline, Herlande, and Carla - made sure our room stayed tidy.

The hotel gave the impression of staying at a posh friend's place. The hotel is tastefully decorated with fun and joyful art. It has direct beach access, so you can just cross the street and sit in one of their chairs (not all South Beach hotels have this). The drinks and food were also great. Can't wait to go back!

Our server was Darwin who was very kind and attentive. The food is delicious and full of flavor. The drinks are fresh and refreshing. This is an excellent stop for lunch on Ocean Dr.

The hotel is vibrant, full of energy, and charm. Incredible art and books add so much character and thought to the experience. Every corner is considered with beautiful pieces - even the elevators. Loved the unique spaces, including the amazing library, rooftop pool, coffee shop, and courtyards. Loved how the hotel is inspired by a dog, Betsey. She is almost a celebrity there, and my kids were so excited to see her every day in her spot. The room was spacious. The food at LT was phenomenal.

I had a fantastic experience from the moment I arrived: great hospitality, a charming atmosphere, and outstanding personnel. I've got a wonderful room, nice, clean, comfortable, with everything I wished for, including a grand piano and a gorgeous terrace. Location is perfect, close to the beach with excellent beach services. I also enjoyed the artistic and musical atmosphere. Great amenities, including two swimming pools, library area and nice restaurant and bar. It's definitely will be my top choice for my next trips to Miami.

My husband and I stayed at The Betsy in a Betsy balcony with an atrium view. Some have complained the rooms were small, but I would completely disagree. The room was very spacious with an extra sitting/dressing area. The bathroom is large. The bedroom and closet are a good size and the balcony was great (except the outdoor chairs were a tad uncomfortable). The atrium (or the alley beside it) got quite noisy in the morning, not the hotels fault and the doors blocked the noise as well as the provided noise machine).

The hotel is a bit hard to navigate at first. There are two buildings, one on Ocean Dr and the other directly behind on Collins. We were on the Collins side and when entering from the Ocean side had to take elevator up to floor 3 and then find the elevator on that floor to go back down to floor 2. Not a problem, one we figured it out. And it again gave us the opportunity to explore the hallways.

Our favorite amenity was the beach front chairs and umbrella. We went every day at different times and there is never a shortage of chairs, which was nice not having to get up in the early hours to secure a chair. There are two pools, one by the lobby and one on the rooftop. We enjoyed the rooftop a couple of days. The space is small, but it is still nice with great views.

The best surprise were the books and art. We enjoyed wandering around the hotel looking at all of the musicians (my husband's favorite) and the books (my favorite). Plus the hospitality is unmatched. Every employee was friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is great, at the top of Ocean Drive which is away from the party scene. But we walked and biked everywhere. Don't miss the Beachwalk that goes from South Pointe to the North Beach. It is amazing.

We will definitely be back.

Excellent atmosphere, service, and food

There are so many things that make staying at the Betsy a unique experience. The staff goes above and beyond to create a postive environent. George welcomed us warmly at the front desk. Juan kicked off our vacation with complimentary Prosecco. We looked forward to chatting with Juan every time we were in the lobby. He always offered us waters and asked if we needed anything. Great service!

The halls of The Betsy are filled with photographs of historic Florida and classic musicians. We loved wandering the halls and taking time to enjoy the art.

My wife participated in the morning yoga on the ocean side rooftop. Which by the way, the Ocean View rooftop is the best kept secret! We found ourselves enjoying our time up there looking out at the ocean.

Josh at the pool rooftop bar crafted us some incredible cocktails. The highlight was his watermelon spicy margarita! Knowing that we liked a speciality cocktail, Josh recommended Swizzle Rum Bar. It was a short walk from the Betsy and an incredible experience! We absolutely loved it.

At night, we enjoyed listening to the music at the Betsy piano bar. We met some other lovely guests and had awesome drinks.

We had breakfast every morning at the LT restaurant. My wife loved the pancakes and I ordered the classic breakfast. It was a great way to start the day before heading to the beach.

Overall, we had a terrific stay at The Betsy!

We stayed for 2 night and had the best welcome and experience here it was amazing. We spent a lot of the time at the rooftop pool and the staff there are great especially Josh the barman who is a a good guy and keeps your drinks flowing.

We would like to thank Fritz for his assistance with our luggage from the room to the car. He was very kind, attentive, and helpful at all times. This kind of service truly makes a difference and enhances the overall hotel experience. Thank you very much for the excellent service.

Delicious food, great recommendations, all the little things done well!

As a Miami native, I tend to stay away from South Beach. It feels like something that belongs to tourists—not us. THEN I stayed a the Betsy for a week-and my entire perspective changed.

Everything was elegant without sacrificing comfort. The room was clean and comfortable. The food in all the restaurants-beyond fantastic. Every nook at cranny of the two buildings is filled with art made by or about locals and other artists. The poetry quotes around every corner a reminder to really take everything in and be present. Pups were welcomed and treated really well too. The library and Carlton cafe, excellent places to send some emails while still feeling like you’re on vacation. The courtyard framed with trees wrapped in blooming orchids a quiet outdoor space filled with color and life. Both pools refreshing. The live jazz every night a phenomenal day to wind down the day.

Then you have the service. Every single employee was kind. They ask your name, ask how your day was and really wait for the answer making you feel like you’re at a family member's super luxe home and not a hotel. I often time saw go out of their way for a guest without fuss or fanfare making everybody feel genuinely welcomed and pampered.

I have never felt so at home at a hotel or on south beach. Worth every penny and more. I can’t wait to visit again.

Really wanted to love this hotel. It has positives, great staff, beautiful common spaces, good foo, but not enough to justify $1,000+ per night.

The double room in the Dixon wing was a major letdown. Extremely small, no storage (we couldn’t unpack), and worst of all, a strong mildewy smell with a damp environment, the beds even felt wet. We found stains on the walls consistent with mold, and when we got home, everything in our luggage (even unworn clothes) smelled and had to be washed. My daughter was constantly coughing whenever we were in the room, and sleeping there was very uncomfortable.

I tried airing the room out, but the window wouldn’t stay open—I had to prop it up with an ice bucket. The phone didn’t work, so I couldn’t call for help, and the front desk was always too busy to wait. The AC/vents also seemed poorly maintained and clogged with dust and lint, which made air circulation hard.

Also, you have to pay $20 per bed at the beach...

At this price point, this just shouldn’t happen.
