Staff was friendly, hotel/room was clean but hotel needs some updating and better training for house keeping staff.
Pros:

Staff was very friendly and helpful. you could tell they are trying to keep the hotel clean and up to date just maybe didn’t have the tools to do so. Also was a nice location pretty much right across the street from universal studios.

Cons:

When we checked in on the 1st morning, they were doing the continental breakfast and the toaster was smoking so bad the whole lobby was filled with smoke and it smelled like a fire was about to start, the house keeper was walking around with her earbuds in just totally ignoring it. Another guest eating breakfast had to turn off the toaster to stop it from smoking/starting a fire and get the house keepers attention for her to do something about it. We then went to our room on the 6th floor and the elevator was a little sketchy(very slow and making all sorts of noises). When we got off the elevator all we could smell was a strong menthol/chemical smell filling the entire hallway as well as our room. When we walked into the room, it was very clean/neat but the smell was very bad. When we went to bed that night, we pulled back the blanket and the sheets in the bed were all ripped up like someone had taken a knife and sliced them. Next morning we went down for breakfast and they were serving raisin brand, frosted flakes, and some microwave sandwiches. We walked across the street to Burger King to eat. Later that afternoon noon we went out to the pool and we were disappointed. The concrete around the pool was all cracking and chipped and the pool had a lot of leave and debris in the water. Also the AC unit in our room was ridiculously loud to the point it was waking us up at night. It sounded like it was about to break down and it was leaking water all over the floor. Mold on the bathroom ceiling and wall.

Great service for a Smooth Stay
Pros:

The whole stay was smooth. At check in, the room was not ready but front desk offered to hold our luggage until our room was ready. When the shower drain wasn’t functioning right, maintainence got it fixed the same day. Our stay was quiet, the TV was up to date, and AC worked. The lobby coffee was a very nice touch. My friends and I had a great time and it is thanks to hard work of the staff at this hotel.

Pros:

The only thing decent about this place is the breakfast. Room was terrible. My room door wouldn’t even open properly I had to bust it in every time. Everything chipped and dirty looking in the bathroom. The worst part about it was the transportation shuttle. If you don’t show up at least 20 minutes early, they will leave you. You have to find transportation yourself ot wait until the next shuttle time. Universal agent at the Marriott was very unaccommodating named Jessica and she apparently talked to her manager Jessica to help my daughters and I get transportation after we showed up for the shuttle on time but they still left us. The universal agent wasn’t able to help us at all and we were left to wait another hour for the next shuttle. I’ll never book at this hotel again it’s not worth it.

My family has stayed at this hotel twice before, so we booked it again with confidence. Unfortunately, this visit became one of the worst travel experiences we have ever had.

We reserved our room almost two months in advance through Booking.com and informed the hotel that we would arrive late. After driving from Toronto to Buffalo and flying to Orlando, we finally arrived shortly after midnight due to a flight delay.

Instead of checking us in, the front desk informed us that the hotel had overbooked and our reserved room was gone. We were eventually given a King room instead of the Two Queen Beds room we had booked.

After entering the room, we discovered that the door would not lock properly. Concerned for my family's safety, I politely returned to the front desk and requested another room.

The manager responded with hostility instead of assistance. He insisted the lock was fine, accused me of causing problems, and ultimately told us we were no longer welcome at the hotel.

At around 1:00 AM, while traveling with my 13-year-old child, we were threatened with police simply because we reported a room safety issue. The police were called, and we were forced to leave the hotel in the middle of the night.

My child was terrified and cried throughout the incident. The beginning of what should have been a wonderful family vacation became an unforgettable nightmare.

I also found it unacceptable that the hotel refused to provide any registration paperwork or receipt after taking my ID and credit card.

I have submitted formal complaints to Marriott and Booking.com and requested that they review the hotel's security camera footage and staff records from the night of June 20, 2026.

Hotels make mistakes. Overbooking can happen. What defines customer service is how those mistakes are handled. In our case, we were met with hostility, intimidation, and a complete lack of professionalism.

I sincerely hope Marriott investigates this incident so that no other family experiences what we did.

**Terrible Experience – We Were Asked to Leave at 1:00 AM**

We have stayed at this hotel twice before and always had a good experience, which is why we booked it again for our family vacation.

Unfortunately, this stay was completely different.

Although we booked almost two months in advance and informed the hotel that we would arrive late, we were told upon arrival that the hotel had overbooked and our reserved room was no longer available.

The replacement room they gave us had a door that would not lock properly. I politely asked for another room because I did not feel safe staying there.

Instead of resolving the problem, the manager became angry, accused me of being rude, and told my family to leave the hotel. He even threatened to call the police—and did.

At around 1:00 AM, my family, including my 13-year-old child, was escorted out of the hotel. My child was frightened and cried throughout the incident.

This situation began because of the hotel's own overbooking and the defective room they assigned us, yet we were treated as though we had done something wrong simply for asking for a safe room.

This experience completely ruined the beginning of our vacation. I have filed formal complaints with Marriott and Booking.com and hope this incident is fully investigated.

I cannot recommend this hotel based on the way we were treated.
