Great place to indulge and great breakfast in a beautiful setting building and gardens and staff were excellent
Nothing at all
Beautiful building and grounds, lovely stay and experience. Didn’t get chance to try the spa but looked lovely out the bedroom window!
Beer and cider choice was limited
The new Sakura Spa is simply to die for. I’m not usually someone who visits spas, but with this one being brand new, I thought I’d give it a try and I’m so glad I did.
My treatment was absolutely wonderful. I genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. It was luxurious, deeply relaxing, and exceeded every expectation. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. From the hosts to the management team, everyone went above and beyond to make the experience feel special.
The spa itself is beautifully designed, with peaceful relaxation areas both indoors and outdoors. Every detail has clearly been carefully considered, from the relaxation rooms and saunas to the restaurant. It really is a place where you can switch off and unwind.
I will definitely be returning. It’s worth every penny and well worth a visit. Just be warned you may well become addicted, because it’s a truly exceptional place.
Not accommodation for families at all.
Left waiting over 2 hours for bed guards and intitlslt no bed for child was given. Had to wait for milk to be delivered warmed for a bottle over an hour with a crying baby. Staff cannot communicate and look at you like a piece of rubbish. A couple checking out before me were asked if they had a nice stay and to take care and enjoy the weekend. When I checked out straight after I was not given then same energy of response. I am of a different ethnicity so can’t help but wonder why I was not afforded the same customer service. Absolutely terrible stay for my cousins wedding and staff need real training on hospitality and the equality act!!
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble. The setting is beautiful.

Leaving
Visited the new spa today, it was amazing!! A gorgeous place, very relaxing and all staff were so lovely! Will definitely be back x
A lovely stay in a beautiful, private shepherd's hut. Such a good idea having huts away from the main hotel. Beautifully presented with everything you need for a few days and be away from the main hotel. We did the foodie weekend break, and had great value for money. 2 breakfasts, 3 course dinner, and afternoon tea plus a private hut & outdoor space!
We had expected a hot tub with bubbles however on reading back it does says outdoor soaking tub, it is a giant bath outside basically. Would have liked to be able to stand bottles in the fridge in the hut too, it just wasn't deep enough.
Towels & robes, toiletries, plates, prosecco glasses, toilet roll, tea/coffee/milk etc all provided so don't need to take any extras.
The food in Chaloner's was amazing for dinner. Great quality and service too. The staff we could not fault. A bit disappointed that a family with a small child came in and the man was wearing a hoodie, and ate from the bar menu in the restaurant that had a dress code though. We had rang ahead to check the dress code. It's smart casual, no shorts or ripped jeans for men.
Afternoon tea although said traditional on the menu there was a lot for added extra ingredients such as basil in cheesecake and apricots in sausage rolls. It was tasty and filling but we're glad we didn't pay £70 for the two of us as there was nothing on it that really stood out. Couldn't sit on the terrace for afternoon tea either as there was a wedding on and they had exclusive use, there's no other outside space.
Couldn't fault breakfast. Great continental selection and the kitchen can make any hot breakfast you'd like.
Overall I would definitely recommend the shepherds hut if you would like your own private space, silence around you and have the beauty of being able to go to the hotel for food & drinks when you like.
We stayed at the hotel as our daughter was getting married there. The whole day was excellent and every member of staff were polite, courteous and couldn’t do enough to help. Room was spotless and breakfast’s were very good

A perfect countryside retreat, incredible spa, great food, and total relaxation!
I had a wonderful overnight stay in one of the shepherd’s huts. It was exceptionally peaceful watching the local wildlife across the field a truly stunning setting.
The new spa is beautiful, and the spa garden is the ultimate spot to unwind. What made the experience even better was the team: the staff in the bar and grill were so lovely, and the staff throughout the spa were super attentive and friendly. Plus, the burgers in the grill were delicious!
A fantastic property overall. Would love to return!
From the moment we drove up the drive to the hall, we were in love with the place! The hotel is stunning.
Lots of parking, so that was a great start. Check in was smooth , welcoming and the reception staff could not do enough for us, including taking our luggage to our room.
They have a lift, which was a very nice surprise and most welcome.
We had booked a twin accessible room and we weren’t sure what to expect. The room was large, bright and very well appointed. Two comfortable chairs and a fabulous bathroom.
We settled in and went down to the lounge. The staff again were an absolute delight - especially the bar and restaurant staff, who really went out of their way to make our stay fabulous.
Food is amazing - from breakfast through to dinner, could not fault a thing.
Housekeeping were excellent- you pop down for breakfast, come back up and your room is done - they don’t hang about.
Special shout out to Adam (restaurant) and impossibly handsome Dan (on the bar) and Maureen (restaurant) as well as the lovely lady looking after the guests in the lounge and taking our drinks and menu orders - they are a credit to the hotel.
