Lovely hotel
Pros:

Lovely hotel, very festive when we stayed in December. Hotel and room spotlessly clean. Breakfast delicious with a good range of hot and cold options. We had a courtyard view room which was great. Pool was closed when we visited.

Horrible
Pros:

[I booked and reviewed this hotel on booking.com, but the owners’ appalling response to my review has inspired me to share it here as well.]

My 75-year-old mother and I showed up with our luggage and were struggling with it up the 6-8 steps into the lobby. Not a single person from the hotel attempted to help us with our luggage (this exact situation occurred when we were leaving — the employee who checked me out literally watched as my mother struggled down the steps with her suitcase to get to the front door). ** bizarrely, the hotel owner, who I know was not present because he is a man and only female employees were there at the time, wrote: “Reading your review makes me understand that you did not even bother helping your mum with her luggage either. Reception staff were welcoming other clients when you arrived.” Both of these statements are patently false. I was in fact helping my mom with her luggage as well as struggling with my own, and no other clients were even in the lobby let alone checking in with reception staff. But thank you, Mr. Attard, for your personal attack.**

We arrived about 1 PM, but were told that there would be no early check-in, even if the room became ready earlier than 3:00pm, without paying a fee of €40. Fair enough. Having just come over on the ferry in hot weather, I asked if there was any water to drink; one front desk employee handed me a water bottle, but immediately another employee who was sitting down behind her said I needed to pay 1.40 euro for the water. I simply handed her the water back. I genuinely could not believe they did not provide water for guests even in the LOBBY. I asked if we could check our bags there and they said yes. After 3 PM when we did check in, they not only had not placed the bags in our room as a nice hotel would do, but when I went to retrieve the luggage, the staff simply opened the door and pointed to the bags — again, no offer to help us get the suitcases to the room — or even bring the bags to the door of the room that they were being stored in. The mattresses on the beds were very thin and flimsy; I’ve been to summer camps with better beds.

We did not eat any meals at the hotel restaurant at the hotel restaurant because we did not want to give them any more money, but I did order some water and a soda from the bar to take up to the pool and the bartender was very nice.

And yes, Mr. Attard, I did have a safe journey back home.😊

Excellent experience with great staff.
Pros:

Had a great time here. Would advise getting a sea view room with a balcony as the view is stunning. The staff here were wonderful and I have to mention Leno, Dishan,
Jakob and Tamara who couldn’t do enough for us and we were able to have a good laugh with them also. They were all polite and professional. The cleaners were also considerate and cleaned our room perfectly. The food was nice but not a lot of choice with the evening meals if you were half board. The hotel is quirky and could do with some updating but other than that we would definitely go back.

Lovely setting in characterful hotel for restful holiday
Pros:

We had a great holiday in St Patrick's, very pleasant and clean hotel with a lot of character. The room was large with a magnificent view of the bay from the small balcony. It was quiet even though being above the small prom with restaurants. The food , we were on half board, was very good , well cooked and varied, A nice feature was that tables were reserved right on front by sea for those on half board. The breakfast was fine with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. One small issue was the fruit juices ,a bit insipid.

Staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times.

There is a nice roof terrace with excellent views of area inland and over the bay.

We were there for 10 days and only used the excellent bus service once to visit Victoria , but because so hot decided to save the rest of Gozo for another time.

One strange thing is about the bread. It was said to be really good. However as at home something seems to have happened as it has a hard crust ,not crispy, and is cotton wool inside. Minor issue but all very odd.

Nevertheless an enjoyable holiday and thanks to staff for helping to make it so

Great few days at St Patrick's
Pros:

Welcome and check-in was great.
This was a last minute booking, which meant only valley view rooms were available. The room was functional, came with a basic lounge area and very, very clean. Aircon was great.

There was a reasonable choice at breakfast, ate and drank elsewhere for other meals.

Rooftop sunbathing area needs more umbrellas. It's fairly basic on the roof, but, fantastic views, with jacuzzi and plunge pool.

No real complaints, good value for money, great location without a beach.

Relaxing peaceful
Pros:

What a fantastic place to stay . Relaxing and very helpful friendly staff who could not do enough for us. The roof terrace with plunge pool and jacuzzi was perfect. Views over the bay are amazing and the bay so refreshing for swimming. Air con was amazing in the rooms. Decor in the rooms rustic but very comfortable bed. We will definitely be back

Beautiful views and a great hotel
Pros:

This hotel was fantastic after reading others reviews thought would give it a shot and boy it did not disappoint! The views out to sea were spectacular with gorgeous sunsets. We had the valley view and sitting watching out the back was just as entertaining! We were there during the festa and had great views of the fireworks and celebrations as well as going to watch the competitions on the water. The hotel is very clean and the air con when you walk in is very much needed in the heat. Great when you come back in from being out all day. The rooms had everything we could need, fridge, coffee making facilities and these were topped up for us each day. The cleaning staff do a fantastic job and if we needed anything we just asked and they were happy to help. The pool is a little small but if you time it right you can get it to yourself ! The manager said they were looking to do upgrades to the pool (if the hotel can hold the weight) and bathrooms in the future. The walls are very solid and the balcony doors were very sound proof from the outside goings on which was very helpful for getting some shut eye. The breakfast was a great selection of pastry’s, cereals, cooked breakfast and vegetarian option as well as juices/water/teas and coffee. You also get discount if eating in the restaurant. This is a great base to explore Xlendi and Gozo. The staff are very friendly there is also a place to keep your luggage on check out day. Would highly recommend this gem of a hotel

Ideal stay for a week in Xlendi
Pros:

We were very wary arriving due to previous negative reviews. If you take this place for what it is you won't have an issue. All staff were great, breakfast has plenty of choice, the location is great, additional discounts on food as your a guest was a nice bonus. We had a sea view room, if its available I would 100% recommend booking it. The pool is very very small however does the job as it was boiling last week. There are areas for improvement but it's a little gem, I wouldn't get too hung up on other reviews, we weren't in the room for longer than an hour during the day apart from sleeping of course, don't leave the air con on too high when going to sleep you will wake up freezing but its an absolute savior walking back up from the beach. Yes the lift is slow and can only hold 4 people at a push, but take the stairs if you can. Our room was cleaned every other day as sometimes we didn't need it done however when it was cleaned it was a basic clean, fine for us! It was a great addition to have beers in the fridge and the bed set up for our visit. The staff cannot do enough for you!

Wonderful Holiday
Pros:

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choices to cater to peoples needs. The hotel is in the perfect location right in the middle of the cove, and the staff are wonderful and always happy to help. We ate there some nights and the food was very nice and it was so relaxing. I was really happy with this choice of hotel and I would be happy to go there again. I just want to acknowledge ALL THE STAFF from reception, waiting staff, cleaners and anyone that I might have missed. Thank you all for making this such a memorable holiday for us and I/we hope to return here in the near future. Sandra & Sharon.

Beautiful views
Pros:

The hotel is located right by the sea with fantastic views, very picturesque. The food I had was incredible (had Thai fish curry, beef vindaloo and ribeye steak), lots of choice for dinner and breakfast. Staff were all very friendly. Only thing I would say is the rooms could do with some touch ups, just small things like re-painting and repairs. The lobby and communal areas were good though so just needs the same attention to the rooms. The rooftop was nice and peaceful and good for sunbathing. Overall we had a great experience.

Fur coat…
Pros:

Hopefully the location alone is not the reason this hotel appears to be resting on its laurels as it’s not without its competition.

Waiting staff were warm and friendly but the reception and management staff were just zero craic despite efforts to engage.

Our inside room was surprisingly big and airy but let down by the bathroom, shower cuts in getting stuck in drain which could have done with a plunger. Leakages around the sealant of the toilet left for a bit of a whiff.

Food was grand but they could go with adding the large cisk and Sauvignon Blanc which would have kept us from neighbouring hostelries. Oh and cook the bacon a bit more.

That said, I would recommend this hotel for its premier location, Xlendi Bay is just stunning and I would return for sure.

Great location / staff and views. A little tired in places but with great prospects if a little spent on maintenance.
Pros:

The hotel probably has the best location in Xlendi. We booked a Seaview, and I must say the view was fantastic and worth the money. The main staff (reception / waiting on staff and cleaners) were fantastic, friendly, and attentive. The rooms cleaned daily, and towels changed. No complaints on the breakfast, and I would recommend ordering the omelette as these are done on request and probably one of the nicest I've had (ham and cheese). The roof top terrace with plunge pool and jacuzzi was well received again with great views to the front over the bay and the back over the mountains.

Constructive criticism

The hotel is a little tired in areas and the rooms could do with a little TLC

1) Shower curtain was frayed and a little worse for ware. For the sake of €15 this could easily be resolved.

2) The grout around the bath was black with mould, and tile grout showed signs of mould. Not bad but 2hrs of decorating maintenance would have this resolved.

3) Towel / Paper bin in the male toilet in the reception / restaurant area was showing signs of rust again for a price of €20 this was again an easy fix. Also back of the door and architrave could do with a lick of paint, again maximum 2hrs a splash of paint and all sorted.

On the whole it was a great holiday, in a perfect location with fantastic sea views. Please note some room face inwards in to the atrium, not sure that would be my cup of tea. We stayed in room 203.

I hope the Manager takes the constructive criticism as it was meant and actually viewed all the rooms and bathrooms, as I don't think he does and spends more time at his desk or sitting outside drinking coffee with friends.

Definitely NOT value for Money
Pros:

The area is lovely for a quiet couple of days stay in summer. Eat, sleep, and swim all in the same place. If you want to go around the island, you will need a car.

As for the hotel it is good to lower, lower, LOWER your expectations.
If you need a place to stay it does the job. Other than that, expect nothing else.

The air conditioning is king, it can freeze you to death so if you suffer from the heats it is great. But you can regulate it and turn it off completely if you like. Not all hotels let you do that. They have free WIFI which is a good thing for travellers.

The beds are uncomfortable, I saw they mentioned orthopaedic mattresses in other posts, its not the case at all. Stained and thorn sheets, thorn curtains, room refrigerators that don't run, rust and dust in every corner, if you walk barefoot in the room you can feel the dust sticking to your feet, tiles that don't match, the place clearly needs renovation and a major one. Believe the pictures shown in other posts. The place is like that still today. And it doesn't matter what category of room you choose. It is the same throughout.

The lift says it can carry 475KG. Three people and it started bleeping for overweight. So we had to go up to our rooms in two's.

The breakfast food is stale and mediocre at best. Little to none options and some of the local waiting staff look like they jumped out of a comic book. On the other hand they had some foreigners working there that were much smarter looking and presentable. Just grab something to eat from next door.

The staff are nice, gentle and helpful. The management is polarising. They can be helpful at times and other times have a passive aggressive attitude. If your read the replies they provide to the customer reviews on this page you will know what I mean.

The place is expensive for what it is. It definitely is not a 4 star hotel. They charge for a 4 star hotel but as soon as you walk into the rooms you quickly realize you have been scammed. Go for the location, the free WIFI, and the aircon. Other than that look elsewhere.

We just hope the management takes these reviews constructively, acts on improving the place, and give their clients the quality they paid for rather than denying the truth and do nothing for the place. It is a pity the place has been left in these conditions. It could be truly a lovely place.

Pros:

Fantastic week long bed & breakfast stay as a couple in Gozo's Ideallic Xlendi Bay.
I would highly recommend this establishment for its' ease of service, excellent food and rustic charm.
A welcoming reception and friendly staff set the tone for what was a very relaxing stay.
Pleasant, clean, air conditioned and comfortable double bed stay. Cleaning staff were attentive and accommodating.
Attentive restaurant team dished a varied Mediterranean / Italian-esque menu. Very tasty and very reasonably priced.
The location was picturesque and great to quickly go for a dip.
A massive thank you to all the staff at St Patrick's for a warm, welcoming visit. Would defiantly stay again.

Great summer spot
Pros:

Had a lovely week's stay here at this hotel. From the getgo, staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was great. We booked the room with breakfast. The breakfast was a buffet and had a variety to choose from. The set menu in the evening was soo tasty and changes each day. It was a great atmosphere by the harbour each evening. Thanks to the staff for making it such a lovely holiday.

Pros:

After the noise and chaos of Sliema we fled to the peace of Gozo, and the beauty of the St Patrick's Hotel. The location is stunning and the hotel is beautiful in an old-fashioned way. We had a seaview balcony whic felt almost above the waves. The staff were very helpful and friendly, advising us on the Gozo Carnival, which was great fun, and also the local sights and restaurants.
