The location of this old hotel is in the center of Inverness facing the Castle.
We had a large bedroom with the nice view of the Castle.
Unfortunately the bathroom was ridiculously small and you could not store toiletries inside or hang towels.
Equally small elevator making it akward to transport luggage.
Average buffet breakfast.
Patronized by large groups.

Clean, wonderful view, tea and coffee, temperature, staff, pool and spa
Bed ordinary, no fridge, no safe, furniture tired, had to ask for bathrobes, soap good, no conditioner, iron not a steam type, tv in awkward position, shame bed not turned to face window.

The only thing I didn’t like that much was the mattress. Hard and not the most comfortable.
To start with the positives: The location and views are outstanding. However, those features do not make up for the negatives.
The bed pillows were brick hard and thin. As a result, I was in serious pain for much of the visit and I'm still dealing with neck and shoulder pain. I'd like to say our room was clean, but we returned from breakfast one morning to find the room had been serviced but a bright red earplug was put on the nightstand that was not one of ours! Obviously, it was left from a prior guest which means our room was not adequately cleaned before our arrival.
The walls are thin as we woke up one morning to the sound of someone repeatedly sneezing in the next room.
When I booked, I had no idea the hotel caters to large tour groups. The entire lobby was filled with people when we came back from a long day and had to fight the crowd and all their luggage just to get to the elevator. On our last morning, the line for breakfast was ridiculous. Once we finally got into the breakfast room, the noise made it impossible to have a conversation and we barely ate anything because all the food stations were too crowded. The hotel has two dining rooms. So, they should have the tour groups in a separate room. The food selection is inadequate lacking fresh vegetables and other standard items.
This hotel is not a four star class hotel as it lacked the typical 4 star amenities including a room safe, a mini bar and toiletry items. The wifi seldom worked properly.
Some of the staff were good, but mostly I felt like we were interrupting them from their doing something more important. When we arrived, we could see three people were sitting in the office while only one desk staff person was trying to check in multiple people. I don't like seeing managers who aren't willing to pitch in when needed. Bad first impressions are hard to overcome.
Had a wonderful message with Ma at the spa she was very caring and listened to what I wanted. Had very good hands and worked all the knots out of my neck and back. Lovely spa
The location is excellent and they offered parking. Rooms were comfortable and the pool area is decent.
The food offer at the restaurant and the breakfast were quite underwhelming. The meal we had for dinner on the first night was really disappointing. I opted for the burger and it was so bad I actually couldn’t finish it. The menu said it was a smash burger, but that is not what was served. It was a very bog standard van style burger. I strongly suspect it came out of a bag and was deep fried (having put my years in working in hospitality, I’ve seen that trick before, especially toward the end of service). It was the night of the Scotland vs Morocco game so we got the vibe people were keen to finish their shift. We did make staff aware, and they were apologetic and offered a free round of drinks, which was appreciated, but unfortunately I was left a bit hungry that night.
In summation, the rooms are comfortable and decently appointed, but the amenities and food service aren’t quite up the standard that you would expect from somewhere that says it’s a 4-Star hotel.

Incredibly stylish hotel right next to River Ness The team is friendly and helpful, the rooms and hotel decor is gorgeous, and the restaurant and bar are top-notch. Free parking is a nice bonus.
