Just back from a 4 day city break. We booked this hotel as part of an easyJet package and we weren't disappointed.we had a triple room on 2nd floor at front of the hotel. Room was good size with bonus of fridge in room with complimentary bottles of water on arrival. Beds are very comfy and room was quiet due to the double glazing.good black out curtains.bathroom was clean and modern with walk in shower.only negative was the Aircon which would randomly become noisy.
No breakfast included so can't comment here. Staff were welcoming and polite. We arrived 45 mins before checkin but they were able to get us access to our room 30.mins early.
There's a few reviews mentioning a bad smell, but it was only I put bathroom we noticed a lingering eggy smell but this wasn't in anyway bad enough to be any sort of problem.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore Amsterdam. It's very good location for museums and theatres and the No 17 tram stop is just across the road for a 9 min ride into the centre.
Just be aware the stairs can be challenging in the hotel if you have mobility issues as they are steep.
Stayed on 2nd of Feb for 3 nights. Clean and lovely hotel just what we needed for a city break in Amsterdam. Surprised us with bday chocolates, card and petals I sorted in advance. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. We used the tram to get to the central but was also within walking distance. Would stay again! Thank you for a lovely stay.
Very nice hotel, and very nice people on reception. I will stay here again iA
Great location and easy walking (less then half mile) distance to the canals. Moderate walking distance (1.5 miles approximately) from the Amsterdam Centraal Train station. Easy walking distance to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and several other museums. Friendly staff and clean rooms.
Second visit to this hotel, great location, front desk helpful, breakie wasnt worth it, but everyone's different.
2 weeks prior we did receive a whatsapp message to clarify our stay and make a payment with the message showing correct dates but check in times where wrong, we contacted the hotel via booking.com to double check and they replied super fast and said it was scam, and not to click on any links or any messages sent through WhatsApp. Overall would 100% stay again.
We quickly learned that "you get what you pay for" at this hotel. My partner was subjected to a verbal assault by the kitchen staff for trying to use the coffee machine at noon (not realizing breakfast ended at 11:30 AM). Despite her immediate apology and offer to pay for the drinks, the staff member screamed at her, calling her a "stupid f****** b****."
As international travelers, we did our best to remain non-combative, but this level of hostility is not okay in any setting, especially over a self-serve coffee machine. When we reported the incident, the front desk offered a verbal apology but no further recourse. If this is how they treat guests to their faces, I have serious concerns about their standards for food safety and hygiene behind closed doors. Avoid this place if you value basic respect.
We had a great stay at the hotel last year, so much so we booked again for this year. Unfortunately the whole experience was marred by the link provided by the hotel to confirm the booking. €850 was taken from my account before I realised what was happening. The hotel have said they will look into it but so far I’ve heard nothing. Writing to customer services at what I assume is their head office resulted in no reply at all.
Be careful not to follow the links provided. Mine came from ‘Huygens Place’ via WhatsApp.
And be warned no one will take responsibility or help.
The hotel is in a great location, near to shops, restaurants and attractions. We walked everywhere during our stay (approx 25 mins walk to the centre). We had a garden room, one of a small number of annex rooms outside of the main building. Situated at the rear of the building, so no road noise. Breakfast was good - a tasty selection including hot food, yoghurts with fresh fruits, croissants etc. The bedroom was comfortable but would benefit from a little more storage space. The shower was good - hot and powerful, although would be better with a larger shower screen to prevent wet floors. Decor was nice and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay, would recommend.
Wonderful experience, convenient location. I would stay there again, for sure. The staff is very friendly and helpful with everything from amenities to directions and restaurant suggestions. I chose the smaller room and it suited my needs perfectly. Very clean, modern bathroom, plenty of light from a large window looking out onto the street, comfortable bed, a mini fridge and safe in the room. I would have given 5 stars, but compared to larger luxury hotels it’s just different, more cozy, quirky, warm and friendly in a good way which is what I wanted. I did not opt for the breakfast so can’t comment but it looks good.
Very good budget friendly hotel that was welcoming, clean and close to a lot in the City Center. Actually, down the street from where Amazing Race had just shown on their season opening! The only con was that we didn’t realize the breakfast was $25 per person until we were checking out.
Staff was super helpful and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable.
Nice hotel, nice size room, clean too. Shower is a walk in shower and was designed awfully, the shower has a sloped ceiling almost and you can’t stand fully under the shower. The water splashes all into the rest of the bathroom and soaks the bath mat. Also, the smell of egg in the garden area, corridors and even our room was atrocious. The bed isn’t too comfy and you only get one pillow, I didn’t sleep well at all. Mirror space isn’t too good in the room.
Location is good, right by a shop and the tram stop into central Amsterdam.
For the price i probably wouldn’t stay again.
Considered good in Amsterdam. Same floor sometimes required to walk small-step stairs (difficult for some with heavy luggage!). Bathroom shower is easy to flood (wet) the bathroom.
We stayed in a standard double room. It was very small. There was not enough room to unpack and no dresser. The bathroom had a half wall in the shower so water would fill the bathroom floor. The bed and pillows were fairly comfortable. The AC was cold. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard every day. Very close to Voldel Park and the museum district.
Just a one night stay but everything was very nice
friendly staffs and good location
The staff were very nice and accommodating. We got early access to our room because it was ready early and the room was very clean. There were lots of late night dinner and breakfast options around.
I stayed here with my parents and husband. Rooms were comfortable, clean with all the necessary amenities. I was provided with extra blankets when I asked for them, although with a bit of reluctance. This was our first time visiting Netherlands, we met Toby at the reception and we couldn't have asked for a better person to have received us. For travelers coming from abroad, the warmth extended by the host makes a huge difference in shaping the perception of the country and elevates the entire experience. Toby was absolutely wonderful - greeted us with a smile each time, offered help and made us feel at home. 5 stars for Toby alone, we need more of you around the world!
There's tram right out side that takes you to all major attractions, plenty of food options and a super market nearby. Next to Vondel park, we consider ourselves lucky to have found this gem at a reasonable price.
From check in to check out my stay was phenomenal, the hotel is in very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Check In was a breeze and the gentleman who served was knowledgable and willing to share his wisdom of Amsterdam a shining example of customer service! Great coffee in a very comfortable room. Bathroom extremely clean and fully kitted out! Great touch.
If you’re looking for great parks, eateries stores and coffee shops in a very nice part of Amsterdam this is it! Be seeing you soon! Danny
Good location, friendly staff. But shockingly poor value for money. Cramped attic room, difficult staircases (no suitable for elderly or frail customers) within floor levels. Tiny lift. Narrow single bed (I misundersood the meaning of a 'Twin' bed, which is my mistake). And a dirty toilet with excrement on seat and outside of bowl. See photos. Decent breakfast. I pointed out (with photos) the condition of the bathroom, they apologised and promised to 'do something about it'. But I heard nothing else and at checkout it was not mentioned. I have no axe to grind, or hidden agenda. I only give honest reviews, good and bad. Maybe the small rooms and high prices are simply typical of Amsterdam. But it should be clean, and it wasn't.
