The Staff at the Ambassador is awesome! They are truly First Class. I was impressed with everyone working at Ambassador, especially Ms. Schereen. She provided outstanding recommendations and suggestions. Ms. Schereen was outstanding in assisting me get appropriate housing. The major downside was the facility itself, the rooms were well below the normal Hilton standards and was clearly an aging hotel which Hilton has recently purchased. Clearly no one should have place the first name in luxury hotels on this facility!
I have traveled to almost all of the major Hilton Hotels (as a Diamond member of the Hilton Honor Program), this is worse hotel with name Hilton on it.
We have returned to the Ambassador hotel after our stay in May 2026. We loved the hotel, staff and food at the "Favorite Son" restaurant attached to the hotel. Our room has a partial ocean view high above the crowds. We are walking to many local food locations and shopping experiences. It's our go to place to stay while in Honolulu.
Great stay, nice pool and good amenities in general. Thank you Rowena from housekeeping for keeping the room clean too.
Location
The hotel is located at a very convenient location close to the beginning (or end) of the Waikiki shopping street and within walking distance of the beach. The hotel is clean, the beds are very good, staff is very relaxed, the elevators fast (useful for a 30+ storey building in the morning), staff is friendly and breakfast was superb. You have an included 'a la carte', meaning you can choose either one big menu item or 2 smaller. But freshly made instead of a buffet where everything is already sitting there for an hour in the bowls. The Acai bowl and French toast were our favorites. You can also get as many fresh water bottles every day from the lobby. The bathroom is also very clean and has a great shower.
Pricing can change on booking.com. I made my booking 7 months before I went. Then one week before arrival I rechecked and could get a much better rate. So I cancelled my initial booking and rebooked again and saved $100 a day with that.
The Valet parking is - like everywhere in waikiki - rather expensive. You just have to calculate that $60 per day in. And because it is valet, you may need to wait a bit in the morning to get your car if there is a queue. Although the guys work as fast as they can and never had to wait really long.
The resort fee is also an Hawaiian invention that most hotels apply, we paid for but didn't really use. One included perk is free rental of some beach equipment (sun umbrella, body boards, beach chairs), but that place sits at the other end of Waikiki and closes at 5pm. Half of the stuff is in a poor state, and closing time is way too early if you spend a day at the beach the North end. So you pay a small penalty (probably part of their business case). Nevertheless, these were minor issues and I would book again for my next Waikiki visit.
Great location, close to everything. Easy to get around
My rooms air conditioning was not the best. And the water pressure to the shower was nonexistent. That was the only downfall
The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki has a great team. I was shopping around for different hotels that allow pets, and when I first called over the phone, their agent was very pleasant to talk to and gave me his undivided attention. While other hotels I had called, their agents were rude or impatient with me.
I even went ahead and applied to the Hilton Honors Aspire Credit Card prior to our hotel stay. We received automatic Diamond Status, which offers perks such as: a daily $18 food and beverage credit for myself + another $18 f&b credit for my spouse while staying at the hotel.
Especial mention to the front desk agents: Schereen and Annamaria. Such kind and genuine souls. Greeting us with a smile every time. Always so helpful. The director of rooms: Mr. Chun, very understanding. A big shutout to the house keeping team with their Aloha vibes, so grateful when we tip them. The valet parking team, working diligently to manage so many cars! The Yoga Instructor: Phoenix, great energy and amicable. And for the restaurant “Favorite Son” — Diana, always working super hard and taking care of guests, anticipating their needs and very respectful. ~Mahalo
P.S. The Pool DJ on Saturdays is pretty good!

Streets were quite noise at night and very early in the day.
We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is conveniently located, and the valet parking made everything so easy and hassle-free. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for our family. The staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming, especially **William**, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. His kindness and genuine aloha really stood out. We would definitely stay here again!
