The staff
Hotel is a little worn
We stayed here at the last minute to tour Boston University. What a beautiful place. Chris at reception was spectacular. SO welcoming and attentive! Will definitely return.
My medical appointment was colliding with a major blizzard and we needed to secure a hotel room. We called several hotels which are connected to third party reservations and we were not pleased at the service we were getting. We called Hotel Commonwealth and specifically asked for connection to front desk at the Hotel. We spoke with Calvin Lesser who was professional and courteous and secured us a hotel room. The room was perfect and we ordered room service which was also great. The location is ideal and everyone working there is friendly and helpful.
La chambre très très spacieuse, très propre, le frigo, le personnel très accueillant, peignoirs, le sèche cheveux de très bonne qualité
Un séjour très agréable

We stayed here to attend an event at BU. The location is perfect! If you use the T as we did from South Station the green line is right next door. Plenty of restaurants near by so no need to Uber. The staff is top notch and the most helpful Ive ever encountered. I had a problem with the internet and it was resolved by the front desk immediately. We used the breakfast in bed rate and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 breakfasts. The food was delicious and hot. The water station in the lobby is a nice touch. The morning coffee and tea bar was appreciated. The Kenmore King room was large enough and quiet for the city location. We would definitely return for another stay.
Amazing staff, everyone was very helpful and kind. We look forward to returning to your beautiful hotel. Special thanks to Frankie for giving us great recommendations and directions.
We visited Hotel Commonwealth in late February 2026. On the day we were leaving, a huge blizzard hit the area and caused us to be stranded for two extra days. The hospitality that the four of us received from the front desk, specifically from S, Nick and many housekeepers during our stay was top notch and we will definitely be returning on our next stay in Boston. It was also within walking distance of Fenway and the green line for easy transportation to other parts of the city.
The staff was amazing. And the location was perfect
The cost - room and parking. I know its Boston but so expensive.

Stayed at the Commonwealth years ago on business, so thought to book there again on a college tour. At check-in, a discrepancy emerged immediately between what had been represented on the phone transaction and what hotel policy actually was. I had legitimate reason to be upset with the misrepresentation and was winding up into a genuine lather at the desk when Jeffrey Ney found a way to defuse the situation and resolve it to my satisfaction almost instantly. We bore each other no ill will and in fact had occasion over the next 48 hours to repeatedly compare notes on the city, on BU and on the performances of U.S. Olympic Hockey. Mr. Ney is a naturally genial and competent manager and I commend Hotel Commonwealth on employing him as, in my experience, the face of the organization. Until next time.
The size of the room and the large renovated bathrooms. The concierge staff was very nice and helpful.
The heating/cooling system was noisy.
The bed was comfortable but not the best I have experienced in other hotels of the same quality.
Had a wonderful time.
S was the first person we encountered as we entered the hotel.
He greeted us with the biggest smile and was smiling everytime we saw him.
Boston was expecting a major blizzard and we had to cut our stay short. Both S and the manager Jeff were amazing and assisted us in changing a third party non refundable reservation. As result we were able to schedule another visit in a month rather than forfeiting our stay.
S also assisted us in making a new reservation for that night.
Upon check-in we were given a basket were we could pick a snack of our choice. We were also given two refillable water bottles.
The room was lovely and spacious.
Lots of restaurants within walking distance
Fenway Park and Newbury St were very close.
Both S and Jeff gave us outstanding restaurant suggestions. I highly recommend listening to their suggestions.
