Fantastic stay and dinner!
Pros:

My husband and I have stayed here many times. We have enjoyed both the modern suites and the provincial suites. We love the provincial. This Bastide lends itself to the provincial southern feel and the rooms are appointed as such.

Wonderful stay in Grasse!
Pros:

I had such a wonderful time with my husband here! The property is so beautiful. The room was very clean, cute, and peaceful. We had room service instead of going to the restaurant, and the meal was incredible. I highly recommend going to the breakfast buffet because that was amazing!

Very disappointing.
Pros:

What a huge disappointment, but then again perhaps we should have anticipated this given that they never replied to several emails we had sent a month before arrival. We had reserved a suite as on their website site it showed a beautiful contemporary one. Unfortunately ours was nothing like that at all. Ours was vintage Provencale style and with a very weird layout. The small bathroom was off the bedroom but the toilet and bidet were in another room accessed through a small closet-sized room that had the coffee machine, and off the living room. There was a balcony that had a small view of the valley, but almost all just roof tiles, plus the handle to open the door to it didn’t work properly. The lights in the living room flickered. One sink had a large crack in it. Another thing that I do not expect in a supposedly 5 star property is hangers that clip into the hooks. The WiFi was poor. The shower is small and the drain kept clogging plus it takes ages for hot water to come. The toilet seat was loose. They did however let us check in very early as the suite had not been occupied the night before. We stayed in another Relais & Chateaux property on this trip and it too had problems. In future we will avoid this chain.

Pros:

Greater variety (for English speaking channels) on TV, but everything else about the hotel by far out weighed such a miner irritation. The Staff are attentive and friendly, accommodation excellent, restaurant superb. We had a wonderful 4 days.

Tired, expensive, time for a renovation!
Pros:

We booked a suite for 3 nights(£400 per night) to include breakfast (£40)pp each day.
Room 11, tired, wicker balcony chairs falling apart. Cracked sink, cracked bathroom tiles,. Balcony overlooking large Air con unit. Breakfast sparse, cereals , fruits etc with pre cooked fried eggs. Reluctance to cook fresh fried eggs!! Dinner menu so limited.. set menu upwards 90 euros. one course from 3 set menus.. prices for each dish 45 - 55 euros! Dated food and poor quality. Head waiter extremely rude.. we don't drink, no alcohol free beers etc.. only given a mocktail.. prune juice with red fruit ..awful. Plastic flower display outside the breakfast room. Pool with broken sun umbrellas, tiles by pool chipped and dangerous. A terrible experience of Grasse and a Relais et Chateaux hotel....we expect much much better!! Needless to say the reception did not ask us if we had enjoyed our stay!

Shocking neglect at 5-star Relais & Châteaux: broken beds, taps, lights, ruined sleep. Police intimidation on checkout over bill
Pros:

Shocking Experience at a "5-Star" Hotel – Neglect, Intimidation, and Police Involvement

I stayed here with my family (including two small children) from August 16-20, 2025, in Suite 18, booked via Booking.com. As a Relais & Châteaux property, I expected luxury and impeccable service for the high prepaid price. Instead, it was a nightmare of neglect and coercion.

Upon arrival, the room was in disrepair: the extra bed for our child was broken (replaced after reporting), bathroom taps were clogged with limescale and sprayed water everywhere, several lights didn't work, curtains weren't hung properly, and a lamp was completely shattered (I hid it in a wardrobe for safety). We had awful sleep the first night but chalked it up to travel fatigue.

The second night was worse – we discovered the main bed frame was broken in the middle, causing it to shift and making sleep impossible. Photos from August 18 show the damage. This ruined two full nights of our stay.

Reported on August 18; a representative (for owners Monsieur and Madame Chibois) visited, promised escalation, and made partial fixes (new bed from another suite, removed lamp, fixed curtains), but taps stayed broken. No follow-up from owners despite promises.

On checkout (August 20), three police officers were waiting at reception. The representative accused us of causing all damage, claiming the room was "perfectly checked" – contradicted by our immediate reports. Police dismissed my offer to document the original issues and threatened detention unless we paid the restaurant bill (which we never intended to skip – stay was prepaid). With young kids present, this felt like pure intimidation and collusion. After paying under duress, my wife overheard the police and staff laughing about it.

Additionally, the representative threatened to blacklist me from the entire Relais & Châteaux network if I complained – an obvious scare tactic.

This isn't 5-star service; it's mismanagement and bullying. We left stressed and humiliated. Avoid this place – it's not worth the premium price or the risk. I've reported to Booking.com, Relais & Châteaux, and authorities.

Disappointing
Pros:

Lovely boutique hotel but this place is really a destination restaurant with a few rooms. Very peaceful, spacious rooms, nice pool and fine dining restaurant which was disappointing. I ordered the chicken with lentils and veg and was served a dry old piece of chicken breast, with a few lentils and tiny wee carrot and asparagus pieces. Not what you expect from a Relais Chateaux Hotel. The breakfast however, was wonderful out on the roof top terrace. This hotel is not really walkable into Grasse, unless you're into hiking; it is quite remote and in my opinion, not very good value for money. Below standard compared to other Relais Chateaux hotels we've stayed in.

Not worth the price. Food was ordinary.
Pros:

Too little personnel. Food was ordinary. Both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant priced much too high for what we got. We had an ant invasion on the breakfast table one of the days. Did not stimulate appetite. The rooms had not been renovated for a long time. If priced reasonably it would have been acceptable. The people that worked at the Bastide were all friendly.

Charming hotel near Grasse
Pros:

We went to the hotel with two couples for the truffle market, and stayed overnigjt with dinner in the evening. Food was excellent, but service maybe a bit clumsy. Rooms were nice, but they had some problems with the hot water in the morning.

Good but no service
Pros:

Very poor service at the restaurant
We had great food but the service was very poor. If it wasn’t for the waiter Maxim who knew how to establish contact and make a nice atmosphere then it would have been worse.
Specially some waiter disrespects the clients but doesn’t even have the slightest education to apologize

Pros:

Lovely hotel and its sourrounding grounds. However you need a car if you want to go to the restaurant/shop as hardly anything is within walking distance. Rooms in the main building were very nice and cosy. The prices in the hotel restaurant are a bit crazy - e.g. the cheapest starter (homemade cannelloni) with the price tag of EUR 65.

Pros:

This is a beautiful French country estate with fantastic views. This is not a business hotel.

The restaurant is excellent but opens late and is expensive . The food serves us gourmet quality.

The WiFi is ok but there is no English language tv,

There is no fitness center, but a beautiful pool and a hiking trail across the street .

The grounds are extraordinary and breakfast is available with breathtaking views.

Great for a romantic get away

Pros:

Gorgeous property with views into the hills and valleys. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well appointed. Comfortable bed and choice of pillows. We dined at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the impressive service. Breakfast buffet was also a treat. We would gladly stay here again; recommend without hesitation.
