The staff were very friendly but not efficient. We asked to have our room done abt 1 pm. Upon our 6 pm return it was not done. We asked to at least have more coffee & cream pods. After dinner at 8 pm we had to go to the desk and ask again. They gave them to us and we took them to our room. As for the room itself, it was nice but outside traffic noise was loud as was a local rooster who crowed abt 5 am.
We didn’t like needing to haul luggage up steps to get into the hotel nor did we like the slow single elevator but it was clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient and the staff is friendly. For this area, it is reasonably priced though be aware that they will add a resort fee even if you prepaid and will not use the small pool.
GREAT low key mom and pop hotel in Waikiki. The last family owned and operated hotel in Waikiki. Nice bar - Matt is a wonderful bartender with lots of knowledge of what to go and see and where to find things while on Oahu. Lincoln and the rest of the front office make you feel like family. Just a warm fun place to stay!!
clean room
Would come back again
Overall the stay was good. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms/hallways could definitely use some updating (chipped paint in a few spots etc). Easy walk to Ala Moana Mall and Beach. Very helpful that they stored my luggage on checkout day as I checked out at 11am but my flight wasn’t until 11pm.
The staff at Equus is top-notch! Lincoln, Radiant, Miss Renee, and Matt at the bar were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. Made for a nice vibe and felt very comfortable during the stay. The hotel was very convenient for all we did—walkable to the beach and dining options! Would stay here over any of the other busy hotels.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Equus, Waikīkī's last family-owned and operated boutique hotel. From the vintage decor to the amazing staff, the Equus was a great place to start our stay on Oahu. It's within walking distance of several restaurants, the beach and the marina. Things I loved: the staff, the decor, the location and the mattress. Especially the staff. They truly made us feel like ohana. Things I didn't love: the parking (very limited); the bathroom (very dark and no privacy, not even a ventilation fan); and no elevator from the parking to the lobby.
Limited parking space
Staff was great, room clean but very outdated, and the elevator does not extend to the street so have to carry bags upstairs.
Room not clean
Wet carpets beside the fridge.
They need to put all fees into room rates. Could have stayed at very nice place for similar price after all the extra fees.
I am going to try and get refund.
Good location for access to Convention Center. Comfortable room and small but friendly lounge.
My favorite par
Construction was going on and I hadn't been informed about it. They did move me far enough away to another floor. Front desk staff and Bar staff were nice. Cabana was nice for private time. Only stairs up from street but elevator worked fine from lobby level and up.
Nice hotel but housekeeping didn’t change our sheets?
The staff was great. The property was dated. It is an affordable hotel if the guest isn't picky. No amenities. No microwave, ice machine, or desk.
Great room and service! But parking situation was inconvenient because you needed to get a paid parking pass, but that didn’t guarantee a parking spot
It was a cute and fun hotel. We have nothing but nice things to say. It is locally owned, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. We arrived at 8:30am, and they moved things around to be able to get us into a room right away. When we checked out, they held our luggage for us until we were ready to go to the airport that night.
Helpful staff and comfortable environment!
