Excellent location and good breakfast but rather unsatisfying accomidation
Pros:

The location is superb! On tbe river Ness, just oppodite the castle. The building itself is rather beautiful Breakfast were decent.

Cons:

We've stayed for 3 days and our room has not been cleaned even once! They sayit's the hotel's policy to do room service once in 2 days. Well, I'm ok with that, but not a single cleaning for 3 days is a bit too much. The bathroom's facilities were quite old and rather unclean. The shower gel dispencer was broken and the hot water was extremelty, dangerously hot especially in the shower with no way of making it at least a little bit cooler.

Avoid if for food or drinks
Pros:

Great location. Rooms can be doing with a little upgrade. Ceiling and curtain poles covered in cobwebs and could have been polished better as could have written my name with the stour .

Booked myhotelbreak . Breakfast each morning and dinner 1st night .
1st night no dinner as chef didn't turn up . Few members of staff had few different stories on that 1 . Told we can have dinner on 2nd night then to be told we are the only 2 booked in . Gave us some crap menu saying the had an emergency chef in (just for us) don't think so . Be some petting out a microwave. Then guy says oh the chef had walked out and was trained by Gordon Ramsay 😂 aye ok

Breakfast was no better all shriveled up and cold and not much choice . Not even a hot cuppa to be had .

2nd time stayed here defo won't be a 3rd .

Dissapointing stay 😬

Ingen rengjøring på 3 netter
Pros:

Nice hotel but attention required to housekeeping
Pros:

Great location but busy. Old building but I like that, not to everyone’s taste. Was busy with lots of tourists.

Cons:

Being riverside it was quite noisy and the window wouldn’t close. Room hadn’t been cleaned, hoover was actually left outside our room all night, maybe I was meant to hoover 😀. Was very dusty and thick cobwebs on curtain rails. All of which I reported.

Disappointing
Pros:

The room was adequate, if expensive. Lovely river and castle view

Cons:

We travelled to Inverness by train, 6 hours, arriving at 17.00. Consequently, we booked a meal in Macnabs bistro at the hotel for 19.00. When we arrived we were told they were not serving meals that evening as they were catering for a coach tour party. The manager apologised, but did nothing to resolve the situation and gave us no advice on where else we might eat in Inverness. On a busy Saturday evening, we finally found a restaurant which was not fully booked.

Old style ambiente, worth a longer stay (with some restrictions).
Pros:

We spent one night only at the Columba and had to leave in the early morning. The house goes back to the great times of pricey tourism. Situated right opposite to the castle, across the river; great view, 200 steps to the Old Town. Large lounges. Little contact to the staff, only on arrival - easy as all Scottish people.

Cons:

The room was in general ok, a bit run down. The house front needs a renovation, our room partly too. Unfortunately it went to the backyard. Impossible to open the window completely. Nice old fashioned bar.

Péssimo
Pros:

Localização

Cons:

Pros:

Views from hotel lovely..

Cons:

Didn't find staff particularly pleasant. My room hadn't been cleaned. This was about 6 or 7 in the evening. Water was Luke warm. Rooms roasting hot. We were stifling. Out dated. No bin liners in bin. Dust all over. Towel rail loose

Dingy, tiny, dirty and not accessible.
Pros:

Quite literally the worst hotel I’ve ever booked. We requested a handicapped accessible room for my father who has limited mobility. They first assigned us to a room that was only accessible via a flight of stairs. I returned to the lobby to have the room reassigned. I was given a second room that was also at the top of a staircase. Finally, we were assigned a new room that could be accessed using my father’s scooter, but it required three sharp 90 degree turns to get to it which is very difficult in the narrow hallways with limited maneuverability. Additionally, the room was the smallest I’ve ever seen. It was dirty with threadbare carpeting, cheap furniture that was in bad shape and, once again, difficult to maneuver in my father’s chair. The bathroom had no outlet for styling devices, and the toilet would not flush.

That room was only available the first night, so we have to pack up and move to a second room for the next night. The room was accessible, in better overall condition, and slightly less crowded. We were satisfied with the change.

On the second morning, we were going to breakfast when we passed a single room being cleaned. It was the size of a walk-in closet, and the bed was stained and old looking.

From a customer service point of view, the women who worked during the day were helpful and did their best for us. However, the “night guy” was another story. First, he was not at the desk in the reception area. I had placed an order for food, and went downstairs to wait. I waited a long time - about 30 minutes - and he never once was attending the desk. I used the desk phone to dial 0 for the front desk and finally got him to the reception area. I let him know that my order was late and asked if he would stay there for a few minutes while I went upstairs to check my phone for the order. He grudgingly said he could wait there a “couple of minutes”. I ran upstairs, and when I came right back down, he was gone. He only came out about 5 minutes late to smoke his e-cigarette.

On the plus side, the building is beautiful and historic. It sits across the river from Inverness castle, so it’s a great location. Unfortunately, the hotel relies on that for business, but they fail to deliver on that potential

Okay but could be so much better
Pros:

Positives are the location which offers many restaurants , bars and shops. Lovely view of the castle when you come out the front of the hotel. Staff were friendly and polite. Room however for the cost of over £180 for a night were grubby. The walls were marked, the bed sheet had a few holes and were itchy and the view from the window offered a lovely picture of the bins and flats at the back of hotel. Bathroom door filthy and marked. Rooms could defo do with a thorough deep clean.

Small room, poor condition overall, photos on Booking.com did not match the room.
Pros:

The location is good for access to Inverness.
Very helpful and interested staff.

Cons:

I booked an executive room and was given a standard room. I requested the correct level of rooom immediately upon visiting the standard room and was told, sorry but all the executive rooms are fully booked. When I referenced the photos of the executive room I had booked on your website it was incomparble with what I was given.

The standard room was very disappointing overall: it was very small and compact. The shower room was in dismal condition with mould all around the window which had a full length blind to the floor and no mechanism with which to raise it - I believe this was to hide the mould and the fact the window had been painted shut and could not be opened. In the shower room, paint was peeling, the shower head was broken, along with chips, mildew and scratches particularly around and in the shower tray and waterproofing silicone.

My wife and I had to make do with this small, poorly ventilated and, to be straightforward, neglected room - there was even mildew on the upper window glass in the bedroom, formed from condensation over time. I am very unhapppy that my stay at the hotel was not as pleasant as I had anticipated when I booked this room on your website.

The photos on Booking.com are very deceptive to what the room actually looks like. As a note, this is the second hotel I have booked with Booking.com and the photos did not match the room at all. On a positive note, the staff were understanding and friendly.
