Sun Viking Lodge - Daytona Beach

My room had 2 windows that were covered in red material. One window had a fridge in front of it. Could not see out either. My room was next to the road. Very noisy. Cheap mattress and thin flat pillows. Outside pool was roped off. Inside pool had roof damage.

We arrived at our room around 6:00 pm. As soon as we opened the door, we noticed a strong, rather pungent, dog smell. We called reception and they said they had no more rooms available. I vomited twice because of the terrible smell. I sat on the balcony to breathe fresh air, and someone came to check the room. He said the dog smell was strong, so he'd move them to another room. The other room was okay. It also smelled like dogs, but not as strongly. Even the blankets had that smell, but definitely not as strong as the other room. In the morning, my husband said something had spilled on the bed because it was soaked. And we noticed water dripping from the ceiling. We spoke at reception and asked how it was possible to pay more than $600 for a room that wasn't fit to be inhabited. They told us to complain to Booking.com; there was nothing they could do! We simply left, but that hotel needs a lot of work, cleaning, and remodeling before it can receive guests. The price is definitely outrageous. I feel like I was robbed because of how expensive that hotel is and the poor condition it's in! I have a video of the water dripping from the ceiling onto the bed, but it won't let me upload it. It only accepts photos. We put a cooler down to keep the bed from getting any wetter. I hadn't written this before because I had surgery that week and I'm still in the recovery process.

Roof to the inside pool area all broken and missing panels. Phone in the room was unable to receive/dead. The inside room was old and outdated.

The person at reception wasn't very friendly.

The parking lot area could use a leaf blower ..alot of cig butts etc up by the curb by the rooms....no biggie but

The rooms right in the beginning by the office. For kids it’s not an ideal placement; but other than placement of the first few rooms amazing.!

Room not very clean. Look like cleaner didn't bother to strip bed down cause there was hair in the bed and on the towels in the bathroom. For the amount of money I paid I would have aleast expect it clean but it wasn't not worth it. Won't be going back again. You get what you pay for.

Upon arriving we were put in a two queen and one sofa bed room when we specifically booked a one bedroom (3 queen bed and separate bedroom for parents) room. The management said he didn't care what room we booked and that was all he had available (even though the parking lot was empty at 11:30 pm. He said they didn't even have one bedroom options even though that is an option to book on booking.com as well as their website and we paid more for the 3 queen bed option. We found a dirty sock and trash and crumbs inside the pull out sofa bed. The lock to the balcony door did not work and was told no one can get in the third floor anyway, even though it would be easy to crawl from one balcony to the next. The window screen was falling out and was banging on the glass all night, we had to shove a plastic spoon in there to shut it up. The amount of pet/human hair on the balcony was disgusting. It was literally in clumps that would fill a large cup. It looked like someone got a haircut outside. The maintenance crew started working at 8 am tearing up concrete outside the room and there was no mention of maintenance happening when booking the room. Also the indoor pool was closed for repairs and we were unable to use that as well. That was a huge factor on why we booked at this location since it was chilly this week. The shower knob did not work properly, Cold was hot and hot was cold. Hot was only luke warm. We have stayed at this location about 6 months ago and didnt find as many issues. When we went downstairs and asked front desk to move us or even to just fix the lock and clean out the couch we were told no. We did leave the hotel originally and intended to find another hotel but since it was already midnight no hotel would take new reservations for the night and we were forced to stay there. We fixed the door lock ourselves and cleaned the couch so we decided to stay the rest of the 3 nights to avoid the headache of a refund.
