We had the most amazing stay at Royal Azur Hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. From the moment we arrived, every single member of staff made us feel so welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, kind, and always smiling, which made our stay extra special.
We were also given an amazing room, which was a lovely surprise. The room was beautiful, spotless, and very comfortable. The pools were fantastic, always clean, with a great atmosphere, and perfect for relaxing.
A huge thank you to the Customer Relations Manager, who was absolutely amazing. As someone with coeliac disease, travelling can often be stressful, but she made sure I always had safe gluten-free options available throughout our stay. She went above and beyond to ensure I never felt left out.
A very special thank you to Aymen, who was one of the friendliest members of staff we met. Every day he greeted us with a smile, took the time to check how we were, and always made sure I had fresh gluten-free bread ready for me. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he genuinely cared about making sure I had a safe and enjoyable dining experience. On the first day he brought me a lot of gluten free foods - granola, cereal, biscuits, toast etc. I have never experienced something like this at a hotel before - usually I am quite stressed as I am celiac however he went above and beyond. He asked me what I wanted for lunch and dinner everyday and requested the chefs to prepare it for me. His excellent service really stood out and made such a positive difference to our holiday. The chefs prepared incredible gluten-free pizzas, pasta, and even cakes just for me, which I will genuinely never forget.
I’d also like to mention Anissa, our housekeeper, who was so lovely and friendly every day. She kept our room immaculate and even decorated it beautifully, which was such a thoughtful touch and always brought a smile to our faces.
The only thing is this hotel is more for relaxing rather than entertainment and animation at night however you can go to the neighbouring hotel - bel azur whenever you want to watch their evening entertainment.
Thank you to everyone at Royal Azur Hotel for making our holiday so memorable. The exceptional service, attention to detail, and genuine kindness from the staff made this one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to come back and would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation 🩷
J’ai tout aimé
Hotel was ok, but some things were not as expected, e.g. AC was not working (Only to 26 C - After telling the hotel they send technicians over about 4 or 5 times and they always said it should work tomorrow or simply left; another room wasn‘t possible), not really any help organizing a charging cable for my laptop (sent us to a store which sold us a broken one - we told the hotel who sent us to this store and they didn‘t care) among similar issues which is Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel with concierge Service. Also the cocktails were quite bad and the service personal ignored us for 2 straight weeks. It was also hard to organize pool or beach towels at most days because they run out of stock and we had to wait - some days 5-10 min; other days more than an hour. You were supposed to give them back when you leave and at the beach we got told to hand over our towel while we were enjoying the last sun of the day at 18:30.
We booked a bungalaw which by definition is on ground floor to be close to the beach and to have our own sun bed in front of the room. Also all pictures on the internet showed a room on ground level. When we arrived, we got a room in the 1st floor without direct access to the beach (had to go around the „bungalaw“) or sun beds. It only had a small balcony with old chairs and a table. We mentioned that directly to the hotel and tui, but neither of them cared and we only got told that all rooms on the ground floor are booked and we cannot change rooms.
Only highlight was the good service at the all in restaurant with buffet who had the best waiter. Walid Ben Abdallah was so fast and friendly!! Always enjoyed our breakfast and lunch with him and his exceptional service.
Also the pools and beach were nice. However, you don’t really get to relaxing vacation mode when so many things don‘t work and every little issue needs so much time to get fixed while in the end it never get fixed.
all staff were incredible and went beyond..namely Walid Ben. Bdallah, from main restaurant and Muhammad in reception...A credit to them both..
On arrival we were straight through check in..bell boys were good.
The rooms were clean and enough room..we had a pool view. The rooms were clean everyday and maids did amazing job.The restaurants was spacious and never had to wait to get a seat.food was ok.plenty of choice.no ice cream.
Pools were great ...if you tipped the pool guy you got same beds everyday. Pools were immaculate and plenty of sunbeds..it was so peaceful.
The entertainment was ok..but you could go next hotel were it was a bit lively we were told if you book up with tui you could use ...free ..
Check out was quick and easy....still use a/l till you leave however the courtesy room was actually the luggage room...no shower.no sink.no towels. No toilet. No power points.. no ventilation and this was 5 star hotel.we were given the key to the room which had other people's luggage and bags in...this should never happen..
Royal Azier hotel
The hotel is extremely clean. The pools are excellent and well-maintained the staff were excellent and friendly.
The room was clean and was looked after extremely well
But just to make you well aware this hotel was sold as a five star all inclusive via TUI this hotel is not all inclusive yes you get breakfast lunch and an evening meal and the food is certainly not other five star standard
There is no snack bars the drinks that are included are all local cheap spirit and you have to pay for branded spirits branded beer
If you’re down on the beach yes you can have food. That is a payable menu put it into perspective. Burger and chips is the equivalent to £12.
If you’re taking children, look at a different hotel no ice cream no snack bar food in the restaurant they’re trying to make five star badly. Food is probably three star plus in my opinion and only my opinion.
If you’re vegetarian, vegan gluten-free, you’re probably gonna have a problem in this hotel with the Food
The entertainment was like, which is fine that was described in the description
Summary this is not a five star hotel and it’s certainly not five star food
But generally, the stay was fine. We did eat out on a number of nights.
We didn’t use the cart as it was not air-conditioned and the temperature was 48° throughout the day, although this is not a hotel’s problem to be honest
It was an amazing stay at Royal Azur Hammamet. I truly appreciated the professionalism, kindness, and warm hospitality of the entire staff. Everyone was welcoming, always smiling, attentive, and dedicated to making our stay as comfortable as possible.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the reception team and to the entire restaurant staff for their excellent service.
A very special thank you to Mr. Walid ben Abdallah, one of the restaurant waiters. He was always smiling, attentive, and ready to help with genuine kindness and professionalism. His excellent service and positive attitude made every meal even more enjoyable. Thank you very much for your outstanding hospitality.
On behalf of the Fehri family, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the entire Royal Azur Hammamet team for making our holiday such a wonderful experience. We truly appreciated every moment and will be delighted to come back again. Thank you all!
We recently stayed in Royal Azur as a couple to celebrate our birthday.
Upon arrival the reception staff were extremely attentive ensuring our bags were kept safe whilst waiting for our room to be ready, we were able to use the amenities in the meantime.
Each day the room was kept clean to an exceptionally high standard and the maid even left us some gorgeous flower arrangements on our birthday,
The waiters in the restaurant were brilliant - nothing but attentive making sure our drinks were constantly topped up and ensuring we had all we need, we had Walid Ben Abdullah kindly look after us for breakfast & lunch and Ragheb each evening, both members of staff are fabulous - as I’m sure everyone else is too! Tips go a long way here in Tunisia however they are not compulsory, staff remain friendly and helpful regardless.
The 3 pools and surrounding areas with loungers were also kept clean to high standards, life guards constantly on duty ensuring that everybody was safe and going out of their way to help with the smaller things such as putting up the umbrellas and assist with finding free loungers when needed.
Evening entertainment was good, singers, synchronised swimmers and dancers, the sister hotel Bel Azur had a lot of children’s entertainment and held a good atmosphere when we visited to watch the World Cup final, we had access to the sister hotels bar/restaurant with our all inclusive package, I believe this was due to us using TUI.
As someone else has already written - we also did experience other guests making regards to this being “3 star at best” however we do disagree with this statement as our experience has been great start to finish, but each experience is subjective so don’t be put off by other reviews.
The only comment I could make which could cause issues is for those guests with allergies as a lot of the all inclusive buffet foods did not have labels and some labels were in the incorrect place - also note that the utensils were frequently mixed up eg: used on both seafood and chicken.
Also if you are interested in excursions it is best to use get your guide as we found the excursions were cheaper on there than what the hotel were providing. Bare in mind the location of the hotel is in a quieter area and a lot of excursions are a short taxi ride away to Yasmine area but the hotel can arrange a taxi if necessary.
All in all we had a fantastic stay and we will happily return in the future,
Thankyou again Royal Azur!
We have just stayed as a couple from Scotland for a week & had a fabulous time!
One thing that stood out to us before we even arrived is the kindness of the staff in this hotel. Before we arrived, we were offered a complimentary dinner in the Italian restaurant as part of our anniversary celebrations which was so kind & the meal was lovely! Staff were so attentive & nothing was too much for them, they were constantly refilling our drinks, checking in on us & just having overall friendly conversations about our stay. Tipping due to the cost of living and wage pay in Tunisia is appreciated but not compulsory to receive such a kind service. Shoutout to Zaineb who made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay!
Rooms were beautiful, upon arrival we got upgraded to a sea view room with our own patio area with private sun loungers as our smaller room was not ready which was lovely at no extra cost. Rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard, restaurant, bars and pool areas were also exceptionally clean along with the beach. It was also very easy to get a sunbed, it’s surprising to see other reviews disputing this there are plenty of sunbeds & lifeguards are keen to find you one if this isn’t the case. The only issue we had was our fridge didn’t work which during the heat was quite hard to keep water cool however staff are quick to fill up reusable bottles for us with ice which was amazing.
The food in the restaurant is good however when all inclusive it does get a bit repetitive. I think there are some afternoon snacks lacking for example toasties etc which you might find in other destinations as dinner & lunch can be the same dishes. Some of the dishes also are not very clear what they are so it might be hard for people with dietary requirements. We ended up eating out one night in Yasmine which is not far in a taxi and nice for a break from all inclusive foods. There are also small shops & restaurants just outside the hotel it’s very safe to walk around & everyone is very friendly. We also ate lunch at the beach grill which is an extra charge but is similar food to the buffet just on a menu. Before we came we also struggled to find any info on all inclusive drinks, there is plenty of drinks included such as teas/coffees & iced coffees, soft drinks, large 1L bottles of water, plenty of alcoholic drinks & a range of cocktails such as mojitos, daiquiris & margaritas. The drinks are also not watered down to the point that we had to ask for the drinks not to be strong every single time 🤣
There is lots to do around the hotel only a short journey away in taxis, we did jet skis, parasailing and attempted horse riding. The only thing to note from this is the horse riding along the beach looks very appealing on social media like TikTok however we paid 170TD each expecting horse riding on the beach at sunset and when we got there we were informed it was going to be in the mountains not the beach, there was no health and safety for example helmets we were just expected to jump on the horse and ride through the roads passing transport along the way so I ended up not taking part which was a waste of money. If you want to book something like this I would maybe go through get your guide instead of the hotel.
Overall we had a fantastic stay & would definitely return! We overheard a lot of other guests complaining over small things during our stay, with some saying this is more a 3 star than 5 star hotel. I think this is unfair as our stay was so relaxing and just what we needed. The kindness of the staff is really what made it for us and it’s a shame that this isn’t appreciated by other guests. It is true that in other holiday destinations that there are 5 star hotels which are outstanding but I think people need to keep in mind that a 5 star in Tunisia is very different from elsewhere however with that said does not mean this hotel does not deserve its 5 stars! Don’t let the bad reviews put you off.
Thank you for a lovely stay!
We recently stayed at the Royal Azure Thalasso in Hammamet. On arrival we received a warm welcome at reception, and our first impression of the hotel was very positive. The lobby and public areas are beautiful, clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, our stay quickly went downhill and, overall, we left feeling very disappointed.
On our first day, we discovered just before going to dinner that our room door would not lock (room 2429). We reported this to reception three separate times over the course of around two and a half hours. After our second visit, someone came to inspect the door but was clearly not a maintenance technician. We were repeatedly told it was perfectly safe to leave our room unlocked because there were CCTV cameras in the hallway. This was completely unacceptable. We insisted that either the lock be repaired immediately or that we be moved to another room. Eventually, around 30 minutes later, the door was repaired by resetting the lock so it would catch properly. By this point we had completely missed dinner service and had to leave the hotel to buy food elsewhere. Despite knowing exactly what had happened, the hotel made no effort to keep any food aside for us or offer any alternative.
The food throughout the week was another disappointment. While the salad bar looked colourful and plentiful, many of the salads were not labelled, and several contained seafood. For anyone with a seafood allergy, this could be a serious issue. The hot food was very repetitive, with much the same selection available day after day. Our best experience in the restaurant was with Walid Ben Abdallah, who was a wonderful host through our visit and took great care of us.
The pool areas are pleasant, but the service is stretched far too thin. There are three pools, but only one bartender at the upper pool bar and two waiters covering the entire pool complex. They worked incredibly hard, but because there simply weren't enough staff, it was often easier to fetch drinks yourself rather than wait for table service.
One of the attractions advertised is the saltwater pool, which is accessed through the spa for an additional €15. Unfortunately, it was out of service for two days during our stay. The beach itself is attractive, but the beach bar is not included in the all-inclusive package and costs extra. The beach slopes towards the sea, and there are a number of rocks in the water, so swimmers should take care. Access also involves several flights of stairs, although there is a lift for part of the journey. The infinity pool with views across the Med is only a partial view as there are several plants and trees masking the view, not a big deal but certainly not what is advertised.
Evening entertainment was almost non-existent. Most evenings guests simply sat around looking bored. We later learned that entertainment may be available at the neighbouring hotel, but this was never explained to us, so we didn't make use of it.
Our experience with requesting a late check-out was equally frustrating. We first asked on Wednesday and were told to come back the following day. On Thursday, depending on what time we asked, we were either told to return after 10am or to come back the next day. When we asked again on Friday morning, the receptionist spoke to us quite dismissively, explaining that because it was peak July there were no rooms available and there hadn't been all week. If that was always the case, it's difficult to understand why we were repeatedly told to keep coming back to ask. We were eventually allowed to check out at 1pm, but our transfer wasn't until 4pm, and we would happily have paid for a later check-out had it been available.
Outside the hotel there isn't a great deal within easy walking distance. During our stay the temperatures and humidity were extremely high, making it uncomfortable to venture far from the hotel in the evenings.
Overall, while the hotel is attractive and the staff we encountered generally worked hard, there were too many issues with organisation, communication and customer service for us to overlook. Sadly, this wasn't the relaxing all-inclusive holiday we had hoped for, and we wouldn't choose to stay here again.
Stanze grandi, belle piscine, struttura pulita e tranquilla, staff molto professionale e gentile
