Just a bit disappointed. Will not return.
Pros:

The look of it was appealing.

Cons:

I was immediately double charged. Over $1100 for 1 night stay. The pool was not clean. The hot tub was green. Nothing like the pictures. When exiting the elevator to go to our room immediately the smell of the smells of the halls were unpleasant. The carpets were in rough shape. After checking out till now 1 day shy of a 2 weeks after checking out I have not been refunded my double charge or my incidental hold. Messaged them and they said check your bank. The bank has nothing to do with it. As they did not put the hold on my money. The hotel did all no money back. Sad.

So quiet and clean! Felt like a retreat.
Pros:

Switched to this hotel for the last week of my Tucson vacation, looking for more quiet. Was very pleased with everything here: front desk staff, housekeeping (Norma, the supervisor), delicious breakfast (Laura really keeps things running smoothly) and all amenities. Nice to be near the Mall, but away from the highway.

I expected better
Cons:

The hotel is tried and a bit shabby. Considering the money, it was not worth it. I also heard a lot of noise through the walls (or ceiling) from a neighbouring room at 4am.

In a very bad part of town
Pros:

Not too much

Cons:

Pool was not heated as advertised. Spa water was oily and loaded with too much chlorine and spa wasn’t hot enough. Pancake machine is a joke.

Great overnight stay, convenient location near mall and many dining options
Pros:

Hotel was nicely decorated and they went the extra with nice architectural details like crown molding and pillars. Breakfast was very good with many hot foods including protein choices that many other breakfast buffets tend to exclude. Sausage gravy and biscuits was exceptional. Pool and hot tub working, clean, and well maintained. Rooms had everything you could ask for with comfortable bed and both soft and firm pillows.

Cons:

Bathroom was small and cramped but likely because the time hotel was built.

Frustrating and a bit disappointing.
Pros:

Clean. Good location

Cons:

Breakfast was under staffed, crowded, poorly arranged, most food good. New food brought in was cold. Not enough seating. Slow coffee dispenser with long lines.

Room coffee maker didn’t work. Was replaced second day but not given any more coffee. Was there 4 days.

2025 Year In Review
Pros:

My mom and I always love and enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express. We both have been IHG members since 2018 and I got to say that this hotel is by far our favorite place to stay at also known as our “to-go” place. The hotel is extremely amazing; the parking lot is great and is well-kept for guests that stay here frequently or long-term. The staff is extremely amazing; they are friendly, kind, patient, understanding, and they go above and beyond by making your stay a more enjoyable one. The staff really pays attention to your needs and always are willing to help anyway that they can. Xavier Macias (GM) has a GREAT team, and they are AMAZING! The best thing about this hotel is that if you like a room(s) that you have stayed in for a long time then you can always tell the front desk and they can “lock” it in right away on their system, i.e.: my mom and I we love to stay in Room 206, if 206 is unavailable then 208 is also a good one too. We always love the room since it is spacious, and we absolutely do feel that we are living in our house.

The LG Flat Screen TVs in the rooms are nice. I know that I have mentioned in some of my reviews and I am sure that guests have noticed too, the carpets in the hallways are getting old and they do need a refresh. My mom and I understand that this hotel is due for renovation next year. I would like to also point out once they do the renovations, I am not sure if the LG Flat-Screen TV’s will be there or if they are going to get new TVs for the guestrooms, a “suggestion” that I would like to point out is that I would like to see where guests can do the express check-out and also stream their phones onto the TV such as Chromecast. I have seen some Holiday Inn Express’s in the valley whereas guests can see their name on the TV, i.e.: “Welcome, Patrick thank you for being a Silver IHG reward member.” I am sure that this Holiday Inn Express in Tucson will do the same. We are looking forward to seeing the final touches.

The breakfast crew in the mornings work their butts off, and they too treat my mom and I like family. My mom and I would like to give a shout-out to Laura. She not only does an amazing job every day preparing breakfast and making the breakfast area look nice and clean, but my mom and I have seen her putting in the effort by making the breakfast area a spotless clean. She deserves a RAISE or a promotion to a Lead Breakfast Attendant.

In the past whenever my mom and I stayed here the housekeeping team is wonderful and they do take great pride in their work such as attention to detail. My mom and I would like to give a shout-out to Carolina (Lead Housekeeping Manager) and the wonderful, amazing Christina (Housekeeping Supervisor) for being such superstars. Christina is such an amazing, kind-hearted soul, and we do feel that she is a great asset to the team. We do hope that Christina stays there for a very long time; she is extraordinary and amazing to work with. Whenever my mom and I always go down to have breakfast, we always see Christina. She is VERY friendly, polite, always asks my mom and I how my appointments have been at the Cancer Center and that if we ever need anything that we can always let her know and that she is on it right away. She is very professional and very understanding. She takes great pride in her work, and her leadership is great! Thank you, Christina, for your service, kindness, and remarkable care.

Every time I do a review for this hotel on Medallia, I know one of the questions it says is “Cleanliness” I know that I always give them 5 stars, which is 10 stars, but this stay I do give them for cleanliness is 9.5 out of 10 stars. I’d like to point this out to a lot of travelers that stay at hotels just like my family and I am to please check the toilet. My mom was taking a shower as I was watching TV, if you look closely the first picture looks good, no problem but the second picture looks dirty as a matter of fact it is poop. My mom and I were so gross, in fact we did not dare to clean it up. We do understand that mistakes do happen, but the housekeepers should pay attention to detail every time they clean room(s) and public areas.

Friday night, I took pictures of the toilet, and I went down to show them to the front desk. I showed them to Daniel, and he was very apologetic. He went out of his way by going up to our room and by cleaning and disinfecting the toilet. As my mom and I were watching TV, I saw Daniel was done, I went into the bathroom, and it looked so much better. I have been in the hospitality industry for five years and I do pay attention to details as I am cleaning the lobby restrooms or cleaning the lobby at my current job. Thank you, Daniel, for your kindness, exceptional care, and for disinfecting the toilet! We really appreciate you!

Another staff member, my mom and I would like to give a special shout-out to Xavier Macias (GM). As we were getting on the road back to Mesa, I received a phone call from Xavier, my mom and I we were thinking that we had left something in the room and that we needed to go back but no he called to follow-up on this issue in regards to the front desk agent Daniel had told Xavier that the toilet was being dirty. He was very apologetic and understanding. He is going to work with the housekeeping manager Carolina that way this wouldn’t happen again. My mom and I enjoy getting to know Xavier, what we really love is that he went above and beyond to “comp” our next stay which is amazing! Xavier is the greatest manager my mom and I have ever seen. He takes amazing pride in his work and takes good care of his guests. My mom and I really hope, and we would love to see Xavier Macias getting manager of the year because he deserves it! He is amazing and good to work with. He has a lot of leadership skills and tremendous customer service. Xavier, On behalf of my mom and I would like to say thank you so much for taking the time out on your day off yesterday for you giving me a call to follow up on this issue on the dirty toilet. We really appreciate your professionalism!

In conclusion, my mom and I we can’t thank you guys enough for EVERYTHING you have done for us every time we stay here for my doctor’s appointments. We really are die-hard Holiday Inn Express fans, IHG members, and y’all have given us loyalty, and that means a lot! So glad and thankful that you guys are like family to us! We wanted to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you all a very blessed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We are so thankful for each and every one of you! We are so excited and looking forward to our next stay in 2026 and beyond. My mom and I will absolutely come back and stay here longer! We are blessed and thankful that we get to pick the best hotel whereas staff is phenomenal and exceptional extraordinary service! We will definitely recommend this hotel to all of our family and friends who are needing a place to stay for business or leisure. Thank you, Holiday Inn Express! We will see you guys in 2026.
