Had a very uncomfortable 9 night stay here
If I was on holiday I would have left after the first night but had to stay due to my partners work.
So this is a review from someone who had time to see the issues.
Firstly check in , the staff were nice and friendly so no issues there
The room: the room was cleaned as well as it could be, cleaners tried their best however the room was damp and had a permanent smell of damp clothing. The first few days we're a little humid and the high polished floor was covered in a thin film of damp making it slippery and dangerous.
Everything we owned felt damp to touch , when I got home everything hand to be washed as the smell of damp was unbearable. You never felt clean.
There was wall paper in the bathroom, which was peeling off never seen this before .
Next , the bed was lumpy and had a dip in the middle, worst there was no real bedding only thin sheets, which had seen better days.
Then there was a old blanket ( as it was January) this was scratchy and reminded me of the ones they used to have in the 1980s hospitals when I stayed as a kid or the blankets you put in a dog beds. Nothing was comfortable, and I've never stayed in even a cheap motel that don't have some bedding .
We ended up sleeping in jumpers just for some sort of warmth and comfort
I ended up going to Walmart and buying a blanket to stay warm and for some comfort overnight.
I dreaded going to bed simply as I knew how uncomfortable I would be, and was exhausted as we got very little sleep.
There was very little natural light and the room lighting was poor.
The shower ran hot and cold.
The pool was ok, nice area, but no pool towels, which is odd in Florida, and for a hotel which tries to mimic a resort.
The vending machine was always empty.
Breakfast was chaotic ! Poor quality coffee, juice was acidic and they had what I call the "no egg, egg"
It was just an awful experience as they had a large restaurant but crammed all the breakfast buffet into a tiny space. All the food was poor quality.
Restaurant/ bar. We did have a few nice items on the happy hour menu and most of the staff were good. We decided as a group to eat one night at the bar. The food wasn't great, lots of bland pasta and over cooked , cold chicken wings. The server had an attitude and got lots of the order incorrect.
They had the Aircon in the public areas which was freezing like it was July, but it was January, so that impacted the temperature and made it even more uncomfortable.
There was a lot of free good parking though, which was great .
We were at the back of the hotel next to the car park
The ground keeper staff decided to use the leaf blowers around 9am. So if you were sleeping in ..... You weren't !!! They blowed the leaves back and forth to each other , which just made noise !
I wouldn't stay here, it's not really a 3* hotel. On the surface and in the public areas it's ok , but the room was like a cheap motel.
There was a group of us who stated their rooms were as low quality.

⚠️Do not stay here!!⚠️
Good reviews online - yes, but read on please:
Had to stay in Miami last minute. Booked a room at 11 PM on Saturday (expedia) and made our way to the hotel.
Lobby area seems to have been recently renovated, looks clean and modern.
Once you check in , the room is a different story; outdated, corroded aluminum on the window frames , you know, like an old hotel - thats fine, we'll live.
Hair on the bathroom floor - Fine.. we will live
BED BUGS CRAWLING ON THE MATTRESS - NOPE! We were out five minutes after check in.
Told front desk about the issue and asked for a different room , which was not available .
I informed them I will not put my kids' health or mine at risk. And I will leave.
They told me a manager will contact me regarding a refund Monday morning.
Monday comes. No one calls. So I call Expedia and they call the hotel on my behalf.
Manager refused to refund us, and wanted to uphold hotel's cancelation policy (one night stay + tax) which is the full amount since we were only gonna stay one night and head out home in the morning..
I call the hotel myself and i am transferred to the Manager Gilbert , he said (with attitude) "we had the room checked and found no bed bugs like you said" so basically calling me a liar. I offered to send him the photos I took so he gave me his email address. I sent him the pictures.
He never replied....
Probably because he realized I was right.
Save yourself the trouble (and the infestation of your belongings) go somewhere else
(See photos of bed bug)
Also found a mysterious charge from them the following day of $45.63 ..
(there was a charge for the room rate by Expedia $179, and a $100 deposit charged by the hotel for incidentals which I was informed of by front desk at check-in)
Do not stay here. Plenty of other places in the area
Always Signature Perfect! I have been staying at this Hotel since 1987 when it was called the Don Shula Hotel. I was one of the Original Signature Members! The Athletic Facilities are amazing from hard to clay Tennis Courts, Indoor and out door Basket Ball Courts. Restaurants are Amazing and also Great Happy Hour Specials! Rooms always Clean and Comfortable! Exceptional Shops and other places to Eat in the area, plus a movie theater! Main Street is where it is at!! I will be back in a few Months!
Growing up in the area, i knew how old the hotel was, but it was clean, the parking was easy and near the room, linens and towels were good and the bathrooms were clean.
The outside sink was filthy but other than that, everything was good
Nice
Just okay
Staff was ok but room smells and was really dirty and run down nothing like the lobby area. It’s like you are staying at a different hotel in the rooms.
We stayed at Miami Lakes Hotel for one night while in town for a Miami Dolphins game, and it was an excellent choice. The hotel offered a convenient shuttle to Hard Rock Stadium — pick-up and drop-off were smooth, easy, and stress-free. This made getting to the game so much more enjoyable.
The room was clean and comfortable. Check-in was quick, and free parking was a bonus. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Overall, I’d highly recommend Miami Lakes Hotel if you’re heading to a Dolphins game or looking for a comfortable, hassle-free stay in Miami Lakes. The shuttle service really made the experience outstanding.
The staff was not very friendly nor welcoming. We went for the MNF game with the Jets and they had no idea about the shuttle or any information. When we told them what the shuttle people told us, they insisted we were wrong. We weren't. It would help if they had an English speaking person at the front desk along with the others.
I love to go there it is never a disappointment !
Great location, clean, friendly service.
Great
Like always this hotel never disappoints!!
I liked the area that the hotel was in. It's an older property so the flooring in the area outside the bathroom was a bit worn. The price was reasonable and I would choose this property again.
Excellent staff, very clean hotel overall
The hotel is beautiful. Sooooo many food options around. I even got a morning walk in around the property, the scenery is really nice. The hotel room is ok, very basic.
This is an older property, but it is clean and I didn't detect any unpleasant odors. Very convenient location for my business trip. My only complaints are:
1- Very weak water pressure in the shower. This was very annoying.
2- No waste basket in the bedroom, only the one in the bathroom.
3- Clean towels are placed almost on the floor. There is like a very low wooden platform under the sink, but it's so low that it's practically on the floor and you can't help to touch them with your feet while brushing your teeth or washing your face.
Was I walking distance to a good variety of restaurants.
