A wonderful jump off point to Aitutaki...
Pros:

We stayed at the Pacific Resort on Aitutaki in 2025 and needed to have a place to stay recently, while we waited to fly over again, so we thought the Pacific Resort Rarotonga! We are so glad we did. This resort is set up for many iterations of guests. We rented a 3 bedroom villa that worked perfectly for us and you could see how great it would be for families. The team, the cuisine and the accommodations were perfect for what we needed and we look forward to returning.

Cook Islands delight
Pros:

Fabulous hotel with a great location on Muri beach/lagoon. The garden room we stayed in was more than comfortable…..but what stands out is the staff (Triza and Elaine were so attentive and lovely) and the lunch/dinner menus. We tried most things on the menu - the Niçoise salad, sizzling fish, lamb rack, fish burger - all really delicious. Happy hour 2x a day was fun!
They have activities for both kids and adults most days.
Kayaks on the beach to use in the lagoon which was calm with crystal blue waters.
All in a lovely holiday, lovely island, and lovely people.

Family Fun at Pacific Resort
Pros:

Pacific Resort never fails to impress. Thanks, Tuaine for handling our reservation and keeping us so well informed. We had a beautiful 3-bedroom villa that accommodated our extended family and gave us ample room for relaxing in each other's company. All the staff from front desk to housekeeping were fantastic and never failed to give a friendly greeting. Highly recommend the restaurant and Sandal's bar happy hour!
Always a friendly vibe and we look forward to coming back to the lovely Muri area.

Home away from home
Pros:

My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Pacific Resort, all our expectations were completely exceeded. My favorite activity was the Ika Mata experience, and there is no place in the WORLD with the views and service quite like the Barefoot Bar. Best crumbed fish burger of all time. Mei Taki to all the staff who treat us like their family.

An amazing stay and definitely would Recommend
Pros:

If the truth be known this was not our first choice but due to our original hotel being cancelled we decided to to stay at the Pacific after a friend recommended…
We could not have been happier, the rooms are spacious clean and comfortable, the resort has so much to offer and the staff!! Wow what an amazing group of people, Zee on the front desk could not have been more helpful nothing was a problem he had so much knowledge about the Island and so many tips… We will definitely be back and will add a stay to Aitutaki next time. The grounds staff keep the grounds looking amazing and the housekeeping staff are awesome too.. This has been a fantastic 10 night stay which we cannot find fault in anything, Thank you all for making this an amazing holiday, hope to see you next year..

A great stay, right by the lagoon
Pros:

We had 5 nights in February 2026 at the Pacific Resort Rarotonga via a Luxury Escapes package (from Australia), which included a free bottle of wine in the room and 2x 2 course dinners for two people at the resort restaurant.
It rained for the first two days we were there, which made it all very miserable - both the resort and Muri Lagoon, but when the sun came out, the place sparkled.
Our room was large, well equipped (including a fridge, electric jug, flat screen TV, strong free wifi, ceiling fans and 2 effective air-conditioning units), very close to the lagoon, the Barefoot Bar and breakfast/restaurant. The back of our unti overlooked a small stream.
There were 2 happy hours for cheap cocktails and drinks (eg, NZ$12.50 for the daily cocktail); we always went to the 4:30pm one, announced by conch shell, come rain or shine!
There are free washing machines, beach towels, and water stations for filtered water - you fill up a large bottle from your room (very environmentally sensible).
The staff were uniformly happy and friendly.
The pretty pool was surprisingly small given the size of the resort, and I thought it might not be big enough (expecting everyone to put their towels out to secure a lounger early) but it was actually not that well frequented - I think everyone went to the lagoon. Each time we went to the pool, there was only about ½ a dozen people, top; plenty of loungers and umbrellas; a small padding pool for the kids.
We took our own snorkelling gear. When the sun came out, Muri Lagoon was beautiful. There wasn't much to see coral-wise in the area in front of the resort - a few scattered coral bommies and sea grass, but there was plenty of fishlife. It's quite shallow. We saw one turtle when using the resort's free kayaks. The sand is nice; there are loungers on the beach; the bar deck overlooks it.
The breakfast buffet was so-so. Not much in the way of hot food - frittata and baked beens/spaghetti (though you could order bacon & eggs, etc at a cost), but that probably saves on food waste and good for my non-existent portion control! There was plenty of fruit and cereal and toast and yoghurt.
The 2 dinners we had at the resort restaurant were brilliant.
On the first night, my wife had a lovely salt & pepper calamari for starters and I had a local dish, Ika Mata, which was insanely good. It's raw fish (whatever fish comes in fresh) "cooked" in lime or lemon juice like ceviche, but with the addition of coconut cream. I've had ceviche many times in The Bahamas and various Central and South American countries and even made it myself during COVID when we were craving travel, and I like it, but the addition of the coconut cream in the Polynesian Ika Mata softens the tartness of the citrus that the fish cooks in. For mains, we both had the NZ$55 New Zealand lamb rack, cooked rare, with mash and vegetables. It, too, was delicious.
On the second night, we shared an entree of sesame-encrusted tuna salad; my wife had the steak, rare, and I had a sizzling chef’s special fish of the day (parrot fish); and we shared a crème brûlée for dessert. All these dishes were great.
On other nights, we went to the local Muri Night Markets (see separate review) and the local Tapas bar (both about 5-10 minutes walk away).
There's a small supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk away, for snacks, mixers, beer and sprits. It has an outside ATM which seemed safe enough (I withdrew cash from there, as some of the market stalls and the Tapas Bar are cash only).
This was a great break (made better by the Luxury Escapes additions, especially the meals, which were nearly NZ$400 all up). Muri Lagoon is gorgeous.
Well worth it!

Best message! Wonderful hide away resort to escape busy!
Pros:

We just arrived today and we’ve been blown away by how well we’ve been taken care of. It feels like our own personal hide away with the staff just here for us. Spa treatments have just moved to the property and it rates among the best massage I’ve ever had. There is nothing not to love about the resort, the staff, the facilities and the message & spa experience!

Enjoyable family stay with great location and food
Pros:

We are a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed for 12 nights with our two children aged 7 and 4.

We arrived from Sydney on the late evening flight, arriving in Rarotonga early the same morning. It was a very long and exhausting journey and not one we would choose again unless we could afford to add an extra night to the booking.

The Pacific were excellent in accommodating our early arrival. We arrived around 7am and were able to use the facilities until breakfast started at 730am. After breakfast we were completely exhausted and fell asleep by the pool. Staff kindly woke us and allowed us early access to our room, which we were extremely grateful for. An arrival and departure room would be a great addition.

Muri Lagoon is absolutely beautiful and the location of the resort is excellent. The staff throughout the property were lovely and welcoming. Our children loved the pool.

Breakfast was substantial for a continental offering and the hot food menu was very good. The restaurant overall was outstanding. Our children ordered the steak and chips most days, which came with a free dessert. We tried most menu options and every dish was cooked to perfection. Service was consistently great.

Our bed was very comfortable, the TVs in both rooms were updated, and the bathroom was modern and recently renovated. Staff at the front desk, restaurant and gardens were all excellent.

We would happily stay here again, however some constructive feedback regarding housekeeping. The cleaning standard did not meet our expectations for a 4.5 star property. Floors were not thoroughly swept or vacuumed and mopped, the shower needed a deeper clean around the edges, mirrors were not wiped, toiletries were not replenished, and benches and the sink were often left unwiped.

Overall, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the stay and we would still recommend the resort, particularly for families, due to the location, friendly staff and excellent food.

Beautiful location. Beautiful staff.
Pros:

Stayed here for a 60th birthday in a king beachfront room. Room is very spacious. Bed is super comfy. Shower is amazing. The balcony had the most amazing view. The lagoon location is beautiful with crystal clear water and great swimming and snorkeling. The staff are super friendly. A shout out to Zee, Aunty Mona, Mary, Ellaine and the cleaning staff who did a wonderful job in the rooms.
The only suggestions I have for the resort are for umbrellas to be on the beach and for the barefoot bar to not have sold glass windows but instead to have louver windows to let the complete breeze come in as it is extremely hot in there

Great resort with fantastic snorkeling
Pros:

We arrived at 10 pm after a long flight, and the staff was so welcoming - and ready to get us checked in and to our rooms. We were thankful for this!

Our second floor room had a great view, and it was fairly easy to get down to the beach. We enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling right there!

The staff was great. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails while there. Massages at the sofa were great.

Paradise
Pros:

What an amazing place to stay. We were in one of the beach front rooms and specifically asked to be upstairs which they accommodated.
The rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained and the beds are super comfortable. With the doors closed they are completely quiet with no noise transfer from the other rooms.
The view from the balcony is stunning and they are pretty private from the neighbouring balconies.
The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. They really made our stay perfect. Tiree at guest services and Aunty at the restaurant breakfast were a highlight.
Location is directly onto the beach with the shallow lagoon right there. We snorkelled and saw turtles as well as hundreds of fish right there.
The canoes and paddle boards are free to use and plenty of them. Location is great with restaurants and bars all around. Charlie’s is and really nice walk down the beach, the sailing club and night market are right there.
