An amazing stay and definitely would Recommend
Pros:

If the truth be known this was not our first choice but due to our original hotel being cancelled we decided to to stay at the Pacific after a friend recommended…
We could not have been happier, the rooms are spacious clean and comfortable, the resort has so much to offer and the staff!! Wow what an amazing group of people, Zee on the front desk could not have been more helpful nothing was a problem he had so much knowledge about the Island and so many tips… We will definitely be back and will add a stay to Aitutaki next time. The grounds staff keep the grounds looking amazing and the housekeeping staff are awesome too.. This has been a fantastic 10 night stay which we cannot find fault in anything, Thank you all for making this an amazing holiday, hope to see you next year..

A great stay, right by the lagoon
Pros:

We had 5 nights in February 2026 at the Pacific Resort Rarotonga via a Luxury Escapes package (from Australia), which included a free bottle of wine in the room and 2x 2 course dinners for two people at the resort restaurant.
It rained for the first two days we were there, which made it all very miserable - both the resort and Muri Lagoon, but when the sun came out, the place sparkled.
Our room was large, well equipped (including a fridge, electric jug, flat screen TV, strong free wifi, ceiling fans and 2 effective air-conditioning units), very close to the lagoon, the Barefoot Bar and breakfast/restaurant. The back of our unti overlooked a small stream.
There were 2 happy hours for cheap cocktails and drinks (eg, NZ$12.50 for the daily cocktail); we always went to the 4:30pm one, announced by conch shell, come rain or shine!
There are free washing machines, beach towels, and water stations for filtered water - you fill up a large bottle from your room (very environmentally sensible).
The staff were uniformly happy and friendly.
The pretty pool was surprisingly small given the size of the resort, and I thought it might not be big enough (expecting everyone to put their towels out to secure a lounger early) but it was actually not that well frequented - I think everyone went to the lagoon. Each time we went to the pool, there was only about ½ a dozen people, top; plenty of loungers and umbrellas; a small padding pool for the kids.
We took our own snorkelling gear. When the sun came out, Muri Lagoon was beautiful. There wasn't much to see coral-wise in the area in front of the resort - a few scattered coral bommies and sea grass, but there was plenty of fishlife. It's quite shallow. We saw one turtle when using the resort's free kayaks. The sand is nice; there are loungers on the beach; the bar deck overlooks it.
The breakfast buffet was so-so. Not much in the way of hot food - frittata and baked beens/spaghetti (though you could order bacon & eggs, etc at a cost), but that probably saves on food waste and good for my non-existent portion control! There was plenty of fruit and cereal and toast and yoghurt.
The 2 dinners we had at the resort restaurant were brilliant.
On the first night, my wife had a lovely salt & pepper calamari for starters and I had a local dish, Ika Mata, which was insanely good. It's raw fish (whatever fish comes in fresh) "cooked" in lime or lemon juice like ceviche, but with the addition of coconut cream. I've had ceviche many times in The Bahamas and various Central and South American countries and even made it myself during COVID when we were craving travel, and I like it, but the addition of the coconut cream in the Polynesian Ika Mata softens the tartness of the citrus that the fish cooks in. For mains, we both had the NZ$55 New Zealand lamb rack, cooked rare, with mash and vegetables. It, too, was delicious.
On the second night, we shared an entree of sesame-encrusted tuna salad; my wife had the steak, rare, and I had a sizzling chef’s special fish of the day (parrot fish); and we shared a crème brûlée for dessert. All these dishes were great.
On other nights, we went to the local Muri Night Markets (see separate review) and the local Tapas bar (both about 5-10 minutes walk away).
There's a small supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk away, for snacks, mixers, beer and sprits. It has an outside ATM which seemed safe enough (I withdrew cash from there, as some of the market stalls and the Tapas Bar are cash only).
This was a great break (made better by the Luxury Escapes additions, especially the meals, which were nearly NZ$400 all up). Muri Lagoon is gorgeous.
Well worth it!

Best message! Wonderful hide away resort to escape busy!
Pros:

We just arrived today and we’ve been blown away by how well we’ve been taken care of. It feels like our own personal hide away with the staff just here for us. Spa treatments have just moved to the property and it rates among the best massage I’ve ever had. There is nothing not to love about the resort, the staff, the facilities and the message & spa experience!

Enjoyable family stay with great location and food
Pros:

We are a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed for 12 nights with our two children aged 7 and 4.

We arrived from Sydney on the late evening flight, arriving in Rarotonga early the same morning. It was a very long and exhausting journey and not one we would choose again unless we could afford to add an extra night to the booking.

The Pacific were excellent in accommodating our early arrival. We arrived around 7am and were able to use the facilities until breakfast started at 730am. After breakfast we were completely exhausted and fell asleep by the pool. Staff kindly woke us and allowed us early access to our room, which we were extremely grateful for. An arrival and departure room would be a great addition.

Muri Lagoon is absolutely beautiful and the location of the resort is excellent. The staff throughout the property were lovely and welcoming. Our children loved the pool.

Breakfast was substantial for a continental offering and the hot food menu was very good. The restaurant overall was outstanding. Our children ordered the steak and chips most days, which came with a free dessert. We tried most menu options and every dish was cooked to perfection. Service was consistently great.

Our bed was very comfortable, the TVs in both rooms were updated, and the bathroom was modern and recently renovated. Staff at the front desk, restaurant and gardens were all excellent.

We would happily stay here again, however some constructive feedback regarding housekeeping. The cleaning standard did not meet our expectations for a 4.5 star property. Floors were not thoroughly swept or vacuumed and mopped, the shower needed a deeper clean around the edges, mirrors were not wiped, toiletries were not replenished, and benches and the sink were often left unwiped.

Overall, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the stay and we would still recommend the resort, particularly for families, due to the location, friendly staff and excellent food.

Beautiful location. Beautiful staff.
Pros:

Stayed here for a 60th birthday in a king beachfront room. Room is very spacious. Bed is super comfy. Shower is amazing. The balcony had the most amazing view. The lagoon location is beautiful with crystal clear water and great swimming and snorkeling. The staff are super friendly. A shout out to Zee, Aunty Mona, Mary, Ellaine and the cleaning staff who did a wonderful job in the rooms.
The only suggestions I have for the resort are for umbrellas to be on the beach and for the barefoot bar to not have sold glass windows but instead to have louver windows to let the complete breeze come in as it is extremely hot in there

Great resort with fantastic snorkeling
Pros:

We arrived at 10 pm after a long flight, and the staff was so welcoming - and ready to get us checked in and to our rooms. We were thankful for this!

Our second floor room had a great view, and it was fairly easy to get down to the beach. We enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling right there!

The staff was great. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails while there. Massages at the sofa were great.

Paradise
Pros:

What an amazing place to stay. We were in one of the beach front rooms and specifically asked to be upstairs which they accommodated.
The rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained and the beds are super comfortable. With the doors closed they are completely quiet with no noise transfer from the other rooms.
The view from the balcony is stunning and they are pretty private from the neighbouring balconies.
The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. They really made our stay perfect. Tiree at guest services and Aunty at the restaurant breakfast were a highlight.
Location is directly onto the beach with the shallow lagoon right there. We snorkelled and saw turtles as well as hundreds of fish right there.
The canoes and paddle boards are free to use and plenty of them. Location is great with restaurants and bars all around. Charlie’s is and really nice walk down the beach, the sailing club and night market are right there.

Pacific Resort Stay Dec/Jan
Pros:

One of our most relaxing stays. Beachfront Suite was clean, well kept and located steps from the lagoon. Sandals restaurant was excellent for Dinner. Best restaurant on the island in my view. Food quality was great. Buffet breakfast small but sufficient. We had the option to order a cooked breakfast to go along with buffet breakfast which we also enjoyed. Hotel provided free of charge refillable filtered water stations, kayaks and guest laundry services which provided another great benefit. Special mention to Zee and Sisi for their excellent customer relations, you made us feel very welcome. We look forward to returning soon.

Great memories at the Pacific Resort Rarotonga
Pros:

Pacific Resort was absolutely awesome, the location was set by a truly wonderful lagoon. The staff are first class, warm and welcoming. The accomodation was spacious and well appointed. Rooms were serviced regularly by the Team. The restaurant served delicious and varied snacks and meals and the cocktails were different each day. Happy hour was split into 2 times so you wouldn't miss out. There is an Avis car rental situated at the resort so if you want to hire a motorcycle or car then that's an option for you.
Me and my family had a great time and would certainly visit again. Thanks for looking after us during our stay 🙂

Needs a management overhaul
Pros:

First, the good: our room was beachfront, beautiful view of the lagoon with a balcony. Bright and comfortable room. The location is probably the best on the island because the beach is nice, the view is pretty and there are many nearby restaurants. Staff was friendly.
Room for improvement: while the staff is friendly, there are so many things that could be done better. Not nearly enough loungers on the beach; they "bond out" the towels to you, so you get one daily beach towel. For the price, maybe they could trust people with towels? It gives the feel of a low-rate hotel that doesn't trust you. Similarly, though trivial, hangers in the wardrobe are the ones stuck to the plastic thing so you can't steal them. Again, really-- at a hotel they consider to be 4.5 stars? Bathroom towels are also meted out very stingily. Not consistent with a luxury hotel.
At the breakfast, do not try to order cappuccino-- they just don't bring it out. You can order it, but you can't get it.
Finally, after five days here and five days at the sister resort in Aitutaki, I requested a late checkout. I requested two extra hours. They could not grant it.
So, stay here for the view but don't expect the level of service that is ordinarily expected from a 4.5 star hotel.

Perfect place to relax and recharge
Pros:

We have stayed at Pacific Resort in Rarotonga many times, and thoroughly recommend them. Everything is of a very good standard, the grounds are very well maintained, the staff are amazing and friendly, and the location at Muri Beach is second to none. The restaurant/bar team are awesome and I'd have to say their steaks would be right up there with the best I've had, anywhere! Highly recommend Pacific Resort Rarotonga!

Relaxed, Authentic Luxury at Muri Beach
Pros:

Pacific Resort Rarotonga was beautiful and deeply relaxing, with unbeatable access to Muri Beach and the lagoon. The staff were exceptional, providing warm and attentive service throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the resort felt authentic rather than flashy, which we appreciated. The gardens were stunning, and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the kids’ club activities.

Idyllic location and relaxing vibe
Pros:

Idyllic location in the edge of the lagoon, with hardworking, pleasant staff. Excellent snorkeling and if lucky, you will see turtles. Buffet breakfast will be adequate for most palettes. It's a quiet resort so a good place to relax, away from the louder resorts elsewhere on the island. Handy small supermarket 200m away next to the sailing club.

Not 4.5 stars
Pros:

We stayed Dec 2025.

Note: We have stayed in some of the most beautiful resorts around the world, so our expectations at 4.5 stars was quite high.

Beautiful location, check in was good.

Rooms are at best average for the amount you pay (need a revamp) & staff are a bit hit n miss. The Filipino and Indonesian staff we met across the complex were wonderful. It’s very obvious that they love and appreciate their jobs more than others. There was one young pretty lady at reception that my daughter overheard talking rudely about us to another staff member😕 so sad.

The pool was a great (right next to our room but there are dangerous sharp tiles that need to be sorted in both pools .

The breakfast was very disappointing, but the staff were absolutely fabulous.

The beach/lagoon are gorgeous and the complimentary kayaks and snorkelling gear were an awesome addition. The island was cool too!

Housekeeping was shocking.. We had to ask for our bed linen to be changed (stayed 7 days), sand in beds, tiles in the room are very slippery, 1 small bar of soap for 7days, wet cloth in kitchen never replaced and had to ask for shampoo n conditioner twice during our stay. Towels were replaced daily but still looked stained/dirty. I know they’re trying to be green/eco conscious but theyre giving stingy vibes/not clean & green.

The roosters will do your head in- every single morn 4-5am without miss! And if your staying near the car park which we were, the cars, the noisy people and the neighbours can be heard at all hours. The walls are paper thin- we could hear all our neighbours conversations.
And lastly, the most concerning issue . My 2yr old found a voltaren tablet on the floor (previous guests) and put it in her mouth(thought it was a lolly). Lucky for us we noticed it quickly and threw it out.

We did have a good time but feel this resort does not meet the 4.5 star rating (based on other international hotels we have stayed at with similar ratings). Some of the staff needs tune up. It does however have huge potential to be fabulous.
