Very disappointing high tea at The College Hotel Amsterdam. For a five-star venue, the quality was surprisingly poor: basic sandwiches (quality level of a petrol station), heavy pastries that tasted defrosted, no fresh orange juice, and no choice of tea (Jasmin). Service was disorganized—the scones were forgotten, and even takeaway boxes were unavailable. We were 6 and paid 250 euros for a bad experience. Overall, it felt like a high-volume operation with little care for quality. Spend your money elsewhere.
Here it is February, 2026 and my husband and I still are wistful about our week at The College Hotel in October, 2025. After a very difficult flight over, we fell into our charming, wonderful room and slept for an uninterrupted 13 hours. (Good blackout curtains) My husband thought his iPhone was broken!! Tussled and tearing down the stairs, barely making breakfast, we were cared for and treated like family. Thus began the most enjoyable week of our lives. Wonderful location, charming hotel, wonderful staff. Thank you for our week in Amsterdam. We can't wait to return.
I was really impressed, with a very friendly check-in. The room was very nice, albeit slightly quirky with a couple of stairs to the bathroom which were a challenge during the night.
The bar area, was small and the Bowman, Elvis was great. Food choices were very limited, which, as I will go on was perhaps something avoided a much worse review.
The problem, was the service at breakfast. Appalling, is an understatement. Perhaps, the worst service I have ever been given. You’re shown to your table, the waiter runs off, and then you have to try and get someone’s attention. At the time, there was perhaps eight people for breakfast. Staff wise, counting the people that constantly walked backwards and forwards only focusing in front of them, perhaps 15 staff.
It took, about 20 minutes for someone to come and ask what food I wanted, and that food turned up perhaps another 20 minutes later. It was simply poached eggs on toast, with the eggs being nearly cold but the whites still runny! I was not the only person that suffered this unique service.
In summary, a great hotel if you just wanna sleep there.

Review: The College Hotel, Amsterdam
Our stay at The College Hotel was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The staff were incredibly polite, all fluent in English, and had a wonderful balance of professionalism and warmth—they never took themselves too seriously and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay.
The rooms were simply stunning. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathrooms were beautifully designed, adding a real touch of luxury to the experience. We also chose to include breakfast, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The food was truly 5-star quality, and we were allowed to order anything from the menu each morning—from a full English breakfast to yogurt bowls and continental options. Everything was delicious.
The location was perfect for our trip. We attended Metstrade at the RAI Exhibition Centre, and the hotel sat at an ideal midpoint between central Amsterdam and the exhibition venue—extremely convenient without compromising on atmosphere or charm.
Overall, the entire experience was amazing, and I would stay at The College Hotel again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.
Nothing!!!
Ontvangst was buitengewoon aardig
Ruimte was koud.
Hotelkamer had alleen diagrammen. Geen uitzicht
Very nice hotel, spotless. Bed is comfortable, room is huge and the bathroom too. Definitely “oversized” for Amsterdam!
Nothing, but would have been nice to have a Spa with sauna or hot tub
It is centrally located and very close to the museums and public transport.
De sfeer en de locatie.
Prachtig gebouw op een mooie plek.
Niets
Personeel was uitermate vriendelijk.
Eten was uitstekend .
