Clearly Student accomodation
Pros:

The property was hard to find, as it is tucked away on the off street of an offstreet. The rooms were very basic and it was obvious this used to be student accommodation, but has needed to diversify given the lack of overseas students due to lockdown. There was a strong pervasive smell of Asian style cuisine in the corridors, but the room did not have the smell. Rooms were very small with the double bed leaving little space on the side of the bed. TV only had free to air on Freeview. No way is this property anywhere near 4 star and there are no restaurants within easy walking distance. Will say however that front desk staff were very helpful and obliging.

Average accommodation
Pros:

Stayed for 2 nights recently. Basic serviced apartment that had everything we needed. Rooms were good size, and clean but a bit on the tired side. Reception staff friendly and helpful. The only slightly off putting sight was the number of security guards out the front on arrival while reassuring to know there was security it was also a little off putting. Met my needs for the price I paid but not sure I would stay here again.

Good location and price, but noisy.
Pros:

The staff are friendly. The apartment is conveniently located to Auckland Hospital and shops for obtaining food supplies. Rooms are comfortable as is the bed. However, as it overlooks other apartments with air conditioning equipment on the roof, the motorway and the windows are not double glazed, it is very noisy. I did not get a good night sleep, I would not recommend this apartment. I would not stay here again.

great
Pros:

We booked this hotel for a 3-night stay. the staff were helpful, the room was great for the price. A studio apartment with a sofa, full kitchen, and tea/coffee/toiletries all provided. Along with a washing machine and dryer. We were very happy, the only thing was that the wardrobe doors were hard to open. At $300 for 3 nights was great value and easy to get around. Thank you guys for a great stay.

Three nights
Pros:

Had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly please with this accommodation. Friendly staff, helpful staff, clean and very comfortable. You have to buy food as nothing supplied other than ta and coffee. Nevertheless, a great place to stop that’s reasonable.

Warm Friendly reception
Pros:

We had a lovely stay at the apartments for a couple of nights. The reception staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful which was a nice introduction to our NZ experience. The apartments are clean and tidy and have all you need without being spectacular. Location is very handy to University district and only about 10 to 15 min walk to Queen St.

Great room
Pros:

We stayed a night in the family deluxe room, great room, comfy beds, big kitchen and facilities.
Kevin accommodated us with every request which was much appreciated.
We could hear a shower running from another room so wasn’t very quite but all in all fine I’d be happy to stay again.

Clean and safe
Pros:

Weird setup getting into your room and then going downstairs to the living space and bedroom. Apartment was clean and tidy. Heater had a broken leg so couldn’t stand upright, and shower door was broken. Bed was good. Very hard to find on a map, and a nightmare to get Uber Eats delivered!

Good location on the edge of the CBD
Pros:

Tucked away down a lane this appt block / hotel is pretty basic but functional. We were only there for a couple of nights and it suited our needs , overall the place had a tired feel about it but for what we paid it was probably fair value.

Handy place to stay
Pros:

I spent 4 nights here then another night a week later. Clean and tidy Place to stay.
Friendly helpful staff, Yuyu and Kevin couldn’t do enough.
Handy to Auckland Hospital ( the reason I was in Auckland)
Walking distance to downtown.
The motel is a little bit hard to find at first being tucked behind uni lodge but that would be its only down fall.

Every dollar worth it
Pros:

I stayed twice in this hotel. First time just one night when I arrived in Auckland. Second time three nights when I flew off from Auckland.

First time, the room was a bit more modern. Second time, the room was really clean, but looked a bit older.

The guy from the reception, Kevin, is a really friendly guy. Wants to help you with everything.

I paid 225 dollar for 3 nights. I got a washing machine and dryer in the room, that's excellent. The room is clean and the bed is good. Also a rather good location.

Excellent stay - Definately worth a try
Pros:

I was quite careful with reviews before choosing where to stay but decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Stayed at this property for a week and I must say my stay was beyond expectation.
Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Room booked was a lot better than many places I stayed before. Nice and clean on high floor which has a great view of the city and ocean. My room has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking and even bonus with washing and dryer machine in the room.
All and all to be realistic and fair, with the price range I paid, it was a great and affordable place to stay. I highly recommend Crown apartments to other travellers.

PAST ITS USE BY DATE - AND OTHER CONCERNS
Pros:

Sadly - I wouldn’t recommend this place even those its centrally located near the university. It’s just too run down and you’ll end up frustrated with problems. The staff are personable but unmotivated and some budget limitations. There’s a noticeable lack of on-site mature supervision. Also some hygiene concerns and better places at similar price nearby. Things got progressively worse as my two week stay progressed e.g my room wasn’t properly cleaned every three days. Housekeeping staff work hard but need more training and insufficient maintenance.

There was no respect for privacy. I had several small items disappear which I know wasn’t the cleaners e.g internet code, cable TV instructions, toilet paper (my own supply)...

The kitchenette included only 1 fry pan that was so old the handle was loose and the bottom no longer flat so pretty much unable to fry eggs and the black surface stuck to whatever you cooked. Request for a replacement was refused even though I was staying two full weeks at around $120 a night. I went and got my own!
- AND that price means an unrenovated room.
In addition the stove top malfunctioned so technician visited twice and problem was a missing part. It was very dangerous as meant you couldn’t turn stove off although dial indicated it was and the heat ring faded. You had to use wall switch. It was eventually fixed but unacceptable in the first place.

The day curtain was torn in about a 20 cm L shape in a prominent place near sliding doors and despite mention, no attempt at repair was made so you constantly had to be careful going outside. The clothing dryer grill constantly falls off so you’re regularly staring at dirt inside the machine. Not a major but adds to unease. It could be fixed with duct tape but no one bothers. In kitchen a stick-on bench tile (ie for hot pots) hasn’t had its edges fully cleaned in a long time. Thick brownish food grime all around so unhygienic. It’s basic kitchenware is too simple for a serviced apartment. Only 1 pot, nothing like a sieve, salad bowl, tongs, grater etc.

There was an absence of necessary instructions like how to operate cable TV. After a week the cable stopped working and took three days to get fixed. Also the internet after the first week had a warning referring to no privacy.

Shame as the bones of this building are solid. The rooms are decently sized and the bed comfortable. There’s good use of light and a sizeable balcony. On 13th floor plenty of fresh air (even if a bit noisy) and cool in the hot weather. All the basic amenities are supplied (excluding smaller item eg kitchenware). Reception are friendly but too often on their mobile phones or out back and many calls for assistance were unanswered. Many excuses so soon didn’t sound authentic.I was advised a charge to print was a whopping $1 per page. They kindly didn’t charge me for this as I was working in with above problems. I got the feeling reception staff preferred to be left alone. They kindly helped me with my luggage and were enthusiastic w helping sort problems.

So so
Pros:

We paid $220 for the room and a carpark. I don’t think it was worth that price. The room was basic, but nice enough. It had kitchen facilities which we didn’t use but could be good for guests wanting to cook. The bed was large but had an uncomfortable join in the middle. The room was clean.

Staff were nice, however we weren’t aware the reception would be closed when we arrived. The parking was difficult to navigate however a staff member must’ve seen us on the cameras and came down to help.

All and all the hotel was nice, I just think it’s not worth $220.

Great value for money!
Pros:

Two bedroom apartment for a couple of nights away with a friend for a concert. Clean, tidy, secure and the most amazing value for money. Not as noisy as you’d expect for central Auckland but isn’t quiet. Only downfall was no aircon but balcony doors allowed for fresh breeze.

All you need
Pros:

Stayed here in transit basically. Had an overnight stay in Auckland after a long international flight.

Great apartment. Stayed in the studio and although everything in the one room still felt spacious. King size bed, couch and television and also full kitchenette missing only an oven but has stove top and microwave. Easy to cook in if needed however 5-10 minute stroll to many different cuisines.

Big bonus was washer and dryer. After 10 day trip and another 5 day trip tomorrow the opportunity to do all laundry was heaven! All worked well and had a full load washed, dried and folded within 2 hours.

4th time staying here and will continue to do so as is convenient and very well priced.

Have already booked future stays too.

Clean and surprisingly quiet for central city location!
Pros:

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which has spacious, clean and comfortable. I was impressed by how little noise I seemed to hear despite the central location. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking on the expensive side but I guess that's central Auckland for you. Otherwise would happily stay here again.
