Top tier service, room and views!

Loved our four-night stay for a long- awaited family celebration. It was our first time to visit the area, and Carlsbad is a lovely town, in addition to the Beach Terrace Inn! Room and bed were very comfortable plus the ocean view was wonderful. Staff was very accommodating, especially Andrea at the front desk. The continental breakfast was delicious and imaginative. We felt quite welcome and are already hoping to return.

Warm Welcome and Friendly Service
From the moment I checked in, Michelle made my stay memorable with her attentive and friendly service. She was always available to answer questions and make sure guests felt welcome.

Room Features and Amenities
I stayed in a horizon view room #42, which offered a corner pool and beach view and a full horizon (ocean) view atop the ocean front building directly in front of the street side building. The room came with cozy slippers and a pillow menu, allowing for a personalized sleep experience. The bathroom was large, featuring a separate toilet with a closing door for added privacy. While there was no microwave, the space included a sink, mini fridge, wine key, and glassware. I would have appreciated some kitchen towels, but overall, the amenities were extremely thoughtful. The in-room Illy coffee and quality condiments added a premium touch to the mornings.

Parking and Convenience
Each room has its own designated parking space, and I never had an issue finding one. During the low season, there was plenty of street parking available as well, which made coming and going easy.

Onsite Market and Supplies
The hotel's little market was handy for grabbing essentials like sunscreen, merchandise, soda, and water. Note that they don't sell alcohol, so plan accordingly if you’d like a drink in your room.

Beachfront Perks
The hotel’s proximity to the ocean is unbeatable—high tide comes right up to the property. Beach valet service is available; you can find him located on the beach (just outside the hotel beach exit) or you can text the number posted at the outdoor shower. Comfortable chairs and tilting umbrellas are set up on the sand, making it easy to relax. During my stay, I was lucky enough to see a shooting start and dolphins!

Pool and Fire Pit Experience
The pool was warm, although it can feel chilly if the wind picks up. There is no hot tub, but the fire pits are cozy with plenty of blankets provided. Keep in mind that both the pool and fire pits close early at 9 PM.

Dining and Local Attractions
The location is perfect for exploring the village on foot. Bluewater Grill serves fresh swordfish and is a must-try for seafood lovers. Fresco Cocina’s ribeye steak was the best I’ve ever had, and their Good Vibes cocktail is delicious. For beverages and snacks, Big Pig Liquor has a great selection of beer and wine, plus small Styrofoam coolers for the beach. The hotel market doesn’t have a big selection and no alcohol.

Additional Notes
· There is enough parking for 1 car per room. During the off season, there’s plenty of street parking if you don’t want the additional cost.
· The train runs a couple blocks away and can be loud at times, but I didn’t find it disruptive. I heard that there’s an inexpensive round-trip ride down the coast – will definitely check that out next time.
· I loved sleeping with the patio door open to hear the waves all night.
· You can walk to everything in the village—restaurants, shops, and the beach are all close by.

Summary
This beachfront hotel offers a relaxing and convenient stay, with excellent service, great amenities, and easy access to local attractions.

Everything was A+. The pillow menu was my daughter's personal favorite. We loved the free beach valet with boogie boards, chairs, towels, and an umbrella. Bring our pizza down to sit by the firepits was another highlight. We can't wait to come back!

As a mom of six and a business owner, "quiet" and "relaxing" are rarely words used to describe my daily life. My goal for this trip was simply to get away and find a moment of peace, but Beach Terrace far surpassed even my highest expectations.

From the moment I arrived, I felt the weight lift. My room was pristine and beautiful, featuring a direct view of the ocean that provided the exact mental reset I desperately needed.

What truly sets this hotel apart is how intuitively they anticipate their guests' needs. I had a "wow" moment while lying on the sand on my small towel; the beach valet attendant walked over with a large, plush beach blanket and said, "I thought you might be more comfortable lying on a blanket!" It’s that level of detail—thinking of the things I usually have to think of for everyone else—that made this stay so special. They really do think of everything here. I cannot recommend Beach Terrace enough for anyone needing to recharge. I give them ten out of five stars!

We had a wonderful time! Check in was so easy and we had such a warm, kind and friendly welcome. The room was spacious and clean. The location could not have been better! Right on the beach and close to many restaurants and shops. We will definitely be back!

100/10 - felt very boutique but also staff was available at any time, very accommodating and so eager to help. Rooms are large and comfortable, beautiful shower / bathroom. LOVED all the fire pits that were lit in the evening and quite literally having the ocean "sing" me to sleep in the evening!

Our suitcase was stolen from our room via beach access through sliding door in the middle of the night. It was our first time staying on the first level. Management didn't compensate us in any way. No cameras on beach side of hotel. We will not stay on first level ever again.

We loved the beach amenities and took advantage of the beach chairs, sand toys and boogie boards! The light breakfast was perfect and the kids loved the pool and fire pits, we will definitely stay again!

The Beach Terrace looked beautiful on-line, and it exceeded our expectations. It literally was right on the beach. Loved hearing and watching the waves. We were expecting this, but we were also pleasantly surprised at how easily walkable it was to get to the Village where we shopped and ate. The breakfast was a little too early for us, so we never experienced it. Our room was clean, very comfortable, modern and cozy at the same time. We truly enjoyed our stay here & would definitely stay here again.

Pics are uploaded. I mentioned the stains to the front desk. They told me kids stained it. Instead of offering to replace or clean them, i was told i could move into an upgraded room that was $$ more per night.

Amazing beach views, full length windows and balcony take full advantage of being right on the ocean. Staff and service are wonderful, very laid back and informal but service is quick, efficient and goes above and beyond (care package breakfast left outside my door when I had to leave at 4am for the airport!). Lovely place all round, wish I could have stayed longer!

I stayed in a room with a balcony directly on the beach. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent in-room coffee. Nice bathroom facilities. Everything was first class. Very close to the restaurants and shops of Carlsbad.

Super family friendly. The beach toys they provide and the hot water for sand rinse off make all the difference. Staff is friendly and they know the area. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is easy and convenient.

The Beach Terrace Inn is my favorite place to take my family -- or just myself on a writing retreat! The staff is super-kind, the view is unparalleled and the rooms are so beautiful.
