Wyndham Grand Algarve

Our suite was fabulous. Both the lounge and the bedroom had large patio doors with beautiful views of the garden. There were 2 bathrooms, which is unusual for a one bedroom suite. The sofa was comfy and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Sadly we were only there for one night. If we return to that area again, we would definitely stay there.

We had a really AMAZING! stay and just wanted to say how impressed I was with the team.
When I arrived, I’d actually made a bit of a mess of my own reservation, so it wasn’t the smoothest start — totally my fault! But Rita and Joao were brilliant. They were calm, friendly, and so helpful, and they completely took the stress out of the situation. Honestly couldn’t have handled it better.
The service stayed at that level the whole time. Everyone was welcoming and professional, and you can tell the hotel is really well run. A special thanks as well to Joana, the hotel manager.
We will definitely stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

All areas immaculate from rooms, corridors, pool, bar and restaurant. Very well trained staff offering excellent customer service. My second visit and looking forward to my third. Spa area is also very classy. Massages were so good we went twice. Gardens are manicured very well and gym is clean and has everything you need. Food cooked to perfection and waiting staff did everything with a smile.
Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Guys behind the bar very professional and friendly. One of the best hotels I've stayed and I've stayed at hundreds. Even the hotel drivers were brilliant.
Hotel is close to many bars & restaurants and Ubers arrive within minutes. The walk to the beach is about 20 minutes and very impressive with the bridge & salt marshes. Highly recommend this.

My Husband and I had a 3 night stay at this hotel in February as we have booked for 14 of us to come over the easter holidays and wanted to check it out beforehand.We usually stay at The Conrad but decided to try the Wyndham for a change and we were very pleased that we did.The hotel is lovely, rooms are huge ,housekeeping is great and the hotel is spotless.The breakfast is amazing, so much choice .The gym is great for a hotel gym, has everything you need.The staff were all really helpful ,we managed to get an early check in which was much appreciated .The hotel has a really lovely spacious feel to it .We ate in the XXL Olivier restaurant and the food was amazing.Looking forward to our family trip here at easter.

The rooms were lovely plenty of space with the facilities excellent and i couldn't fault the breakfast it had everything.

- The staff was super (child)friendly.
- Location of the hotel is top, you can walk to the beach, to nice restaurants, coffeeshops & the golf courses, mini golf and play earas for kids.
- appartement ground floor with garden was excellent!
- breakfast had plenty of choices
- the food was amazing!

I am sharing this as a warning because our experience in 12 hours was one of the worst I’ve had and in a 5 star hotel it was mind boggling.

We arrived to check in and we were left waiting for a long time. Ok this happens we survived. I then proceeded to be checked in and the lady took our passports and said the room wasn’t ready she’d messaged when she had it. Now firstly groups ahead of us had all been provided a welcome drink we didn’t but secondly we got no information from her about anything. So I asked - can you tell me where things are! So she said yes and started to when the bombshell was dropped the indoor pool was out of service and had been for nearly 1 week! My jaw dropped knowing this hotel only had a non heated out door pool this was crazy. I had a 2 year old who wanted to swim and we picked this hotel partly because it had an indoor pool knowing an outdoor one wouldn’t be useable. Again we are paying 5 star prices. I said to her why were we not told before we came and this is when my patience was lost. She said it was taken off yheir website I said but we booked nearly 6 months ago why wasn’t an email sent we would have cancelled. A side note in the rooms it still says on the directory the pool is available. Had I not pushed for information we’d have arrived down with zero clue it was closed.

So I asked to speak to the manager. And I will acknowledge she did everything she could to be nice to us offered a full refund, a voucher etc. so I said to my husband let’s try find somewhere to go during the day swimming and just stay. They also brought my daughter a birthday cake and balloons nice touch.

But then things get even worse. We go for food in the bar paying 100+ euros for one of the worst meals I’ve had in a while. Reheated frozen chips, cold sandwiches and a grey steak. And then a delay of 30 mins for every course where we had to ask what was wrong. And the kicker we were the only people in the whole restaurant.

Final straw came when we went to put my daughter to bed. The room temp in Feb was at 25 degrees with zero air. So I attempted to turn on the aircon! After several calls to the reception I had my second jaw drop moment - in a 5 star hotel you have useless air con whereby the heat was on and pumping into the room and the only way to attempt to cool a room was to turn it off and use a fan. Why because it’s all centrally managed!!! So I guess if your neighbours want it hotter than you or colder it’s whoever asks last! Crazy!

That was it nope nope and nope we are checking what we can get back money wise and we will be checking out and either flying home if they won’t refund or finding a new hotel if they will.

Mostly I write this as a big warning to other families do not stay here on the hope to swim or if you have young children who can’t sleep in boiling hot rooms. It’s not even close to worth it. Our family holiday ruined. I’ll acknowledge the staff are all very friendly and rooms nice but we paid for a nice room. Maybe if it was only the pool issue I’d be annoyed but not leave but to pay what we paid for this is not ok.
