One of the worst places we've been to for the last 20+years...please read!!!
Pros:

The hotel does not offer a 5 star accommodation for sure! I would give them 3 star for the rooms/amenities, 4 star for the food and 1 star for their service.
Please avoid this place if you want to really enjoy your vacation; otherwise you will constantly need to argue with their staff starting from the front desk at check-in even if it is 11.00 pm and you've spent 15 hours in the plane/car trying to reach this location. They did not care about the reservation we had and the type of room we were supposed to be accommodated in. It took me 2 hours to finally receive the keys from a tiny& narrow room that had nothing in common with the one we have booked before our travel. They took the keys from our rented car saying that they offered a vallet parking (for which you need to pay!) and they did park the car in a place, which was very hard to call a parking lot...and it turned out that someone hit our car and told the front desk staff but they did not inform us immediately. They waited for me to bring my credit card, charged it and then suddenly remembered to inform me about the accident, it took them nearly 48 hours :)))!
Extremely rude and unpolite people, very far from being professional or even reasonable in their statements or arguments. We felt like we've come back to socialist Yugoslavia - the system does not recognize people or customers, they simply do not care. Their only priority is to charge you credit card and forget about you immediately. And yes, they will be constantly lying whether because it is in their character or because they've been instructed to do so...:). We've never interacted with such fake people in any of the 30 countries we have visited for the last 20+ years.
There were bugs in the 2 rooms we lived in; their staff working at the spa center was very unprofessional as they could not even confirm the time for my appointment so I was supposed to wait 1.5 hours just because someone made a huge mistake in their reservation system. Well, I did not want to wait.
Since I do not wish to be offensive towards the country and its population I must admit that we had much better experience in the mountains of Slovenia when we finally left Portoroz and this awkward hotel. If you care about your time, money, vacation and nerves just avoid this dump.

Excellent stay - couldn’t ask for more!
Pros:

We absolutely loved our stay here! The hotel is clean and very well presented. It’s in a great location on the sea front close to the shops bars and restaurants on offer!
We had a family room which was plenty big enough for the 4 of us and had an additional toilet as well as very spacious bathroom with both a bath and a shower. The room also had a large balcony with table and chairs and a lounger. It was at the back of the hotel and the lack of view did not concern us as had no intention of sitting out there.
There was something for everyone at breakfast. Everything was fresh and continued to be replenished by friendly staff. Big shout out to the chef on egg / omelette duty. He was exceptionally friendly and polite. Even accommodating (with a smile) our children who requested fried eggs with no yolks! He ensured we had a great start to our day each time - even when the restaurant was busy and he had a long queue he wasn’t flustered and made an effort with each guest.
When booking the hotel we were confused by what seemed to have the same photos for a number of hotels - I’ll be honest this did worry me slightly! But once there it made sense - it’s a group of 5 hotels sharing facilities. We had access to them all through a series of corridors. The pools were huge with plenty of sun-beds - we never had an issue finding 4 in the sun despite not being there early.
My husband used the gym each day and rated it! I also joined in with the water aerobics class each afternoon.
We had access to loungers on the beach but didn’t get round to using them.
We will definitely be returning - one of our best holidays in Europe!!

Dishonest marketing practices
Pros:

This hotel was quite disappointing. We paid extra for a "Sea-side" room. After we checked in, I was surprised to go up to our room and notice that it was on the side of the hotel. When I stepped onto the balcony, the ocean made up about 5% of the view. When I went to the front desk and said that I expected a "sea-side" room to be a room facing the sea, I was told that to them, a "sea-side" room meant the room would be on the side of the hotel. I told them that I had paid extra for the room, and I had expected it to be facing the sea, or beside the sea, but again, I was told that to them, the room I paid for should be on the "side" of the hotel. It was a ridiculous conversation, and left me angry, as I had paid more for a sea-side room at an expensive hotel... Also, despite it being June 1, and hot and sunny outside, the hotel's outdoor pool was not open. And when we went to the beach, the hotel's lounge chairs were available, but its umbrellas were still in storage, and would not be brought out until June 16. Thus, everyone crammed the lounge chairs together in the limited amount of shade produced from a few trees. With tons of locals smoking on these lounge chairs, this was another unfortunate experience. The hotel's sauna facilities were closed for no apparenet reason. And its indoor pool, which it touts as being some sort of amazing geo-thermal hot spring pool, was simply a lukewarm indoor pool. Big deal, lol... All in all, I felt like the hotel was totally ripping me off... I would give it one star, if it wasn't for the fact that a few of its employees were quite kind. But otherwise, the owners of the hotel left me feeling quite cheated... I'll come back to the Piran area, but I'll never stay at this hotel again.

Great hotel for a relaxing break.
Pros:

We recently enjoyed a three-night stay in a superior room with a balcony and sea view, and it superb. The room was bright and airy, with a stunning view across the bay. It was May, and reasonably quiet early in the week so pleasantly quiet at night, ensuring restful nights sleep.

From check-in to departure, all the staff we spoke to were pleasant, knowledgeable, and eager to assist with any questions we had. There are spa facilities and pools available for guests but we did not use these on this occasion.

Breakfast was served in the Tree Top restaurant and was varied, there was so much choice, it was difficult to know what to choose.

We used the hotel car park but there is on-street parking available too.

Our stay was exceptional, enjoyed from beginning to end and we would highly recommend this hotel to others seeking a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It is an ideal hotel and location for a short break and we will be booking for May 2026, as soon as we arrive home.

Used to have amazing cakes but now...not good at all
Pros:

We come to conference here for years now- at least 15 years. Food was really amazing and cakes so delicious but now...they are not eatable anymore. Was so disappointed. Other food at dinner was good. Service also good. Better than last year.

Pros:

Hotel staff are very very friendly, polite and helpful. The room facing to the sea is also great. Big shower cubicle and separated toilet was great too. But we had one problem with the aircon. It was stuffy night and quite humid but no aircon was working after 8pm. The sea breeze was nice and cool so we were adviced to open the window. Please don’t get me wrong, the staff who spoke to us was very apologetic and politely explained the hotel policy the reason why the aircon was turned off at 8pm and it wasn’t his fault at all. Anyway, we opened the window then the little flies/mosquitoes were gathering on the ceiling. My husband had to use tissues to kill them all. That wasn’t present at all but otherwise I will rate 10/10. Like I mentioned the beginning, all staff were welcoming us and gave us superb service. I have to mention that the breakfast buffet was nice as there were plenty of choice and all waiters and cooks gave us a great service.
The location was perfect. Nice beach walk and easy access to Piran. If you want to visit Škocjan cave, it is easy drive. As we chose to visit Slovenia in off peak season, the beach side was very quiet but I am sure it will be lively and fun atmosphere in summer.
Although we had an aircon problem in the off peak season, we would love to come back and stay at Hotel Slovenia without a doubt.

Pros:

The hotel is situated on the strip, in the middle of the town. Perhaps somewhat soulless, buy kept spotless and impeccable. We only came here for dinner which was somewhat underwhelming, particularly the wine offerings which did not do justice what Slovenia has to offer.

I don't understand how this hotel can be rated five stars
Pros:

The photos speak for themselves. I work as a Housekeeping Manager in a five-star hotel, so I have a full understanding of what five stars should mean. The room was incredibly dirty, and when we were given another room, it was also in poor condition. I didn't have the energy to complain again, as I realized that all the rooms would likely be the same. When I first complained, the receptionist responded aggressively, questioning what I wanted, what my problem was, and who I was, so I didn’t manage to speak to any manager. I hope a mystery checker visits soon to see these issues. This hotel deserves at most a three-star rating. At breakfast, we wanted to have a waffle, but after seeing how they were being cooked, we quickly changed our minds
