Great hotel. The hotel is older but was clean and provided a safe and quiet environment to spend a weekend away at the beach. Staff was friendly and the pools were nice.
The ac in our room rattled and was very loud.
Clean beautiful location
Everything was perfect
Outside pool areas were great as well as indoor pool areas
Fresh donuts in the morning were delicious
Room we stayed in was tired and could be refreshed overall very good experience
Ocean view, indoor pool, hot tub, fresh made donuts in the morning.
Under age children in the hot tub. One lady read the sign, but didn't move her children out. She says they don't enforce it.
Perhaps, they could try the last hour is Adults only. And send someone down to enforce it.
I decided to surprise my boys to start their spring break off with a couple of days at the beach. I originally had booked a different hotel via Expedia but even though my payments was taken no reservation was made. So the day were were leaving I booked at Perry's Ocen Edge Resort. Daytona Beach is a crap shoot when it comes to hotels. Only a few name brand or chain hotels a a bunch of locally owned hotels and motels.
Anyways we arrived not fully sure what to expect, and immediately the staff made us feel right at home. Michelle greeted us and got us checked in quick. We had a 2 queen bed oceanfront room with a balcony and it was beautiful. The room was in great shape and had a small efficiency kitchenette. The room itself was a very good size and also had a small 4 top table as well. This hotel has 2 outdoor pools, and one indoor heated pool and one indoor hot tub. There are three buidling at Perry's and it also has three entrances/exits to the beach. Towels are provided at all the pools and and they had a very nice manicured grass lawn which i really liked. There were several grills that you could use and a great little tiki bar.
Now this hotel is aged, it has been in Daytona a longtime and has taken some hits, but don't let that dissuade you from staying there. It is charming with a fantastic location and stretch of beach. They have in house made doughnuts every morning for all guests and they were quite good! Also this hotel is on a quieter stretch of beach which is great for families or just not wanting to be a apart of the crazy near the boardwalk and pier.
My only complaint is that after checkout which is normally 11am, you cannot stay on the hotel property or use any of the pools or common areas. I have never in my life been to a beach resort or any resort for that matter that does not allow you to continue enjoying your time there after you have checked out of the room. If you check in at 4pm and check out the next day at 11am you do not even have 24 hours of privileges on the hotel property. I called and checked with 3 other Daytona hotels and they all said that after checkout you can stay and enjoy the amenities and all 3 offered to hold your luggage for you until you were ready to leave. So take this into account if you are wanting to spend an entire day at this hotel, they might ask you to leave.
So quick synopsis:
The Good:
- Fantastic Location
- 2 Outdoor Pools, 1 Indoor Heated Pool, 1 Indoor Hot Tub (towels provided)
- Updated rooms with incredible views and appointed nicely
- Free in house made doughnuts every morning
- Free Parking
- Several Grills available to use
- Incredible Staff (Michelle was great!)
- Quieter end of the Beach
The Not As Good:
- Cannot stay on property or use ameneies after checking out of your room
- Parking is pretty tight
If you are on the fence give them a shot. I would stay here again if you could use the amenities longer.
I wouldn’t stay anywhere but Perry’s people are nice especially Mary who goes out of here way to help me
Shower water was so hot it would scald your skin. Or to cold to get in. When we reported the issue to the staff onsite, we expected some sort of compensation. We didn't even get an apology. Paid $333 per night for 2 nights ($666), plus parking for a room with real bad water issue in the shower. You would think for a resort with that kind of price, they would appreciate the guest a bit more.. We were in the white caps room 10. We were a return guest and had stayed there before in the main building ~ that was great! But I am not sure we will come back after this one. We will see.
It’s too bad I had to write this review as my husband and no love Perry’s. We met there, had our wedding celebration there, and have so mag find memories at the tiki bar.
We recently stayed in a Cabin paying premium price for a stove that didn’t work, we had them check on it twice, and the didn’t replace it or accommodate us in anyway. The resort is dead, we could have been moved or had a new stove put in.
They never put my deposit back on my card, on my 3rd call about it I also saw another $200 charge. They claimed we smoked in the room as there were cigs in the trash. That’s silly. Throwing away cigarettes is the responsible thing to do for the resort. We also had a 7 month old baby, we wouldn’t smoke in 300 sqft enclosed space.
We have considered Perry’s a very special place. While we love Ernie and Greg, we will never stay there again. Many guests aren’t returning so expect fraudulent charges so they can make some revenue.
So now I have to dispute charges, send in proof I paid for my reservation when my deposit should have been refunded, this shouldn’t take a month of phone calls. It’s being seriously mismanaged. We won’t ever stay there again.
Perry's is a great little resort. It's one of the least expensive placed in the area. That does come at a cost though.
The resort is not polished and all fancy, but the pool area, breakfast area and rooms are very clean. The outside of the resort could use a little TLC to increase curb appeal, but I don't want the price the be jacked for superficial improvements.
The unlimited donuts are good, but they are all old fashion donuts with different frostings. There are no variations like cream filled or jelly filled donuts. The coffee is drinkable, but far from great.
We were there for 4 nights and would definitely return. We only used the indoor pool and hot tub which were great. The pool area at night is bright enough to be safe but also dark enough to be very relaxing.
We stayed in the south town which basically blocked all Verizon cell signal, but the WiFi was great. I had to enter the "password" every 24 hrs or so but always was able to connect to the internet and was able to use all my gadgets without an issue, including using the Roku we brought.
Perry’s is our favorite. Been going for over 50 years.
Everything was GREAT! Starting with front desk Michelle, Toni-Ann and Mary! We stayed in the center building where entire indoor pool is enclosed around the rooms. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The bathroom is small but very clean and very well stocked (you're not living in there).
We had kitchen and I called front desk asking how to operate the stove (little different). Mr. Reggie from maintenance came quickly and showed me how to operate the stove. He was very polite and professional.
The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Everyone was friendly (breakfast area, cleaners, etc.) The tiki hut on site was a plus as well and the server there was great as well. WIN-WIN!!
I could see a wedding or anniversary party held here. Lots of room to spread out and affordable. This will be our new vaca spot instead of SC!
