Our second stay, room a little tired. The breakfast is very good, staff helpful and friendly. We loved the adults only pool.
The only this that spoilt it was the penny pinching attitude to in-room drinks; charging €1 each for tea bags is beyond mean! We went out and bought our own.
This is an amazing family run hotel and quirky. The rooms are small, very dated in their design and dark but always perfectly clean. We would go back at the drop of a hat but see if we can get a modern room
This is not a 5* hotel, far from it.
I’m afraid it needs new management to review the hotel from staff to f&b to all the broken and untidy details.
Definitely a 1. I visited several of the Greek Islands and thought by choosing Emelisse as my final destination it would be peaceful and serene. Upon arrival we received the condensed version of a welcome because we arrived in the evening. When entering my room I was surprised to find my “sea side view” room selection was of a stone wall and a/c units. The connecting room to me which was also a “sea-side view” also had the stone wall but was facing the sea side. The staff member who manned the front during most of my stay commented that my rooms chairs were at the seas edge and that was my view. The next morning I enjoyed coffee at the edge to watch the sunrise over the sea. That evening the couple in the neighboring room seemed bitter I was there. The next morning my chairs had been moved. I thought it was housekeeping so I put them back. That evening the couple (more so the wife) was highly irritated. This went on for 3 days. They even told housekeeping not to move my chairs to the edge for the sea side view. I called the front desk and the same gentleman who showed me my view of the seaside with my chairs now claimed I was not allowed to put my chairs there. Both of our “sea side view” rooms opened to the stone wall but I was no longer allowed to sit by the seas side. I challenged him on the conflicting information and I received a phone call from another member of management demanding that I do not sit near the sea. Needless to say, I felt it was very rude, condescending and unprofessional that they catered to a bitter couple that did not want to share the view. From the way I was treated by management and the extremely rude couple, I would never return. The restaurant staff and the housekeeping staff was extremely pleasant. The management definitely gave beyond a poor experience that left a very sour taste of the resort and I will never return, and I will never speak well of the resort.
Beautiful property, but mattresses could use a refresh.
We had a wonderful time at the hotel. We just off a 10 day cruise and we needed a place to unwind and relax.
Great room and property, the food was excellent!
I highly recommend this hotel.
The property was amazing feels very private and integrated to nature.
A lovely week here at this great hotel.
Well kept and very nice rooms.
Bar/pool/restaurant/housekeeping staff all excellent and really helpful.
Reception staff were on the whole really friendly.
Eleanor on arrival was great and Denise really friendly and helpful. Reception guy who checked us out was miserable which was a shame.
I’d wholeheartedly recommend this place although the leaving was not pleasurable due to their unhelpfness and unwillingness to honour what had been promised us.
As we had not arrived until very late on the first day we were unable to have an evening meal that day which meant that having paid for half board we were effectively a meal short.
Denise had agreed that we could use our half board allowance for a lunch on the day we were departing (and made a point of telling us that when we had our last breakfast) but when we tried to do so were refused and they would not take my word for it which made me feel like I was trying to get away with something.
Such a shame to finish on a negative note when everything else had been fabulous.
Would definitely have been 5 review otherwise.
We came to Emelisse for a day pass, to check it out in the interest of booking it for our stay next year. We enquired over email exchange, and double checked over the phone in the morning to confirm that we were able to still come. However, on arrival the staff were nothing but rude. There were no signs or directions to get around the hotel, so had to be taken by a member of staff after getting lost who continued to speak rudely of us infront of our faces thinking that we couldn’t understand as he was speaking in Greek. When we arrived at reception, we were told off for arriving 12 minutes before we had agreed, and then staff decided that we were not allowed to use any facilities until 11:30 despite having verbally agreed we could that morning. The attitude towards us was nothing but rude and dismissive. Considering that they charge €95 per person for a day pass, and then speak to guests with such disgust was awful. They said that the facilities were closed, however we had passed them earlier and seen that everything was indeed open and busy. I wouldn’t reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit for a day, I’d hope they’d treat their guests better but I for one won’t be returning as a guest.
A really really good hotel with great facilities. The pools, the restaurant, the breakfasts, the nearby beaches, the quality of the beds, the helpful annd friendly staff, etc. all very very good and a great place to relax. The only downside is that it has some visitors with loud grating accents. And it could do with more sun-bed space by the pool, as often “full up” later in the day
Beautiful, modern, chic big rooms. With exceptionally comfy beds. Pool area and bar were great. Lots of sunbeds with plenty of shaded seating and umbrellas. Service for drinks and food was always friendly and prompt. Little walk down to rocky platform with ladders into the sea. Great for snoring
This is a fabulous hotel. Amazing views, swimming pools, staff and food. I visited for the first time last year with my two teenage daughters, we all loved it so much we went back this year with my husband and son. As there were five of us this time we took one of the two new villas introduced this year. The villa was stunning with magnificent views over the sea to Ithaca. The private pool was plenty big enough for three teenagers. One thing to note is that two of the bedrooms are in a separate building to the main building so if you have young kids that needs to be considered.
The staff at this hotel are all wonderful, they cannot do enough for you. Especially Catherine at breakfast every morning. One of our party has severe food allergies and they dealt with this very well. Even baking him his own cakes for the week! The food is excellent, Fiskardo is just a 10 minute walk down a rugged track or you can use the free shuttle bus and there are plenty of lovely eateries there as well.
This visit we went on the boat trip offered by the hotel on their boat. This was an excellent day out. We visited Ithaca and another small island, pulling into coves not accessible by road. Waters turquoise blue and crystal clear. Gave the kids a taste of island hopping in Greece and the Captain was great.
The main hotel pool is a really good size and there is another smaller adults only one. Swimming off the rocks is also great. Highly recommend.
A really beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, spotlessly clean, elegant furnishings and only a short walk from Fiscardo and beach. We especially enjoyed sitting by the pool on comfy sun beds (plenty for everyone) looking out across the pool and sea to the mountains in the distance. It was fun to jump off the rocks and snorkel with the fish in the crystal clear water. Would recommend a trip on the boat to hidden coves. Seeing the wild goats being fed by 3 members of the same local family is a treasured memory. This is a hotel where the staff take pride in what they are doing and they want to impress you. It’s a real gem.
Superb stop on Ionian side of Greece
Excellent walkable local beaches - par excellence
Hotel staff at your service . Highly recommend this superb 5 star hotel
Endless summer days amongst the olive trees, rosemary, lavender and pines with scented jasmine wafting through the air. The resort is like a little village and incredible views across to Ithaca. Ideal location in the resort try Room 301 with shared pool just fantastic too cool down!
Food great but could do with a few more choices and basic options.
Every member of staff was warm and friendly and the resort very clean and safe.
A short walk to the village or the free shuttle bus go to vasso’s and try the vasso salad! A 5 min walk to the beach - gets busy, pebbles so take a towel from reception and wear water shoes. There is a kiosk with snacks and drinks.
Amazing hotel with wonderful views! This hotel is one of the best we have stayed at and we are lucky enough to travel extensively. Family run, all staff are super nice and professional. Gorgeous large rooms, very stylish, very clean and air con works perfectly. The grounds are beautiful, the pools beyond gorgeous, the views outstanding. Food is delicious, breakfast is a treat (again with superb views) and dinner at Votsalo is very nice with great service. Regular and prompt shuttle to Fiskardo which is a very pretty seafront village with lots of wonderful restaurants - we often walked to Fiskardo (10 mins max via a rugged path) and took the shuttle back. Emblisi beach close by, few mins walk, is stunning with crystal clear water (though pebbly so you need beach shoes). We used the courtesy room to shower on our final day and it was super super clean. I would have no hesitation recommending this wonderful hotel and will absolutely return. Thank you to all staff at the Emelisse, we had an amazing holiday!
Just wow ! I can’t fault anything. We really enjoyed our stay. I’ve read some of the pretty rubbish reviews from some of the seemingly ‘entitled’ people who just like to be negative about something. I wonder if they got the wrong place?
This is a classy establishment that is run by a family for families. It is friendly and welcoming on all levels.
Staff-all seemed very happy and helpful and smiley.
Room- we had a room outside of reception and we had no issues with noise. It was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable . We slept well every night.
Food- choice at breakfast was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble . The food in the restaurant was also of very good quality ( and I am a fussy eater ).
The location was simply stunning and the pools were all lovely.
I had a massage in the spa and that was great too.
The walk down the ‘secret path’ is a bit of a challenge in flip flops or heels but only takes 10 minutes and then you are straight into Fiscardo. Failing that, cabs are always at hand and it’s like a 3 minute drive for 5 euros. Easy to get back as well even in height of season.
We hired a sailing boat for the day and loved it .
The local beach has crystal
clear water and it also has a bar that serves alcohol and food etc.
Wasps were not the problem
I thought they would be either !
This place will not disappoint anyone who isn’t looking for negatives.
Some seriously inaccurate reviews on this place . It really is a lovely hotel with great friendly staff . Nothing too much trouble . It is 10 minutes walk into the main town , however the path is rocky and steep, but you can walk down the road too. We didn’t due to the heat.
The shuttle bus is reliable and on time . Could operate a little more often during the day but taxis are quick and cost only 5 euros to the town.
Room was spotlessly clean and had a modern bed which was extremely comfortable . Good AC which is nice .We slept very well.
Food was good , with plenty of choice at breakfast . Dinner /lunch menu in the main was very good .
The location is stunning too!
Pool and relaxing area immaculate.
Location stunning
We would return
We would certainly return .
very subpar experience. this place very remote and you have to rely on their food. It was just horrible. no authentic Greek food as one would expect. Their Greek salad or Shrimp saganaki was so bad. the menu was packed with pasta and pizza. so crazy where am i? Italy? how can you screw up a Greek salad? the breakfast buffet was ok. The room was OK but TV wasnt working and they attempted twice to fix it. The pool is beautiful and great settings. lastly, extremely overpriced. My expectation was something like Hotel Splendido in Portofino but man, it was miles away from that. wouldnt go back or recommend it.
the property needs an upgrade for sure, inconvenient for families with children especially coming back in at night…the people and staff were wonderful!!!
