The location of the hotel is very good, right in Zamalek, with many cafés and restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the hotel is far from acceptable. When we tried to wipe the dining table before eating, the dirt was clearly visible, as if it hadn’t been cleaned for a very long time. This was very disappointing and unhygienic.
The staff were okay, but not particularly helpful or welcoming. The service was very poor and extremely slow. Breakfast itself was average, but there was not enough seating for all guests. On one occasion, we had to skip breakfast entirely because there was nowhere for us to sit. To make matters worse, when the staff cleaned the tables, they wiped the crumbs onto the floor, which was shocking.
The room was poorly equipped. There were not enough towels for four people, and there was no soap, no amenities, and not even toilet paper until we specifically asked for them.
Overall, the hotel feels more like a 2-star hotel at best, not matching what one would reasonably expect in terms of cleanliness, service, or comfort.
During my recent stay at your hotel, I experienced several significant issues that I feel compelled to bring to your attention. The main entrance was blocked by a café, making access to and from the hotel highly inconvenient. On multiple occasions, I had to ask the café patrons to allow me to pass, which was both uncomfortable and inappropriate for hotel guests.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the rooms was far below acceptable standards. The rooms were not only dirty but I also encountered cockroaches and signs of mice during my stay. These conditions are unacceptable and raise serious concerns regarding hygiene and guest safety.
Despite what is advertised, this hotel does not merit a four-star rating—in fact, based on my experience, even a one-star rating would be generous. I urge potential guests to reconsider before booking and hope that management addresses these concerns promptly to ensure a safer and cleaner environment for future visitors.
This hotel offers an amazing river view, rooms are clearly old and desperately need renovation. Breakfast was basic but not great and few options. View from the swimming pool on rooftop is amazing and the staff are so kind and attentive.
Didn’t accept the fact I am a newly married even with a proof of marriage
The hotel location was very good, central to many things and cafes right outside rhe door. Being in Zamalek made getting around Cairo easy. After that, the experience wasn't so great. The toilet backed up every day and we had to call the front desk to call the maintenance department. The response was one time in just 3 min another time it took three requests over 12 hours. The hotel was clean and the pool was a nice break from the heat but the front desk staff wasn't helpful when we needed it. This hotel seemed like a good deal bit in the end was more difficult than expected.
I highly recommend it, the staff were friendly, the food was delecious, and there was very lovely decorations, quotes from Um Kulthoom ' songs on the doors instead of numbers! I found that avery lovely idea!
............................
We loved staying at this hotel. In case you don't know, this used to be a house for a famous Egyptian singer (Om Kolthoom) from the 60s and got converted into a hotel. So, the whole hotel is themed around this singer (photos, decor, signage on doors, etc.). I loved that because I love this singer. It is in a great neighborhood (Zamalek), surrounded by embassies and luxurious old houses on the street behind. The location is also good because it is somewhat central and you can easily take a taxi/Uber to other locations in Cairo. The rooms and bathroom are spacious. The balcony is just beautiful with amazing views along the Nile river. The staff were very respectful and helpful. The breakfast had many varieties of food and service was excellent. On our last day, we needed to keep the room till 6 pm and they allowed us to do so (of course with an additional charge). Again, the staff are very helpful. I would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is a bit dated but staff service is excellent. Our family of 3 were allowed to check in early at 8 am and upgraded to a suite the next day. Breakfast is adequate with table service. The neighbourhood is safe with lots of restaurants.
Horrible place as this is not actually hotel , it is residential building from 1950 and someone took the last 2 floors and converted it into hotel. Very outdated, dirty rooms, insects , smoking everywhere, entrance blocked by cafes , not recommended for us citizen , it has a classified as 2 stars hotel in Egypt and marked to be diminished soon
Not for American citizens, we made a mistake looking at positive reviews till we went there and found it only 2 stars in Egypt , it last 2 story in residential building from the 1950 , the main entrance is blocked by cafe where people sits outside and smoke , rooms full of cigarets smell as no rules for smoking , food horrible in the morning , no coffees or tea they give you hot water with packet , too dirty and full of infects , paid $200 a night was biggest mistake I made in my life .
Amazing staff, nice gym, and nice sauna. Great location also.
NEED MAJOR RENOVATION
Staff there was polite and kind. The room is old but quiet and clean. We enjoyed breakfast there too. Simply we were happy there.
The kettle in the room was broken. I asked for a replacement and never got one. They do not leave a sheet with the extension numbers you might need. I got a hold of room service and asked for a copy of the menu, never got it. It was almost like they were hoping I’d forget I asked for things. Room service apparently also stops at 4 PM. The receptionists were unusually and irrationally hostile; they also kept repeatedly asking my friend and I what rooms we were in every time they would see us, like they were suspicious or something (we did not do anything suspicious).
The bathroom had no hair dryer and no toothpaste or toothbrush like most hotels would have. The bathtub design was also really physically uncomfortable and I would have to lean back to even fit my body under the shower. The water flow was very weak and sporadic, but warm so that was something.
It’s a beautiful historic hotel, the aesthetics are gorgeous and location is great. Unfortunately I felt like the service quality ruined that experience.
The room had a strong odor of tobacco. The carpets are old and dirty.
A decent hotel with attentive housekeeping, but some of the amenities listed (restaurant/bar, exercise room) weren’t available. But there are several restaurants and a Starbucks a short walk away.
Traditional styling, located in good position on zamalek island. Room sizes were impressive. Hotel rooms had cockroaches in and we found dead ones under the beds.
Hotel staff didn’t speak good English so was difficult to communicate at times.
Location
Good location. Property is very dated. Not 4*, probably 2*
great hotel great location whoever the WiFi is spotty and only Arabic language TV
