Nelli’s warm smile and attentiveness, the comfort of the hotel… We felt so relaxed and had such a wonderful time. Thank you so, so much😍
My husband and I stayed at the Periscope Hotel in Athens, Greece to celebrate our 40th anniversary and what a delight it was! Everyone from front desk to housekeeping to managment was extraordinarily wonderful - friendly, helpful, anxious to tell us about the city, make recommendations, reservations, or lend us a tablet to solve our cell phone problem the minute we checked in. Over the course of our stay in Greece, we stayed in 3 rooms and each was perfect. Of course, the penthouse with it's private rooftop hot tub was the most perfect!
We had booked a standard room using Marriott Bonvoy points and were immediately upgraded to a superior room. The room is sleek and modern, comfortable bed,and is cleaned daily. The penthouse was a real treat! Huge room with a sitting area, great view, the works.
The location is very convient with loads of shops and restaurants, the National Botanical Garden, the Plaka, and more just minutes away. It is a very walkable area. There is snack food, coffee and other drinks available in the lobby all the time.
We loved the Periscope and their staff so much that we will definely be returning on our next trip to Athens! Give it a try; you won't be sorry!
I am currently staying at this hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with the front desk. This morning I politely asked if I could check out a bit later and even offered to pay for it. The receptionist immediately said the hotel was “fully booked” and refused without making any effort to check. She said this with a smile, but it felt insincere and dismissive rather than helpful.
After the call, I checked the hotel’s own website and saw that several rooms were still available – including a Junior Suite. I then checked Booking.com and found the same rooms available there as well, even at a cheaper rate. This makes me feel that I was not told the truth, which is unacceptable and unprofessional for a 4-star hotel.
The hotel is clean, but other than that, there is nothing special about it, and the lack of honesty at reception is a serious concern. I value transparent customer service, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.
The staff was exceptional !!
It made our time in Athens a joy !!
If you are a 1st timer in Athens or an experienced visitor- I highly recommend the Periscope hotel.
Remember it is a boutique hotel- so the location is perfect- the hotel has a limited number of rooms and the staff are truly welcoming and knowledgeable. The staff made this an outstanding experience.
I had a fantastic experience at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional – they truly made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The rooms were spotless, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable. I also loved the location – it was convenient, quiet, and close to everything I needed. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!
Don’t book if you value daylight. Standard rooms have a view into the void which feels like the backyard of a prison. Also that Rooftop spa is deliberately misleading - it’s only in the roof top suite and not accessible to guests.
Wellness does not exist. It’s ‘outsourced’ to another hotel.
Most frustrating is that the hotel description is deliberately misleading.
Great hotel close to the core of Athens in a good neighborhood. Staff was great! They arranged pickup for us at the cruise port and transport to the airport when we left. As well they booked tours for us with a great tour company. Always there to help and with a greeting every time we entered or existed. A special bonus is that they put out all day snacks and drinks at no charge! This was a nice treat after a long day of checking out Athens or a coffee, tea and snack in the evening. Only thing to be aware of is a lack of multiple outlets/ports for charging all of our multiple technology devices. Bring an adapter that can handle a few devices at a time. Room came with slippers, robes, hair dryer, safe and lots of closet space and drawers for the longer stays. Easy walk to great restaurants, transit, hop on, hop off buses and attractions. Great place if you are traveling to this amazing city.
Great hotel
A truly lovely find in Athens’ elegant Kolonaki neighborhood; close to everything, sleek boutique hotel with very comfortable and well-appointed rooms and an absolutely wonderful staff, this is a great pied-a-terre far from the mega or touristy hotels. With very few rooms, the vibe is hip, chic and understated. The staff clearly loves their city and are happy to offer recommendations for restaurants that were spot-on in terms of delicious and great people-watching. In a busy, noisy city like Athens, it’s wonderful to stay in a quiet, comfortable and welcoming hotel.
Sub-standard “standard” room. Have stayed at this hotel in the past due to its location in Kolonaki but everything has gone downhill since. Upon arrival zero recognition for AMEX platinum status or Marriot Bonvoy gold and an inhospitable welcome. The hotel is comprised of 5 rooms per floor, 4 of which face the street and have large windows. These are called premium rooms. There is 1 standard room per floor which ends in -05 and it is ersatz to the rest. It’s in a back corner of the building that has no direct light. It’s in a very narrow light well staring directly into other buildings walls, pipes, and mechanical systems. The bed faces the door and the hallway and a crawl space accessed via a ventilation panel into the common corridor. The entire room was always dark at any time of day. There were black out shades but not any in the bathroom so the small crevasse of light that came through the bathroom also came into the room since the bathroom didn’t have black out. There was a lot of light seepage from the hallway and air vent above the door into the room as bright as the downlight in the hallway. The sound in the hotel is loud and constant. Not from the street, but from other guests dragging chairs across the floor, closing the bathroom door, and flushing the toilet — you can hear everything. Byredo products in bathroom were empty upon arrival and never refilled for 2 night stay. I would not recommend this room to anyone. I would be very careful to check what room you are getting. I would double check to see if the hotel is full if you’re expecting any sort of upgrade or room swap. There aren’t really any perks or positive things to say about the hotel.
We only stayed here one night but we enjoyed it. It's quite close to the metro but quite a steep walk up the hill. We loved the neighborhood - very charming and unique. Lots of great restaurants and shops. The rooms were very simple but cute and clean. The free snacks they gave away were very tasty!
It wasy second time in Athens . I wanted an option close to the city center . Choosing periscope turned out to be the best choice I ve made . The people there will make everything so you can have the best possible experience while giving the best recommendations . Housekeeping was superb.
One of the best experiences of my life! The room , the cleanliness ,the staff service and the location couldnt be better . See you soon next year
This is an understated boutique hotel in the heart of Athens. The rooms are nice. But what is striking is their friendly service. The staff goes out of its way to ensure you feel at home. Everything they do, they do with the guest’s comfort and happiness in mind. I have found my home in Athens and it will be Periscope. My compliments to Yannis, Sophia and Diana who serve with a smile and put their heart and soul into making their guests feel at home.
the staff at the Periscope was so helpful ! They made excellent dinner reservations for me and arranged a taxi to the restaurant and well as to the airport. I was traveling alone and didn't know how to work some of the things in the room and they were extremely patient in coming up and helping me always with a smile on their face and with the electrical
adapter I needed. They were so sweet and helpful. I felt well taken care of.
The bed was also extremely comfortable!
This hotel is located in a very nice area of Athens and ideally located near touristic sites. The rooms are clean and well arranged. The staff is very welcoming and extremely helpful. Will definitely book again when in Athens.
My second visit to Periscope Hotel and both times have been exemplary. The lady at reception is without a doubt the friendliest person I have ever encountered in a hotel in all my years
The place is clean, the rooms are spacious, the air con is quiet and works very well. Sleep is not a problem as someone who struggles with noise it is one of the quieter areas in Athens and I’ve sleep well on both trips.
There are snacks and drinks available in reception for free throughout the day. Can’t comment on the breakfast as it was on the pricier side.
This is my go to when in Athens
Second stay at Periscope amazing again. The team work so hard in making your stay the best it can be. The rooms are quiet, spacious and clean and the bed is comfy. Snacks and drinks for free in the lounge area what more could you ask for?
This boutique hotel gave us the warmest welcome. Iannis the manager, was so helpful and generous with his time. The hotel rooms aren't huge but they have a snack area where you can get coffee or snacks 24/7. Iannis and his staff make a big effort to help their guests get the best experience of their Athens stay.
The Periscope is truly hidden. There is no sign, but when you arrive the staff is very attentive and helpful. There are limited numbers of rooms, and the view out my window was lacking, but otherwise this boutique hotel hits it all.
My room was very present and the A/C worked. There are snacks, soft drinks and coffee available 24/7.
You won’t be disappointed staying at the Periscope.
