Hotel Kea is the perfect location. It's very clean and overall a great choice. I would stay there again.
We firstly stayed in kea hotel akureyi which was fanatisic guy. Behind the desk was really helpful. Are flights got changed from akureyi to Reykjavik we asked the hotel is they could change are last night to a hotel in Reykjavik and they did they allowed us to move to another one of there hotels in Reykjavik free of charge. The second hotel was just as lovely a staff there also freindly. Breakfast in the morning was substantial and filling
Three night personal stay plus one night at the end of my winter active tour. Check in was quick and friendly. All staff encountered were professional and friendly.
My room was as requested and clean and comfortable. You need to request housekeeping.
As a solo occupant in a double room I had plenty of space. Shower pressure is good however please note you may need to be patient ( 2+ minutes) for the hot water to work its way through ( geothermal). If you are on a water meter at home this can be quite a "culture shock" ($$$)
I only dined in the restaurant with the group on the last night and the meal was excellent . The lamb was very good. Breakfast was, by comparison, ok. I found it rather lacklustre. When one compares breakfast here to other hotels both within the Kea chain and similar rated non Kea hotels it is, for me at least, average. Nothing to complain about just disappointing.
Friendly staff.
The hotel was clean, check in very easy and quick. Lady who checked us in was lovely.
The bar was closed for maintenance from Sunday, which wasn't communicated to us and we came into the hotel to it closed off with a sign on.
I come to Iceland every January for the Dark Music Days classical festival in Reykjavík. Often I come early and spend a few days in magical Akureyri beforehand. I always aim to stay at the Hotel Kea, an oasis of calm and winter coziness.
What amazing concierges at the Keahotel so polite friendly and very helpful to help our needs couldn't thank you all enough
Location,brekfast.
Location within the town and proximity to restaurants and all the main town attraction was great. With the town being small enough, it was easy to get out of town without spending much time in traffic or anything of that sort. Highly would recommend. Breakfast was great, fresh and plenty everyday. Room the room itself was also good size, clean and comfortable.
With the weather being nice and warm and needing to keep windows open at night to cool off the room, the noise from the busy street would come in and disturb sleep. With bars and other places open till late at night, it would make much more sense to have better noise insulation and some type of cooling system for the warmer nights. With more people visiting Iceland, this might be a worthwhile upgrade to the hotel.
Breakfast buffet was the best we experienced on our trip. Location was in town and close to restaurants and shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful.
No complaints.
