Beach at the back porch? Hell yeah

We choose this place because it was literally on the beach. The room ws dirty and in need of some repairs. We had no water either until later in the evening. The staff w very nice and when i expressed my disappointment at the condition of the room she told.me there were.new owners and it was being renovated. She also gave me a discount if we wanted to come.back. the view of the ocean and being able to walk from our room to the water was why we stayed. We will come.back after the renovation.

We booked a night through Expedia and they all took our money, at arrival, hotel was completely closed and dark, now they refuse to return our money, I mean Expedia, saying they cannot communicate with this place. I have lots of free time, unless I get my money back or another reservation date is provided, plus compensation for having to drive back home for 3 hours in the middle of the night with our 3 yo daughter, I am sending this case to Florida Attorney General, BBB and Consumer Protection. Already loving it!

Wow this property exceeded my expectations because of the front desk staff Lisa❤️ she was so attentive caring and kind. She answered all of my questions and did her very best to make sure my stay was as pleasant as she was. I got the ocean front room and let me just say I felt spoiled and at peace. The room was NICE and the view was amazing 🤩 thank you so much Lisa for providing excellent customer service.

TERRIBLE ! STAY AWAY ! We had few nights reservation based mainly on pictures on their website. In reality everything is completely different. Elevator is dirty, some paneling missing and replaced with wood panels and smells very bed. Room is dirty, moldy smell, paint peeling of the walls, rust on bedside lamps, bedding disgusting, sofa sticking with dirt, kitchenette awfully dirty, its unthinkable to bring any food in there, bathroom is dirty, moldy and smelly, not in shape to take a shower in. In just a minute we turn around and we left. Expedia, on our behalf tried to get our money back but the manager refused to return our money, including 7 nights stay, damage deposit and climatic charge. We feel cheated and robbed. STAY AWAY FROM MAKAI !!!!!

You pay for what you get.The staff was nice. The rooms were not the best but the view make it all worth it.

Excellent service. The views and the pool are the reasons to stay here. It might be budget motel accommodation, but cant complain with a full kitchen in unit and the beach step from my sliding door. We had an excellent time and enjoyed our weekend immensely!

I love everything about the Makai

The staff was super nice and friendly, the pool area is also nice. Best thing about it is the view. I stayed Oceanfront on the bottom floor and you can’t beat the view. I just wanted a quick get away and other than the air conditioner making a really annoying and loud squealing type noise (I brought a fan so I just turned the AC off the 2nd night) the room was clean for the most part. They could use better blankets but just bring your own. There was a room, I’m assuming, with a kitchen where the door was in my room and theirs (adjoining rooms) and it sounded like they were in my room but they weren’t noisy late at night so it was fine. I think they really need to work on the outside of the place just a coat of paint or something. Would I stay here again? Yes. The view was great, staff was nice and if you just need a room to sleep in, for the price, can’t beat it.

The stay here was impeccable matched only by the service of the employees. Breakfast was very good. Biscuits and gravy on the weekends so I mean come on come on come on

I've stayed at the Makia many times over the last 6 years.
My wife has been staying with them over the past 40 years.
The building is showing its age.. the owners are doing their best to keep up with it.. the newly remodeled kitchen & breakfast area looks great.
Our room was clean.. maintaince had to replace the refrigerator during our stay.
The view of the beach was great! Our bed very comfortable. Hotel.com said hotel was pet friendly but did not tell us there is a $25.00 per day charge for pets. Even for service dogs .
Would I choose the Makia again? Most definitely!

Family had a great time Labor Day weekend, the price was fair this may be our new go to motel.

Dirty rooms, bed sheet with brown stains Dirty floors and old trash from old guest was im the floor, discosting hotel, I will never stay there again

Definitely great if you are looking for a affordable place close to where the attractions are.
