Excellent stay – highly recommended
Pros:

!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely come back again. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Check-in was smooth and fast.

The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with all the amenities I needed. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept very well. Housekeeping did a great job
Special thanks for Ms. Amira at the front office she is very helpful and had a great smile and hospitality

gooood one !
Pros:

We were from Luxor to Aswan at night. Because we were afraid of insecurity, we called the front desk. It was felotabeer who answered the phone. He quickly understood the situation and confirmed our situation all the way. Finally, when we arrived at the hotel, he also confirmed our situation again and again. During the day, when we went out, someone came to make the bed for us. When we came back at night, nothing was lost. Usually, there were security guards who came to the hotel to confirm their identity. In general, their service was really good, and the safety was completely good. The internal and external environment of the hotel is very good, and it is especially suitable for rest by the Nile. The location is good and convenient. The room is relatively old, but the basic functions are all good!

Bad experience
Pros:

The rooms are good, but all the staff are harsh and unfriendly.
The restaurant is unclean and there are cats around.
The staff never smile.
I booked breakfast and dinner for seven nights throughout my stay, and it was the same food with absolutely no change. The portions were insufficient, and the egg cooker at breakfast was irritable, didn't look at anyone, and didn't attend to my requests.
The air conditioning didn't work in the rooms or the restaurant, and it was very hot with no ventilation.
Overall, it was a bad experience, and I won't repeat it.
I will advise all my friends not to go to that place.

Amazing staff, view & value for money!
Pros:

The first thing I'd like to highlight at Basma Hotel was the staff. They were truly exceptional, starting from the reception team (especially Mariam) over the guest relations team led by Reham and the kitchen staff led by Sayed. Before our stay, I requested a quiet room as high up as possible with a soft bed, and they went above and beyond: They even added a super-soft mattress topper to make the bed extra comfortable and cosy.

Whenever I had an issue or concern, the team responded right away and genuinely did their very best to help. The wifi was also the best I'd had during all my stays in Egypt.

We were placed on the highest floor possible, with an incredible view over the Nile and the pool. Waking up to that view felt magical.

Everyone was genuinely friendly, warm, and welcoming to the point where I actually made friends during our stay. A truly special experience!

Some suggestions for improvement
The shower and bathtub looked a bit worn, and the water pressure could have been stronger. It was also somewhat tricky to get the water to the right temperature.

Unfortunately, there is some construction going on just outside the Hotel and the pool area at the moment, which makes fully relaxing by the pool a bit challenging.

The breakfast buffet could also be improved for guests who are lactose intolerant or vegan: There were very limited options and no milk alternatives, which I would expect from a 4-star hotel, even in Egypt.

That said, aside from these points, everything else was amazing and the overall experience was still extremely positive.

Do not recommend
Pros:

Very dated and in need of room repairs. Shower screen broken, tap not working. Glad it was only one night.

Food took 45 minutes to arrive despite only 2 other couple in dining room, and once we were served, I knew why. Oven baked French fries. Below par for a hotel, let alone any venue outside one’s own home.

Lovely hotel but ripped off for airport taxi
Pros:

This hotel is high up above Aswan and overlooks the city and the Nile. If you get a Nile view room the view is stunning

Good buffet breakfast with the option to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the view

Experience was ruined by being ripped off by the hotel for a taxi to the airport. They charged 20 times the going rate but by the time we found out it was too late to organise an alternative. Very annoying end to what would have been a nice stay

A decent hotel for Egypt, worth considering
Pros:

Only stayed here one night at the end of our trip. Similar to the first hotel where we stayed 3 nights before going on a boat, this hotel is rather dated, much more so in fact.

It’s spacious and the rooms are good but the place is a bit shabby when you start to look closely. The pool area is covered in very faded astroturf and the sun loungers a bit stained. You can order drinks and food from the restaurant while sunning yourself.

Talking of which, we only had an evening meal here and went for the buffet which was very good, less fussy than at the first hotel. Some in our group had à la carte but didn’t seem enamoured with it so stick with the former.

The hotel is opposite the Nubian Museum, worth a visit, and some in our group ventured into the city on foot which was 30 minutes away.

Overall, a decent enough hotel for Egypt for a short stay.

Safe Option in Aswan!
Pros:

Good hotel for your stay in Aswan, it is fairly central and the rooms are spacious and clean. There is also a in house restaurant for convenience.

The staff is very kind and ready to help , especial mention to Mohamed negm who helped us with a big issue ( lost of a passport) he went above and beyond to help us make all the phone calls and get the passport back even outside his shift, so we are super thankful to Mohamed for his outstanding attention!

A great experience in Aswan, Egypt!
Pros:

The location overlooking Aswan and the Nile river is amazing/picture worthy. The restauraunt did an amazing job preparing some of the best shawarma we had all week, and they did it despite our late night arrival so we were double happy! The room was spacious with an amazing view, and big sliding doors out on the the huge deck common deck area. Everything was clean in our room as well as the common areas we experienced.
The service was fantastic - never let us touch our bags, made us a late meal, and provided drinks out on the deck while we enjoyed our meal.
We would 100% recommend this hotel while in Aswan.

My stay was great, except for the inappropriate behavior of the man at the reception
Pros:

The hotel is in a great location and I really enjoyed the beautiful places in Aswan. The property is clean and well-maintained.
However, my experience was ruined by something very disturbing. The receptionist named Mohamed (I saw his name on the tag) acted inappropriately. He touched my hand twice on purpose, followed me to the elevator, and later tried to harass me in the hallway.
I was shocked and terrified. I truly hope the hotel management takes serious action about this.

A Beautiful Lovely Stay!
Pros:

We had a truly lovely stay at Basma Hotel in Aswan! The hotel is beautifully located on a hill, offering stunning views of the Nile and the city, especially magical at sunset. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. We really appreciate the relaxing atmosphere, spacious rooms, and clean, well-maintained facilities. The pool area was a great place to unwind after a day of exploring, and the on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a nice variety. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable stay. We definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Aswan! A big thank you to Reham for making this special birthday a super memorable one.

BXXL SXXT HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros:

We had originally reserved an executive club , which should have been in a different location. However, we ended up at the Basmah Hotel. I repeatedly confirmed with the front desk that we had reserved a family suite in the executive lounge (for which we paid extra), but when they found out there were only two of us, they unilaterally changed our room type to a standard room. When we discovered this, the hotel manager promised us a complimentary dinner, but it turned out to be just a free buffet that was extremely unappetizing!!! The extra money we paid was much more than the value of the buffet!!! It was so bad!!! We will never come back!!!

Pros:

Looking for a place to unwind and relax? Aswan is definitely the place to be and Basma hotel is an excellent option. High Summer is Low Season because of the heat, but, as it is located on a mountain, even during midday, you can experience a wonderful breeze and sitting in the shade on your terrace, overlooking Aswan and the Nile is absolute bliss.
Service is attentive and professional; I would like to give a thumbs up to the lovely ladies of the Guest Relation Team. The Chefs are also doing a very good job and coffee at breakfast (always important) is outstanding.
Rooms are clean, amenities plentiful, public areas and landscape are well taken care of. I particularly liked the amazing sculptures throughout the hotel and hotel-grounds and the Nubian touches in the décor.
Highly recommended and I will definitely return.

Excellent Hotel in a beautiful place
Pros:

I booked this hotel in Aswan previously with no knowledge of it (but a lot of experience of hotels throughout Egypt)) and I was VERY impressed. I am currently staying again and my expectations were not only met but exceeded!
Priced as an upper-mid range hotel one can expect service easily to five star quality. I’d go as far as to say exceptional service. Good food at a very good price, clean and comfortable, a great location and amazing views.
The Basma Hotel is a wonderful place to stay in Aswan. I have to give special thanks to guest relations (especially) , check-in and restaurant staff. Superb service and a lovely hotel.

Pros:

Originally we were assigned a room that was below the category we had booked, but the next day were moved to a better one. Except for the terrace the room and the common areas were clean. The breakfast buffet offered great variety and the restaurant, both the buffet and the a la carte was reasonable. Special thanks to Reham who made us feel welcome and at home.

Avoid this scammers paradise
Pros:

This hotel could be a gem but poor management, lack of maintenance, and fraud in the restaurant make it a turd.

Upon arrival we were greeted, and folks offered to carry our bags up the stairs so that was pretty standard. Check-in was fine.

The rooms are small and ours was very outdated. It’s nothing like the photos shared by management so be aware that the property is in varying states of repair. You may luck out, you may not.

After putting our stuff in our room, we went down to the restaurant for dinner. They had no menu, just buffet and no disclosed prices. Later they said $15US. This is not a convenience, this is a made up number for tourists, but fine.

They did provide a drink menu and we ordered drinks. The drinks were ok but I’m positive there was no alcohol in them and they were rum cocktails. All three of us agreed there was no alcohol and were from Wisconsin so, rest assured, we’re professionals in this area. First scam.

With the bill, the server worked on the numbers for a while and eventually presented it. The math was close enough so I proceeded to pay it in cash. The total was 3515E£. I counted out 3600 (twice, all in 200 bills) and gave it to him. On our way out he flagged us and showed us that one of the bills was a 50 so we were short. Now, this was technically possible because the one and only 50 I had received the entire trip was given to me at that table by my brother for his share so I thought, maybe I screwed up and somehow managed to get that bill in the stack. But, when I reached into my bag to grab another 200, I pulled out that 50. So, he was trying to scam us.

The following night we begrudgingly returned to the restaurant because the food is actually good and we had an early departure in the morning after a long hot day touring. This time, we planned to pay with card to avoid the possibility of bill changing. The server brought back a bill with lots of difficult math on it and a total 1000E£ higher than it should have been. We dealt with it and payed the correct amount. On our way out, we overheard another customer arguing with the same server over his bill.

There is rampant scamming going on in the restaurant. And here’s the thing, there’s no way management doesn’t know that at this frequency. So, now I find myself concerned leaving anything in the room too. I’m now in a zero trust mode at my hotel and that’s a horrible customer experience.

Another issue is that the lock on our bathroom door was very sensitive and my daughter got trapped inside. We couldn’t get it open quickly so I called for service. She did get it open before someone arrived so I called down to cancel. Someone came anyway, which is fine. But after he arrived and I told him we resolved the issue, he insisted on coming in and showing me that the door worked, and then said very rudely “unlocked” as if I didn’t understand how to use a door knob, rolled his eyes and left. Not exactly good service. Of course the door is open, there’s not a young girl trapped inside anymore either, Bozo.

Last, make sure you double lock at all times. The staff gives zero s—ts about your privacy. There was no delay when the person came to assist between knock and opening the door and there was zero delay between a knock and housekeeping attempting to open the door for us. There are multiple patrons noting this and it’s extremely bad form.

General notes, the pool area is reasonably large and nice, but not enough seating at all. This is an easy fix do it further suggests poor management. The area is also run down and could use maintenance.

Positives: Nice property, great location for tours, front desk was courteous, restaurant food was surprisingly good, especially for a buffet.

Pros:

I didn’t have high hopes for this hotel based on the reviews so overall I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. We ended up staying here because our first choice was sold out. The breakfast buffet was really bad… the worst of our entire trip to Egypt. Our room was dated and we ended up with two twin beds. There is not a lot of food in the area when we asked the hotels for recommendations they said they only recommended this TGI Fridays rip off called makinis which was sub par but better than the hotel dinner buffet we had the day before. The prices for beer are good but other than that just be prepared for a dated hotel.
