stayed at Radisson Blu St Julians and unfortunately had several frustrating experiences that fell well short of what I'd expect from a five-star hotel.
On the evening of May 2nd, I approached the front desk to ask about purchasing breakfast. Before the female receptionist could even respond to my question, a man who appeared to be a manager rudely cut in and demanded to know what we wanted. When I asked whether we could purchase breakfast, he simply told us we could pay at the breakfast restaurant directly. The next morning, however, the breakfast restaurant staff informed us that we could have booked breakfast at the front desk at a discounted rate — information the so-called manager either didn't know or didn't bother to share. The breakfast itself was also underwhelming for a five-star property: the fruit wasn't fresh and the selection of dishes was quite limited.
The house keeping service was equally disappointing. The laundry bag in our room was not replenished in a timely manner, so we had to request one ourselves. I submitted a service request through the hotel's online system together with other things, but after 30 minutes nothing had been delivered. I eventually had to call the front desk myself to follow up, and even when the amenities finally arrived, the quantity was wrong.
For a hotel positioning itself at this level, the lack of staff coordination, the rude communication from management, and the inconsistent service quality were genuinely disappointing. I hope the management takes guest feedback seriously and addresses both staff training and service follow-through.
Pool area was nice. It was sheltered while affording optimal sunbathing during the days that were less still.
This hotel needs refurbishment, the door to the bathroom was decaying from water damage. There was little to indicate it was 5*. Breakfast was ok, not laid out in an easy to navigate manner. Staff at poolside were very poor, waited 20 mins for a coffee!
Breakfast and the great gesture to take note of my birthday and gift me a card and a piece of cake made me feel very special.
