Stayed here recently and was disappointed by the experience. The double room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed in, with barely any space to move around. I was charged €30 for a four-hour late checkout after having to stay overnight in hospital due to food poisoning, which felt unreasonable. The only positive was the staff in the bar/café area — they were genuinely friendly and helpful. Otherwise, not good value for money.
Need to improve on customer service
Good hotel, great staff in below average area.
The best hotel I have ever visited! Polite and friendly staff! Set clean and comfortable rooms…and delicious breakfast with big variety!
Employees use your booking information and contact details for personal purposes. They use them to text you and make flirtatious advances. A theft also occurred within the Dima facility, managed by the same owner.
A report will be done soon
Staff friendly, place clean but the are unsafe
I felt unsafe and afraid to walk alone, even in daylight. The location is very near Omonia Square, a notoriously bad neighborhood in Athens. There are a lot of drug users, and zombie-like people line the streets.
The room I had was small and dark. The safe was broken, and I was told I would have to wait for a technician to come and fix it, but in the 3 days I was there, he never showed up.
For the 9 floors of the hotel, there is only one small elevator, so the waiting time is very long.
During my stay, there were lots of youth groups staying—screaming and playing loud music all night.
One positive is the wonderful breakfast served on the roof terrace that has a nice view.
The hotel is good, the buffet breakfast was very nice and the restaurant at the terrace is very enjoyable. The area is not the best, i felt a bit uneasy walking around at night but on the other side there are great local restaurants around where the locals eat which offer excellent food for a good price. In general my experience was good. I would come back.
Hotel and staff were good, only the area is not safe so you should be careful
The hotel is good and comfortable; the only issue is that the area is not safe. However, everything else about the hotel was excellent.
Nice hotel & good helpful staff. Not too far of the centre.
Hotel is Ok but it is too noisy from street. Restaurant is very good.
the staff at this property VERY RUDE I cant believe this employees NOT SURTOMER SERVICE AT ALL, sense the moment i did my checking the guys was Rude.
They contribute to a scam property.
A property called Dima rooms wrote me to pick up the keys at this Hotel. I replied back that I will and I will arrive by 11pm.
When I arrived on 17th of September, Tuesday, I have been told on a rude way there is no keys for me. It happened when you don't pay to the owner.
It was shocking what that guy said. How he dares to say something like that in the middle of another customer.
Of course I paid and showed him the booking confirmation with the receipt. He said: It is too late to call to the owner. This hotel is full.
Next to this hotel, there is another one.
It was so unprofessional and rude. I checked about the hotel for curiosity and consider to report the another property and I just found out that others travellers experienced the same situation as I. It seriously need to be reported and investigated.
They leave you stranded in the middle of the night in a very unsafe area. The area in the hotel is in a really bad place, with plenty of drug addictions around. Keys never are left and the first thing it is coming to that guy is: 'You have no paid. It happens when they don't leave the keys'. Shame on the hotel and the staff they have
Clean and friendly service. Good food.
Poor location. Unhappy staff. Limited options for food and drinks at the hotel especially since the next restaurant is miles away
Given its prime location, the Golden City Hotel is definitely worth booking — especially considering the prices and included breakfast. We stayed here for seven nights and have only good things to say about the staff & the hotel.
The staff is very friendly and always ready to help, even with our random, middle-of-the-night questions
Some key bullet points:
- The view from the restaurant at the 8th floor, where you can enjoy your breakfast, is very enjoyable as is the modest but tasty breakfast buffet.
- Even more enjoyable (our should I say ...interesting) was the view from our room, which offered a little bit of everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING. You’ll almost feel like you're at the beach — minus the sea and sand, but with plenty of half-naked women / men / Xs walking around everywhere.
- It was the first time that I actually believed the random ads on my laptop, claiming there were hot women in the area waiting for me!
- There are plenty of small local pharmacies operating in the area near the hotel, you'll be able to purchase local snacks and medical supplies (like needles) 24/7! For actual medication, I'd still advice to go to a licensed pharmacy.
- The beautiful and touristic parts of Athens, are only a short cab-drive away.
- If you don't mind walking, google maps will bring you to the same parts in about 20minutes.
- There are many good restaurants, all within 10-20min walking distance. Check out tripadvisor for some tasty options.
- Want to walk back to the hotel, but your phone died? No worries — like an actual compass, following the needles on the ground will guide you straight back to the hotel area! * Pro tip: the more homeless people you encounter, the closer you are.
We traveled as a large group of 45 people and stayed at this hotel. Our stay was fine, but we were very disappointed when important items from several different rooms accidentally left behind upon our checkout were not "found" despite four separate efforts to inquire about the possessions. Our Apple air tag indicated that the items were in fact left behind in the hotel. Due to their lack of integrity, we cannot recommend this hotel, as we hold honesty in high regard.
Delicious breakfast, clean comfortable room and a good price, helpful staff at the front desk, the area looks a bit sketchy but it is safe I had no problems and it’s walkable to omonia square and it many cafes
They have wonderful breakfast a lot variety and the service on the reception is fine.and close to city center and clean rooms.
They have a place for your luggage if you check out and put your luggage they for some time. You can enjoye the cafe on the ground
