We chose this hotel very deliberately as our overnight stop in Innsbruck on the way to Italy. We specifically wanted a hotel outside the city centre with parking, and we booked a Superior Room approximately two months in advance and paid for it in full.
On the day of arrival, we were told at reception that our room was unavailable and that we had been moved to another hotel in the city centre. We only discovered this shortly before arrival — the hotel's email informing us about the change was sent at 13:15, just 1 hour and 40 minutes before check-in.
The most concerning part is that we received two completely different explanations.
The replacement hotel was also not a comparable solution. We deliberately avoided the city centre because we were travelling by motorcycle and needed convenient parking. Instead, we had to find and pay for overnight parking ourselves in the centre. The room we received was also clearly not comparable to the Superior Room we had booked, neither in size nor standard. Breakfast at the replacement hotel was even €5 more expensive.
Despite all of this, we were offered absolutely no compensation or even a basic gesture of goodwill — not even breakfast free of charge.
Being moved to another hotel at the last minute is already extremely inconvenient. Doing so after a guest has specifically chosen your property, booked two months in advance and paid in full requires at least transparency, a sincere apology and appropriate compensation.
Unfortunately, we received none of that.
Very disappointing handling of what should have been the first night of our holiday.
