Unfortunately our experience at the courtyard was not like a usual Marriott experience. Our room was not clean for 6/7 days, we called the front desk everyday requesting a cleaning when they didn’t show up, and also told them as we left. And walked into an unclean room, no new towels, no garbage taken out every single day.
The first room we were put in was not connected to the main building, this room was comparable to a motel 6, will include picture, old stuff from past occupants was left, the water wouldn’t get warm for 10+ minutes and we were told that was normal. The door had a gap in bottom so there was bugs. It was not a great experience and we will not be coming back, for the price we payed it should have been a better experience, nicer rooms etc.
Room was clean. Staff was helpful.
The cost of parking.
Location was o.k. Room was great, very comfortable
Some staff were more responsive that others! Problems weren't huge (safe wouldn't work nor the tv remote because there were no batteries). Maintenance guy was great but had to chase him up. Big issues with self-service laundry washing machines and dryers - they guy on reception took my details but didn't follow thru. Disappointed I couldn't use the balcony due to maintenance issues, and it was very, very noisy - I was on second floor (never again). Majority of staff were great, just one or two who let the side down.
Refurbished rooms and location
Staff did not accurately process booking and were poorly trained in systems and customer service
I recently completed a business trip and selected this property with the expectation of having a quiet, functional space to work when away from our exercise center. While I am only BonVoy Platinum Elite, reliable and efficient Wi-Fi is a reasonable baseline expectation across all Marriott properties—particularly those in major destinations.
Unfortunately, the internet service was wholly inadequate for business use. Throughout the stay, I experienced constant interruptions and dropped connections during Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom calls. Speed tests averaged 8 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload with 60ms+ ping (by Ookla), and signal strength hovered around –80 dBm (approximately 29% range). These issues persisted across both my work laptop and my personal devices. Even conducting calls on mainland time at 3:00 AM, when network congestion should be minimal, resulted in the same instability. I ultimately had to rely on my personal mobile hotspot—with video disabled—just to maintain reliable communication. WiFi Analyzer shows the default Marriot Router Channel (36) as one star (see attached) with the inability to change channels.
While the staff were excellent and valet services were superb, the property fell short in delivering a fundamental requirement for today’s business traveler: dependable internet connectivity. Given Marriott’s standards and expectations for BonVoy properties in 2025, this was a significant disappointment.
Very nice experience! The hotel is close to everything and the atmosphere was relaxed.
I try and make it a point to stay at Marriott hotels when I travel. I have atayed at this location on previous trips and this stay was below par. Arrived on 19OCT25 at 4pm from Virginia for business. Was informed that room was not ready and would still be a couple of hours. The front desk staff informed me that the hotel recently changed its house keeping company and the new staff was still “learning”. Went to dinner and returned at 6pm. Room was ready. When I got to the room there was a used bar of soap and used face towel still in the shower…. See picture…. I went back to front desk and asked for someone to come remove the items and clean the shower again…. This was literally at 630pm. Waited until 7pm no one. Called the front desk and was again told that the house cleaning staff was new and that someone would be to my room shortly. Well, fast forward to 6am on 20OCT and still no one. On my way out I again went to front desk and asked for someone to remove the items and clean shower. When I returned to hotel at 4pm , 10 hours later… items STILL in shower. Yet another trip to the front desk. This time the front desk person informed me that house keeping do go in and clean the shower…. WTH! When I showed her the picture of the used soap and towel that had been there since I got in to room the night before was what I also asked to be removed. Bottom line it was finally removed on late Monday night by house cleaning. Also complained to front desk about house keeping leaving the door latch in the frame which left my door open on 4 different occasions.
Pool area was beautiful. Staff were lovely and friendly.
The shower was tiny. The balcony was way too small and full of bird poo so you could not use it. The room was not cleaned properly and only done once in 8 days. The floor was never cleaned. We had to ask several times for toilet paper and coffee cups.
Stayed here for a 48-hour layover before heading to a dive trip in Micronesia. While it’s a bit pricey for a Courtyard, the location right in Waikiki Beach makes up for it. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable — perfect for a short stay. Just note that parking can be tricky: there’s no free option, and valet service costs $61 per night.
Swimming pool
Room size was extremely small
We stayed here for 6 nights. The room was a good size. Valet people were great and always smiling. Front desk people were ok. Our only complaint was poor housekeeping coordination. We stayed for 6 nights and room was only cleaned once. They only clean every other day and you need to make sure you remind the front desk several times to make sure your room is serviced on the day it is supposed to be cleaned.
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, target, coffee, and the beach. The rooms have paper thin walls and all night we heard noisy people, trucks outside, roosters, etc, it was LOUD! One of our rooms was super hot the whole day.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service my wife and I received during our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Hawaii from September 11 to September 15. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Member and an American Express Platinum cardholder, I expected a standard of service that reflects both the brand’s reputation and the benefits associated with my membership. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below those expectations.
Despite multiple opportunities, housekeeping failed to service our room without being explicitly asked. No fresh linens were provided proactively, and the room was not cleaned during our entire stay. The only reason any service occurred was because I lodged a complaint. To make matters worse, a staff member falsely claimed the room had been cleaned, which I find unacceptable and defamatory. I do not lie—to anyone—and I take great offense at being labeled as such.
The $65 credit offered was inadequate and insulting given the extent of the service failures. The internet connection was unreliable and unusable for my professional needs. Due to the lack of basic amenities, I was forced to use hand soap to shower before my departure flight. I’ve received better service at budget hotels, and this experience was not reflective of Marriott’s usual standards.
I believe racial bias played a role in the poor treatment we received. As a Black American with over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, I am acutely aware of how our concerns are often dismissed. The denial of Platinum benefits, the false accusations, and the overall neglect suggest a troubling pattern. If I were white, I do not believe I would have encountered these issues.
This property appears to be in need of renovation, and even basic amenities like ice were difficult to access. The staff’s behavior—particularly the dishonesty—was unacceptable and should be grounds for disciplinary action. I will be contacting Marriott’s corporate office and American Express to formally report this experience. I also intend to warn others about the discriminatory and substandard service at this location.
I expect a full investigation and meaningful resolution. I am not seeking a token gesture—I am demanding accountability.
Had handled issues efficiently in the room and the staff very polite
The TV would only go into standby mode and illuminated the room so like having a 42 inch night light. When I complained to the front desk, the response was “That’s weird”.
