Courtyard Marriott Honolulu
Pros:

The hotel near beach one block or parallel to Kuhio beach street . The rooms are on the older side but the location is good. I would choose the rooms that connect to the lobby

Courtyard Waikīkī – Disappointing Stay
Pros:

The Courtyard by Marriott Waikīkī fell short of expectations. Service was inconsistent, the facilities felt worn and outdated, and the room didn’t meet the comfort or cleanliness standards I expect from Marriott. The location is convenient, but the hotel itself needs major improvements before I’d consider returning.

On top of that, the valet situation was the worst part of the stay. The valet team themselves were amazing — friendly, hardworking, and doing their best — but the parking setup was terrible. Tight space, confusing flow, and overall poor conditions that made the whole process frustrating. The staff deserves better infrastructure to work with, and guests deserve a smoother experience.

Returning Feels Like Coming Home
Pros:

We returned to Courtyard Waikīkī Beach from July 26–28, 2026, nearly eleven months after our previous stay on August 31, 2025. It was wonderful to be back at a hotel that we had such fond memories of, and this visit reminded us exactly why we chose to return.

Courtyard Waikīkī Beach may not be the largest or most luxurious hotel in Waikīkī, but what truly makes it special is its welcoming atmosphere. The relaxed Hawaiian spirit, friendly team, and comfortable environment create a place that feels easy to return to time and time again.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly Eunike, Guest Service Manager.

What touched us the most was that, after more than ten months, she still remembered us. In an industry where thousands of guests come and go every year, being recognized and warmly welcomed back meant far more than any room upgrade ever could. That simple gesture made us feel genuinely valued and instantly brought back the familiar feeling of returning to a place where we belonged. It is this kind of sincere hospitality that cannot be taught—it comes from people who truly care about their guests.

We would also like to thank the entire hotel team for maintaining the same consistently warm and professional service that we remembered from our previous visit.

As Marriott Ambassador and Titanium Elite members, we stay at Marriott properties around the world throughout the year. We sincerely appreciate hotels that genuinely recognize and value loyal members, and Courtyard Waikīkī Beach continues to do exactly that. The elite recognition is generous, thoughtful, and always delivered with genuine hospitality rather than obligation.

That is precisely why loyal members keep coming back.

Luxury is not always defined by grand buildings or extravagant facilities. Sometimes, it is simply the feeling that people remember you, welcome you back, and make you feel at home.

For us, Courtyard Waikīkī Beach is one of the most highly recommended Marriott hotels in Waikīkī. It consistently delivers warm hospitality, excellent elite recognition, and a team that makes every return feel special.

Our heartfelt thanks again to Eunike and the entire team. We already look forward to our next visit to Waikīkī and to seeing everyone again!

Not good
Pros:

Positives you are 3 blocks from beach. Negative is hotel. Understaffed, rooms pretty motel-ish despite recent renovation. No one answers front desk phone. Our shower ONLY had piping hot water, a first. Do not recommend probably worst Marriott affiliated hotel
I've ever stayed at.

Even if you are a budget traveler, SKIP this one!
Pros:

I'm a thrifty traveler and I'm guessing you are too if you are reading this review. But I'm sorry I was just not comfortable at this motel/hotel and honestly couldn't wait to leave it. That's sad isn't it--this decision pretty much ruined my time in Oahu. My family of 4 and our friends who were a family of 5 stayed for 4 nights in two Junior Suites and paid $1479 total and that included a ~$40 per day waived destination fee that was included in my "special" rate plus a $50 credit towards my bill for their malfunctioning self serve laundry facilities which are $4 to wash and $4 to dry and operate by credit card. You also pay $63 for valet each day plus tip every time you need to get your car. I knew all of this ahead of time, but I still estimated the entire stay to be less than other properties in Waikiki. Yes, I know HI is expensive, but even with my discounts, paying $370 per night at THIS hotel is unacceptable. Just do yourself a favor, just book a different hotel. Here were some of our issues, I started to write them down:

-The junior suites have a pullout couch (which we needed for the 5th person) and two double beds. Wish they had been queens because it was TIGHT quarters in there. All the Jr. suites were in a separate building from the main hotel. These seemed like you were staying more in a motel. Even with AC in the room, the tropical rainy climate made everything seem damp in the room (sheets, towels, etc). I'm not sure if the main hotel rooms feel this way or not but the rooms in this building did.

--The housekeeping only came 1 time during our stay. This made it gross because of all the wet damp towels. I asked for more dry ones and then there was just a heap of towels on the floor until the service came. Yes, we did try to hang them up but with 4 people and all of the wet bathing suits, towels etc, there weren't a ton of towel racks.

--The walls were paper thin. We could hear all the roosters, loud neighbors and crying babies, garbage trucks, etc from the 4th and 5th floors. This was especially bad for the person sleeping on the pullout which was near the balcony sliding doors.

--The elevator to our tower broke on day one. But was fixed by the end of the day.

--Our sink was clogged (gross) and I couldn't fix it so I had to call maintenance to fix it, along with the shampoo dispenser in the shower which also wasn't working.

--The laundry facilities were on the 1st floor of our building and were OUTSIDE in the elements. The hotel really needs to dedicate a space inside the main building for this. I cannot imagine how often they have to replace or repair the machines in this climate. But more importantly the space where they are is DISGUSTING. It rained several times we were there and there is a rigged up "roof" above it so there was just dirty, standing water on the floor in a hot humid laundry area. Because nobody has laundry baskets, everyone was carefully trying to remove their laundry from the machines without any of it falling on the dirty floor. Gross!! Also, as mentioned the dryer machine ate my money on several tries so they gave me a $50 credit which was appreciated.

--Lastly , some of the clientele at this hotel will be smoking weed in the elevators and steal your Crocs which we accidentally left at the pool overnight :(

Next time in Oahu, I will search for accommodation outside of Waikiki OR will splurge for one of the beach front hotels further down the strip. Using your hotel points for a better hotel would be ideal, or finding one with free breakfast, (Embassy Suites, etc) because yes Hawaii is expensive!!

Very Disappointing Staycation
Pros:

I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki for the first time to have my staycation. Before I c/o, I saw my vehicle was covered in bird droppings on the way to go back to my hotel room. It was literally ALL OVER and it was shocking to see because I just washed my vehicle before c/i but more than that I was pretty surprised by the quality of the valet service because I saw some other vehicles are also in a similar situation. However, I resigned myself to the fact that it couldn't be helped. The reason I'm writing this review is not about the experience; this is about the valet stuff who brought my vehicle upon check out. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name, but he was a young male person had a long hair in a bun (7/25th on Sunday at 11am) I mentioned him little bit about my vehicle when he pulled it over... I said, " it's very dirty..." and he simply said ONE word   "yeah"   and LEFT.  I wasn't asking for any compensations or something like that, but I was definitely not expected to have the service and hospitality as I also work at Hotel industry in Waikiki.

It was very disappointing experience, especially my stay was good till c/o.  I had to ask hsk 3 times to deliver some towels which wasn't a good thing, but I understand it happens when the hotel gets busy and it wasn't a big deal to me. I enjoyed my stay till I had the very last experience.

As I work in the same industry, I know how the impression of the entire hotel is easily formed by the service provided by a single person. It is a great shame that his attitude gave the entire hotel a bad image. It is sad to say but I will not recommend your hotel to my family and friends.

It was okay.
Cons:

Didn't like the $35 destination fee added at checkout, there was only one chair, no closet, no luggage rack, very limited bathroom counter space and no functioning blind in small bathroom window.

Worst hotel stay of my entire life
Pros:

This hotel is the absolute worst experience I have ever had a hotel. First, the valet does not even bring your luggage to the check in area yet alone your room, in fact you have to return the cart to the valet area when you are done. Also, they decided that having a huge pool party would be a great idea. It was supposed to be over at 7pm, yet not they are saying maybe by 9pm. I have a 5.5 month old baby who cannot sleep with the super loud music. Do. Not. Stay. Here.

DO NOT STAY HERE
Pros:

Horrible, horrible, horrible! Staff is horrible. Housekeeping rooms were not prepared. Mckinkey and Meynard are the worst. This place continues to go down! I have stayed under previous management and even the front office staff the current management do not know what they’re doing. Please REMOVE the Marriott name!!!!

Motel6 or Courtyard? What to choose?
Pros:

Never again. Seriously.
I travel frequently and usually choose Marriott or Hilton properties. Marriott is generally a safe bet, so I never expected a Courtyard by Marriott to make me wonder whether I had accidentally booked a Motel 6.
My first room had pubic hair on the shower floor and smelled like dirty socks. The air conditioner couldn’t be adjusted or turned off and ran nonstop. After calling the front desk, I waited more than 30 minutes for a technician and another 30 min for him in my room fixing it.
For my second stay, I booked a “better” room. Instead, I was placed in the older building, which was noticeably worn and less appealing than the newer one.
The real surprise was the door—it would not lock at all. Not difficult to lock. Not broken occasionally. It simply would not lock. Since the room opens directly to an exterior walkway, this was more than a minor inconvenience. Yes, they fixed it but I’m not comfortable.
If you stay here, don’t assume you’ll be assigned to the newer building. My experience was disappointing enough that I won’t be staying here again.

Worst Marriott property
Pros:

We stay at Marriott properties all over. These were the worst rooms- small and cheap. Was able to get into the Waikiki Marriott for my second night. Also in a very busy loud part of town

A once in a lifetime experience. You go once and period.
Pros:

Hotel location was 12min walk to Waikiki. Room was average and simple.

Cons:

Eveything was so expensive. The room was located above the bar and pool, so it was noisy when we opened the door of the balcony.

Above‑and‑Beyond Hospitality at Courtyard Waikiki
Pros:

I’m in Hawaii for a multi‑month work stay, and after a disappointing experience at another hotel, I moved to the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki. The difference has been incredible.

After about twenty days, I asked about upgrading my room. The staff clearly explained the small additional charge and immediately offered to show me the room so I could decide for myself. Later that day, I received an email from Lorey Martin, the Assistant Front Office Manager, suggesting I also view one of their one‑bedroom suites since I’d be staying long‑term. His approach was thoughtful and never pushy.

I ended up moving from 199 sq ft to 399 sq ft suite for what I consider a very reasonable price. A few minor issues I mentioned were fixed the same day while I was at work.

The service here has been consistently excellent. The valet team deserves special recognition, Vincent always has my car ready and even remembers my schedule. Housekeeping has also been outstanding, always respecting my Do Not Disturb sign and leaving notes to keep me informed.

This hotel has made my extended stay in Waikiki comfortable and stress‑free. Highly recommended for long‑term travelers and anyone who values great service.

Pros:

GOOD STAY!
Pros:

Stayed here for 3 nights for business.

Pros:
Great location – in the heart of Waikiki. Everything is less than a 10 minute walk away, including the beach.
Target and the International Market Place about a 6-7 minute walk away.
Plenty of restaurants, dessert places, etc. nearby.
Friendly staff – I have to give a shoutout to the young lady (who said she was a manager) working the nightshift when I checked in on Tuesday night. It was past 10pm and she was the only one working the desk and a handful of people waiting. She was very patient and friendly and was as efficient as possible.
Decent room – based on reviews, I did not have high expectations but the room was actually pretty good. First, it was quiet which was great because I got a good night’s sleep. There was one night where I had some party-goers outside and some cars revving their engines, so I would recommend bringing earplugs. However, the A/C worked great, and I had a nice, partial view of the ocean from the balcony (stayed on 14th floor). Did not hear anything from nearby guests or rooms.
Good pool and gym – felt clean.
Free water and ice dispenser in the lobby.

Cons:
Short staffed – 2 staff at front desk in the evenings would be helpful. This is a busy hotel for not only being in Waikiki, but I saw airline staff and cruise staff staying here too.
The room did feel a little muggy at times when turned off, so I would recommend keeping the A/C on at all times.
The shower took a while for hot water to come out. And it was never hot, more like warm.

I would stay here again in the future, mostly because I tempered my expectations and understand that you won’t be getting a 5-star hotel unless you pay $1K a night.
The hotel did it’s job and a small word of advice to visitors is to remember “Hawaii time” as it will apply to mostly everything you experience there. So be patient and enjoy the good times.
