I don’t recommend this hotel at all! I had to be relocated to a different room because my room smelled like mold and mildew. In fact, every time I entered the hotel, I smelled mold and mildew. The room that I was moved to had water stains coming from the AC unit. I didn’t feel safe in the hotel. I was afraid that it would crumble any day due to water leaks. Exoticca provided the hotel as part of my vacation package to Colombia.
My safe didn’t work and my AC remote didn’t work because the batteries had to be replaced. No big deal but you would think that they would check to make sure everything worked before moving someone into the room. Watching TV was a nightmare because the network wasn’t connecting. When it did connect, the connection was very slow. The shower door didn’t close and there was a slow drain in the bathroom. However, it appeared that the Housekeeper fixed it the following day.
The hotel and the rooms are worn and outdated. The food was decent, but I only had the breakfast buffet. The discotheque was fun, but would’ve been nicer if the DJ had stuck around and accepted special requests. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, especially since I spoke little Spanish and they spoke little English. I did like that the hotel was across the street from the beach, but I never had time to go there. And good luck crossing the street with traffic not willing to stop for pedestrians!
I wasn’t happy that the hotel didn’t allow me to have an outside massage Therapist provide a massage to me later in the evening, because their spa closes at 8 PM. After being on all day tours every day, it would’ve been nice to have been able to get a massage in my room later at night. The only way I could do that was if I had agreed to pay for an extra person spending the night at the hotel which I obviously didn’t need and that wasn’t gonna happen. So I had to hire a massage therapist and go to their establishments during my stay.
We arrive from Canada 🇨🇦. AIR CANADA all inclusive 2 of us first time in Cartagena. The hotel was simple but this is the difference everything was so nice the staff so friendly. These people in Colombia was very nice. Fabian the waiter in buffe was realy nice all them very friendly very bizy hotel in boca Grande. I am Canadian but I move in Canada from Greece 🇬🇷 20 years ago .I thought Greece is no 1 .Now i know Colombia 🇨🇴 is no 2.Better from Mexico and Dominica Republic very organized. The hotel is in good location just dont take all inclusive take only breakfast in the hotel there are so nice restaurants close and very good cheap prices local food.But again hotel plaza was very nice not perfect but i go back for sure.!!!

The food in the buffet is of poor choice, we had dinner outside of the hotel for the duration of our stay. (5 night) We where a group of 40 Canadians and
most of us if not all where very disappointed.
The beach access is very limited.
You ask for a beer or a glass of water at the bar and they give you a small glass.
LIES, LIES, LIES. We bought a package from Air Canada Vacations which stipluated
an ocean view premium room and a beach area cordoned for Hotel Plaza guests.
We did not get get an ocean view but a side view of the building next door. The beach across the street was not cordoned but full of hustlers trying to sell you a tent with chairs. On the first day we were given a standard room on the 18th floor instead of a premium room on the 10 th floor. We had to complain the next morning to be moved.
WE paid $500 extra for these premium rooms. Trying to contact Air Canada vacations post travel is useless. Stayed on the phone for 2 hours with no response on four separate osscaions. They ignore, igore and ignore. Its been two months and we are still waiting for a response from them. They sell you something which yoy dont get and then they ignore you. Litigate, litigate and litigate, then they will have to answer.
I had an amazing stay at Cartagena Plaza Hotel! The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, offering a high standard of comfort and elegance. Its location is perfect—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore all the main attractions.
A special mention goes to the Lucia restaurant, where the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere delightful. Our experience was made even better thanks to the outstanding service from Héctor Barrios, who was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly.
I would highly recommend Cartagena Plaza to anyone visiting the city—it combines luxury, convenience, and exceptional hospitality all in one place!
We spent two great weeks at Cartagena Plaza Hotel. During that time we were eating at Lucia restaurant on the 5th floor of the hotel. The food was really tasty and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The view from the balcony was marvelous. The waiters were really nice. Special thanks to Hector Barrios who was our waiter for most of the time. Hector was very professional and always smiled. We felt very happy to have such a good service.

The Hotel is facing the ocean in a great location. Staff is friendly and there are many restaurants and shopping walking distance. Special recognition to Hector from the 5th floor restaurant and Ali from the 2nd floor restaurant- both were very polite, attentive and professional.

Daniel Murillo was really nice and helpful. He made things really comfortable for me especially as a newcomer to the country.
The staff is very helpful and attentive, espeacilly Daniel Murilio who works at internal La Place Restaurant. The only big problem with the Hotel is the elevators, lacking capacity to handle so many people.
la habitación espectacular con vista al mar, la comida excelente variedad, buenos sabores y el personal muy atentos y amables.
lo único que se debería mejorar es el aire acondicionado en el lobby, el contraste al llegar de la playa o la ciudad es un poco brusco y mas cuando se viaja con niños.
La ubicación es buena, pero su playa está en obras y es horrible la suciedad y el ruido que hay frente al hotel.
El personal del hotel es maravilloso. Destacar especialmente a Elias, el camarero del restaurante y la piscina; y a Stefani, la comercial que vende las excursiones en el hotel.
Partimos de la base de que el hotel es muy antiguo, pero me gustaría destacar algunas cosas:
La playa frente al hotel está en obras. Horrible la suciedad y el ruido que hay. Muchísimos vendedores, no te dejan ni respirar, de tranquila no tiene nada. El agua está literalmente negra. Los chicos que venden paseos en motos de agua pasan súper cerca de ti cuando te estás bañando, es un peligro, además del olor a gasolina que suelta eso y que tú respiras.
El aire acondicionado no funciona correctamente, además el ruido que hace es extremadamente fuerte y molesto, por lo que no puedes ponerlo a menos que quieras estar con dolor de cabeza durante todo el día.
Cuando llueve hay goteras, se encharca el suelo de las habitación y el material de las ventanas se deshace.
La animación del hotel deja mucho que desear, no hay prácticamente nada para entretener al huésped. Los huéspedes tenían que llevar sus propios altavoces de música para animar el ambiente en la piscina, súper aburrido para ser un todo incluido.
La comida estaba rica, pero muy poca variedad, casi todos los días comíamos lo mismo. El único momento del día para comer fruta es el desayuno, para la comida y la cena los postres son dulces.
El personal de la limpieza asignado a nuestra habitación horrible, no limpiaba nada. El suelo estaba lleno de pelusas, asqueroso. La mesa/escritorio no se limpió durante los 8 días. Las papeleras eran negras y estaban blancas del polvo que tenían. La mampara de la ducha llena de manchas desde el primer día y el espejo más de lo mismo. No nos rellenó el champú y el gel en 7 días y se supone que está incluido, nos tuvimos que apañar con lo poco que había cuando llegamos y ya el último día tuvimos que pedirla que por favor lo rellenase porque no teníamos ni para ducharnos. Nos dejó únicamente dos pastillas diminutas de jabón para lavarnos las manos y un rollo de papel diario, quedándonos muchos días sin ello.
