Wow Wow Wow!!!!
Amazing from start to finish.
All staff were excellent and helpful.
Warm rooms were super cosy. Had a microwave, fridge, and kettle.,you would need to bring dish soap/cloth/teatowel as not provided.
Fantastic food, breakfast was amazing with lots to pick from. Ate in the hotel one night and the Old Homestead the next, it is expensive for what you get but it was delicious. If you want to eat in your chalet/lodge the Co op is well stocked with ready filled baguettes, soups, Salad containers, microwave meals, fresh bread, fruit and veg , meats, cheese and a good frozen section, the same as a Co op back home.
Close to the CO OP for essentials (500m) also walking distance to The Old Homestead restaurant and the Sami centre (950m)
The location was stunning and peaceful, and we were treated to a show of the northern lights on 2 occasions.
Hotel didn't seem overly busy. I used the sauna a few times and nobody else was in it (towels provided)
Slept one night in a 'cold room' in the Ice part, what a phenomenal experience, really cosy in our sleeping bags, mattress was a bit thin (not great if you have a bad back like me) but manageable and it's only one night!!
Lots of storage for your luggage between moving rooms
and check out times.
Nothing
Spacious warm room. Warm gears provided. Nice staff. Accessible to icebar and sauna at no cost.
No. Value for money.
A fantastic experience in terms of location and arts in a stunning winter environment.
Not much😉
The staff at reception are very kind, polite and helpful. We were cought northern light just from our room!
Nothing
Northern Lights, Ice Bar, Ice Restaurant, snowmobile adventure.
Se all den vackra konsten.
Despite the HIGH luxury price, there is no luxury here. Felt like student/backpacker accommodation. The ice hotel is amazing, but maybe just pay to see it not stay there (ice OR warm rooms). In the ice hotel cold rooms, unless you pay for a deluxe suite, you get no where private to chill, no private bathroom or toilet facilities and only communal showers. Warm rooms are dated and in poor condition. Ice hotel, warm rooms, restaurant, lounge areas are all in separate non-connected buildings.
Staff are well meaning, very young, and mostly NOT Swedish, but lack any professional or managerial skills.
Reception is way too small and way understaffed. Many maintenance items need attending to, including many outside lights along walk ways not functioning.
I would highly recommend NOT to stay here, but it is amazing to visit. Overpriced for what little you get, and certainly not a luxury place by any means.
The rooms were impressive and the ice art felt genuinely creative. Sleeping was better than expected with the right gear, but it is still an unusual experience that takes adjustment. Staff explained everything clearly and helped make it feel comfortable and safe. If you are curious and want something different, this is hard to beat.
Unique, fascinating, moving, a poetic postcard written between the encounter between Nature and man... indescribable until after having experienced it... ICE HOTEL 36... room 73 cabin artic room. Like the Arctic Circle; - Thanks to Giulia at the front desk. Thanks to the restaurant staff, especially the German guy. And thanks to the Hispanic guy at the reception for the glacial clothing.
