the two women on the reception were lovely, competent and helpful. Bed comfortable and room nice and clean. It was only for one night so it worked for me.
The downside was that I wasn’t able to check in as early as I’d hoped (1pm). I ended up getting in around 1.30–1.40pm. I understand this wasn’t a standard request, but I do feel there was an opportunity to go a step further.
I arrived early in the morning (like 9.30am) due to flight timings so it was an early request. I was heading to a concert later that day, so an earlier check-in would have made a big difference. I managed, but it would have significantly improved my experience if the room had been ready closer to 1pm.
That small shift would have made the stay feel exceptional and something I would actively recommend to others.
That said, I would return for a short stay — ideally when I don’t need an early check-in.

The member of staff on duty when we checked in was somewhat abrupt.
I just felt incredibly sorry for the poor staff on the floor having to put up with the horrendous management of this facility. They were doing the best that they could and never at any point in time did they loose their cool. I would have walked out if I was them. Not worth the hourly rate to deal with so many disappointed customers.
This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. Waited an hour in line to check in, followed by multiple hold ups such as being told someone else had checked into our room?? Watched multiple guests who had already checked in laughing as they walked through the lobby, clearly they had a similar experience. Rather than sticking with our preferred accommodation, we thought we’d give The Chancellor a try as they offered free parking, free wine on arrival and a gym facility. We were told there was no parking available, the gym was closed for maintenance with no prior update given and likely due to the mess about with our room there was no free wine on arrival which would have been a welcome relief after check in. The room was disgusting. Mold on the curtains in the shower and bedroom. Mold in the grout tiling. Watermark stains on the bathroom floor. White paint patches on the walls and nail marks from door bolts that had been removed 🤦♀️ our futile check in meant we were late for the show we drove 4 hours to come and see.
Because of all of this I felt unsafe in the room the entire time. Had to open the door in the middle of the night because it was hot and realised that all the rooms had balconies with little safeguarding between the rooms meaning anyone could easily have walked into our room with our door open.
We sent an email to management with these details, photos of the room and a request for a refund. No response given.
To top it off, there was another long waiting line to check out. We left the cards on the desk and left. No thank you. Never again.

Hotel is of a very poor standard and would have to be the worst place we have ever stayed. Check the google reviews, they are consistently bad as was our experience. Check in took 30mins plus, guests who has just been checked in coming back saying they were checked into a dirty room. No carparks left for people who paid. Other guests were given our room number just after we checked in and were trying to enter our room. Very nosiy, very cheaply and badly renovated. Nothing matches in kitchen. Pipe from shower head came out and sprayed water everywhere as soon as i turned the shower on. Had to shower with tap hardly turned on to use it. Had to bend to get under the shower head as it was so low and im only 5ft 4. Absolutely terrible night sleep due to the street noise and hearing other guests in their rooms like they were right outside. Very badly managed.

It had been recently renovated but there was dust everywhere and painting poorly done. There was paint on door handles etc. Half of the wall sockets didn’t work. They didn’t do our room clean until quite late each day, typically disturbing us. There was no do not disturb sign and when we asked for one it seemed like quite a big issue for the staff to arrange this. They didn’t replenish basic items like dishwasher powder and there was no plug for the sink so we had no way to do our dishes.

The check in system was a nightmare took over an hour . When we finally got to our rooms , it was in useable ! Beds not made messy bathroom and room seemed to be under construction . When we got a different room , it was not cleaned very well at all.
