They charge $60 state tax after your stay did not like that should have been charged during purchase
Great location pretty easy parking as I always drive
Staff good
Pleasant breakfast ok
Good value especially if large group
Don’t expect fancy but comfortable
Good location
Our room was not what we paid for and once arriving at the property we got surprise fee after surprise fee. The cleaning staff was nice but other than that I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for your stay
Hotel/apartment very well located and very well connected. Near the metro, bus stop. Good place for a trip to the Lycabettus viewing terrace and to the Ethnikos national garden and the entire Acropolis. Accessible on foot. The apartments themselves are spacious, equipped with a balcony/terrace and a kitchen or kitchenette. Clean and very nice and helpful staff. I used the breakfast buffet. Very tasty and fresh products. I recommend staying at Delice.
The Delice Hotel is a good choice for a stay in Athens. We enjoyed our stay here and it worked out well for us, and we would recommend it - but it is probably more suited to a certain type of person.
Here is the abridged, simple summary review -
if you expect luxury or are a snob - don't book this, you will be disappointed.
If you are a reasonable, down to earth person who is happy with basic, decent, clean accommodation and is not bothered about a hotel looking ultra modern and plush then this hotel is perfectly good and suitable.
Here is more detailed review -
To be fair and honest for other customers - although graded as a 4 star hotel it does not really look / feel like that, it is ore like a 3 or 2.5 star rating. And we can understand how other people have downgraded it or given a less than favourable review. It looks and feels quite dated in some ways - to the point of looking like it was decorated and furnished in the 70's ! LOL
There are no plush extras at the Delice (like a swimming pool or sauna) and it does seem to be somewhere between a hotel and apartments.
However, this did not bother us as when on holiday we spend minimal time in the hotel and are out and about most days exploring.
Good points about the Delice are
# Decent Location - the location is decent for Athens. At first we thought the area was a bit out of the way and basic but once you explore Athens you realise that it is in one of the nicer areas. Although it takes approx. 25 to 30 mins to walk from the hotel to Athens centre, we did this many times and it was always ok (apart from the atrocious greek pavements, but that is another story LOL). We never had any trouble or felt unsafe in any part of Athens, even late at night - it is a very friendly and safe city so do not be put off by the look of the area.
The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the nearest metre station, so easy to access from the airport. There are also buses that go along near the main road nearby, although we never used these and did not need to as we went on foot around most of Athens.
# Local bars & restaurants - there are quite a few bars. restaurants and some supermarkets with a few minutes walk of the hotel. Sore literally just over the road and others are in the areas 10 mins away from the hotel so if you explore there are plenty of options. For the best variety and atmosphere though, you still want to go to the city old town area (its great)
# Staffed reception - staffed 24/7 so no matter what time you arrive there will be someone to assist. The reception were always friendly and helpful with us.
# Decent breakfast - is a basic European / greek buffet, and it is the same choices every day. A fairly limited selection of local meats, cheeses and a few cooked items (sausages, eggs), and pastries and things like olives and bread. There was always plenty of food available and we tried something different every day, so we enjoyed it and were more than happy. The local tomatoes and cheese and yoghurt were so tasty and good !
# Decent sized room - our room, although basic, was a decent size and the bed was a really good size and comfortable. The bathroom was also basic but again it didnt bother us because we dont spend our holiday time in the bathroom, lol, we like to be out and about. Although our room had a small balcony it just looked onto a courtyard and you wouldn't even want to look at it so we never used it. Even the rooms on the front of the hotel just look onto a main road, so don't book the Delice for any scenic views.
In summary - this is a decent place to stay in Athens if you are down to earth person or on a budget, and for the deal price we paid we were more than happy with it.
Close to everything and safe
For our group of 4 couples i haf done selection of Delice hotel apartment as I was getting 1 bedroom apartment with size of 646 sqft besides its locational advantage. i booked 4 one bedroom apartment through our India agent in this apartment hotel for one night . We reached hotel by 2pm from airport & we were given 4 apartments each on different floors but that was ok as long as it was same category .
Me & wife checked into room not realising that our apartment is unlike other 3 & literally half the size that we booked . When i went down to meet our friends i was shocked While others had full living room with 5 seater sofa . Large bedroom & larger toilet ours was half the size like a studio with no living & smaller toilet.
I reached out to receptionist diani who refused to change the room & continued to say it's same category as others & said hotel is full while on line it showed vacancy of same category on this he says it will cost you another booking & no refund.
He seemed to be lying totally & shamelessly .
I reached to India agent posted video who reached out to hotel & was given same reply by mail that our room was just 2 or 3 sqmtr small & hotel is full so again both lies .
So while on line booking showed availability he lied , room was like studio of of sbout 350 sqft which he was insisting is of same category. Would never recommend such a place where reception are so cold & lier of first lot
The air conditioning isn’t working and it is hot today . The person in charge wouldn’t give me any other option more than wait till tomorrow with no air . His behavior isn’t polite. He just said there is no other opción not even refund my money for me to go other place tonigh.
Great place for family stay
An amazing place at the heart of Athens with amazing view, reasonable prices, clean and pleasant for any time of the year. Our apartment with fabulous mattresses, clean and comfortable sheets, pillows and all amenities. The personnel so polite and helpful. Can’t wait to stay there again! ✨
Was on business trip, so the hotel was conveniently located near the conference venue. A bit dated but clean. Had a horrible night as could hear everything from the room above the floor. Someone drunk was shouting until 4 am. Complained to the reception and got a very dry response “he is not he moved out”….no apologies, nothing, just “he moved out…” Both lady and a man at the reception were a bit unfriendly. Liked the pillow choice. Could have given 2 stars but that wouldn’t be fair to a cleaner who kept the room tidy.
We stayed at Delice hotel in family room for 3 days. The hotel is a little old styled, but the rooms are well maintained. The room had all basic amenities. The breakfast spread was decent.
The nearest metro station is around 10 mins walk and Monastiraki is 1 station away from there. There are some good restaurants near the hotel.
Was staying in this hotel for 2 nights.
Is abt 20mins walk to the commercial area. Can choose to take bus too.
Near the national gallery.
Thère is a small supermarket nearby if you want to get food.
Is abt 10mins walk.
Wifi works well.
The hotel prepares breakfast box for you if you need to leave early and will miss breakfast. That was a very nice gesture.
Our room for three was a spacious, comfortable, clean, and quiet suite with a functional kitchenette and separate bedroom. Unfortunately it smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. Tiny elevator.
Located near the National Gallery and a 10-minute taxi ride or 25-minute walk to Syntagma Square nearer the center and most attractions. Good nearby eating options include 5F and Pita Pan, inexpensive choices for lunch. Oroscopo was great for a higher-end dinner.
Simple but tasty breakfast. Great spanakopita. The staff kindly provided boxed breakfast for our early ferry departure.
The WiFi constantly dropped the connection with our iPhones and iPad. Worked better with our MacBook.
I give a high value to the fact of having kitchen to cook as if at home. So the Apartment counts with this. The kitchen is rather well equipped. I would add some mat to protect the table (in my case i carried one with me just in case) . The refrigerator is big, there Is coffee machine, electric boiler , stove, oven, enough plates, glasses, etc. I asked for spounge and dish detergent cause as i cook my dinner i like of course to clean the dishes by myself, and the personal at the front desk provided it for me.
The bed room had a Security box , which is a positive Point.
The living room is rather comfortable.
The personal at the front desk is very kind , Nicos helped me to find a place to Repair my luggagge which had arrived broken; Vangelis helped with the resetting of the wi fi at some opportuniy ; then there is Penny and two more functionaries (a man and a woman - Sorry that i don t remember their names now, but all very kind people, they received an order i had posted by internet and they gave it to me as i came back after going around all day).
The cleaning personal is very kind too, and they do their work well, all is clean.
The location is very suitable , 5 minutes walking from Metro Station Evangelysmus, so one can arrive directly from the airport by the blue Line in 30 or 40 minutes (dont remember the exact time ).
There are some museums close to the Apart Hotel too, but i ve left them for my next visit.
Lively places like Syntagma Square and Monastiraki , Acropole Museum , are all at one or 2 Metro Stations or even one can Walk 30 minutes.
There is an excellent supermarket (Bazaar) at 5 minutes walking , one can find there all that one needs.
The hotel offers breakfast paying a supplement, but i can t comment on that, cause i ve chosen to cook my breakfast at the Apartment , as if i were at home.
Summarizing , i think this is a nice and convenient place to stay in Athens, which i was fortunate to find being it my first visit to Greece!
They had a water/pipe damage in our room. We couldn’t sleep until the morning due to the noise. There is no parking also.
Nice apartment hotel. I've got a large "flat" with kitchen. Very clean. Looked a bit empty for its size. Nice working safe was available.
Breakfast was OK. Excellent location. Helpful staff.
Delice is amazing. I use to live in the neighborhood for years as a student and when I left and wanted to be around my old neighborhood in my stays in Athens, I picked Delice for convenience. I was amazed by its style, the quality of the interior and its cleanliness. I highly recommend it.
As for the location, take it from an (ex) local; there's no better spot in Athens. Syntagma and most of the touristic stuff are a walk or two metro stations away and on the other hand it is in proximity of great authentic Athenian neighborhoods like Kaisariani and Pagkrati that have something to show you off the beaten path.
I have personally booked two stays with them for summer 2021 and I guess even more in the future.
This was a clean and quiet hotel. The staff their was great.
