Walking distance to everything you need in Reykjavik including bus stops 3 and 6.
Pros:

Thingholt by Center Hotels is a smaller boutique hotel located within walking distance to everything we needed to get to in Reykjavik - close to shopping, restaurants, and Bus stops 3 and 6, where many tour buses pick up and drop off. We were a family of six in three rooms which were clean and beds were very comfortable. Two rooms on top floor had sloped ceilings (unfortunately even after a couple of nights we were still bumping into the ceiling.) There were no USB plug-ins anywhere in room, and there was no countertop by the bathroom sink. There was a refrigerator and hot water kettle in room. Breakfast (included in our package) offered a broad enough selection for all of us to find things we preferred to eat. I'm lactose intolerant but things like oat milk were readily available. We added the spa to our stay and enjoyed that fully. Robes, slippers, and of course towels were available for use in the spa, along with hair dryers. The shampoo body wash and conditioners provided in rooms and spa were excellent-not perfumy. Hotel staff we met were helpful, kind and seemed genuinely concerned with any questions we had. The one weird thing is that all bag storage (if you arrive early or leave late) is in a corner of the lobby - somewhat protected by a glass wall - but still accessible by anyone. We WOULD stay here again.

Disappointing service. Great location. Would I recommend? - No!
Pros:

The breakfast was good and the staff at breakfast very attentive. The location was amazing.

Cons:

I booked an extra night simply to ensure we could have an early check in on the second night. We get there the second night at 6 AM and they are telling me that the room is not ready but they have an Appartment Style room ready in 30 minutes and if I would want to take that one then we would stay there for the entire stay. They said the apartment style would be an upgrade (I booked the junior suite with two beds originally) ...anyways: needless to stay I wasn't happy about a. The fact that we still couldn't do the early check in and in fact had to wait until 10 AM in the end to get anywhere to sleep. I honestly don't know why I paid for an extra night to ensure the early check in when it didn't work to begin with. And b) the apartment was by now standards an upgrade at all.

So I did go back to reception to request that we get the room I paid for which was the junior suite with two beds. And of course, they had oversold this room and meanwhile they still had a junior suite, only the one with one was ready. So we took the junior sleep but one of us slept on the couch. Very disappointing service.

Fantastic modern hotel in great location with friendly and helpful staff.
Pros:

Fantastic location in the centre of Reykjavik ideal for restaurants, shops, bus station and excursions. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel had a great vibe and was clean. Breakfast was good value and included a wide variety of options. Spa was just a small shallow pool and sauna but was decorated beautifully and was nice to relax in for an hour. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect stay
Pros:

Reykjavík is a stunning city and this hotel was a great base to stay. Great location and a modern cozy feel. Our room , which was a deluxe room, was very clean with a large bathroom area and large comfy bed. The bar and reception area was a great place to chill in after a day’s sightseeing. We used the spa and that was great too, with a large hot tub and sauna.
Breakfast was good with a nice choice. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
There is a park a short 2 minute stroll away where we were treated to a fantastic northern lights experience over the city. All in all I was very happy staying here and would highly recommend it.

Great choice for the city centre.
Pros:

The hotel was in a great location within easy walking distance of the main city attractions. The staff were friendly and greeted you with a smile every time you passed reception. The hotel had a boutique feel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The downside in the room, was the lighting was a bit dark.

Central, fancy and a great base for exploring Reykjavik
Pros:

The location is perfect, you're right in the middle of everything. Come out the front door turn right and you're on the main street.
Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
My room was beautiful, very clean and the decor was lovely. I'm glad I had breakfast included as it was a good way to get fuelled up for the day. The food was lovely especially the pastries! The coffee at breakfast wasn't great, but you can pay & order a coffee to be made up for you which is what I did and it was perfect and cheap too!
I'll be back to explore Iceland more and thus is where I'll be staying.

Good location, but average
Pros:

The room was spacious and well laid out however, very dark. There was no main overhead light to turn on that illuminated the whole room. We had to go round and turn individual lamps on. Some of these were unplugged on arrival, so it took a while before we were even able to see the room properly. The safe was impractically small and impractically high up, so we weren’t able to use it to secure a MacBook at all, despite having rang ahead to check the size - so unfortunately no use.

The bathroom very inadequate - a tiny shower with a hanging plastic curtain, but a space so small that it became your best friend. Toiletries were provided, but very basic.

The bed was comfortable but we were cold in the room on the first night, and asked for additional duvets which were provided. It was a king-size bed but you were given two individual duvets. Maybe that’s the Icelandic way?

Breakfast was good with a decent selection of choices. There is a very basic gym and spa.

Overall a nice hotel in a very central location, but lacking in some basic facilities.
